VETERANS ARE URGED TO RETURN CLOTHING
World War II veterans are urged by the Ninth service command quartermaster at Fort Douglas, Utah, to return to the army any unwanted items of GI clothing and equipment still in their possession. Especially needed are woolen garments, including blouses, OD shirts and underwear, R. F. Bartz, quartermaster, said. Such items are retained by the soldier when discharged from the army.
Veterans desiring to turn in clothing and equipment should dispatch them collect to the nearest army installation, in care of the property officer. All clothing returned to the army will be renovated and repaired prior to reissue, Colonel Bartz emphasized.

Bar Committee Studies Lower County Courts
Means of improving administration of justice in the inferior courts of California, including those of Orange county, will be studied by a committee of the Orange County Bar association President Fred Forgy announced. The committee was appointed by the request of O. D. Hamlin, Jr., of Oakland, president of the State Bar of California. In commenting on this appointment Mr. Hamlin said:
"For more than three years, the statewide committee of the state bar has studied the problem of our present antiquated system of courts below the Superior Court. The committee has concluded that those courts are generally characterized by an intolerable patchwork of conflicting and confusing jurisdictions, poor housing and clerical service, and by other conditions which bring the courts in disrepute because they are not able to serve the people adequately.
"The state bar is turning over to the Orange county committee the results of the statewide survey and the tentative proposal for constitutional change, in order that they may receive the fullest possible constructive criticism, in view of the statewide situation and the condition in Orange county."
"Results of this study by local attorneys' in each county will be returned to the statewide committee and taken into consideration in the final draft of the proposed changes. The committee is co-

SUGGESTS CORN COBS AS FEED FOR STEERS
The farmer who wonders what he's going to do with the cobs left over from shelled corn, now that his coal and wood burning kitchen stove may soon give way to an electric range, might well consider conclusions reached by Paul Gerlaugh of the Ohio agricultural experiment station.
Gerlaugh's experiments in feeding steers show that corn cobs are worth 50 per cent of their weight in ground shelled corn. Steers fed corn and cob meal graded the same as those fed ground shelled corn. All rations were balanced with two pounds of soybean meal and four to five pounds of hay per steer per day.
On the basis of tests made by the station, a ton of corn and cob meal is just as good for fattening cattle as 1800 pounds of ground shell corn.
All of which leads to the conclusion that "it may be more profitable to feed corn cobs to cattle than to burn them in the kitchen stove."
The first annual reunion of the 52nd Medical Battalion of World War II will be held at Worcester, Mass., in 1946, according to Nelson Cormier, 34 Winfield Street, Worcester 2, Mass.

Compost Pile Solves Problem Of Humus for Home Gardeners
Renewal of humus in the garden soil is a constant problem for the home gardener, and a compost pile offers one of the best and most economical sources of humus.
While decay of a compost pile proceeds slowly in cold weather, the quantity of material available for rotting down into garden humus is greatest in the fall, when dead leaves accumulate.
Burning leaves is a waste, but many gardeners prefer not to spade them into the garden soil. Leaves from many trees decay so slowly that spring will find them still intact, and if many have been worked into the soil they may be a nuisance all summer long without benefiting the crops.
SPEEDS DECAY
Decay is more rapid when the compost is piled up and exposed to the air, than when it is buried or thrown in a pit.
So a compost heap, begun by piling up dead leaves, offers the best solution. It can be added to in the spring and summer, with lawn clippings and plant debris, and by next fall should provide humus of a quality which will be an unmixed blessing to your garden.
Set aside a suitable location, out of the way, and preferably screened by planting or a fence; 10x10 feet would be an average size. Clean off all vegetation, and harden the surface soil by rolling.
CULL THE DROSS
Pile evenly over this area all dead leaves and other waste plant and even animal material, from your garden, and from kitchen wastes. But carefully exclude, if you would avoid trouble, all wood, branches, twigs and metal objects. When the layer, well tramped down, is six inches thick, sprinkle it with a balanced mix of compost.

Filling fee for congress and the state board of equalization is $100 for each ticket and the number of sponsors is not less than 40 nor more than 60.
A fee of $20 and not less than 20 or more than 30 sponsors are required for candidates for the state legislature.
Orange county committee results of the statewide survey and the tentative proposals institutional change, in order that they may receive the possible constructive criticism view of the statewide plan and the condition in Orlando.
Results of this study by local days in each county will be used to the statewide committee taken into consideration final draft of the proposed plan. The committee is convinced that a workable plan can only if there is brought to light its provisions the most thought of the several solutions."
Orange County Bar Association committee is composed of Wellington, chairman, R. Brookshank, and Honorable H.eron, all of Santa Ana.

California's synthetic rubber plants can furnish all western requirements in direct competition with eastern import, according to the RFC.
CITL THE DROSS
Pile evenly over this area all dead leaves and other waste plant and even animal material, from your garden, and from kitchen wastes. But carefully exclude, if you would avoid trouble, all wood, branches, twigs and metal objects. When the layer, well tramped down, is six inches thick, sprinkle it with a balanced fertilizer mixture, about one ounce to a square yard.
Wood ashes and limestone are also beneficial, each in three or more times this quantity. Then wet down.
Build up the heap, layer by layer, with similar applications between the layers; and keep it moist. If bad odors develop an inch of soil thrown on top of each layer will prevent them.
When the pile is as high as you can conveniently manage, cover the top with soil and let it stand until you are ready to dig the humus into the garden.
Start a new one to take care of current accumulations.
Such compost piles consistently maintained, should provide your garden with all the humus required for good condition.

STAINLESS STEEL WARE BACK ON RETAIL SALE
The long-awaited return of Revere copper-clad stainless steel ware to the consumer market here was marked today with announcement by the Alcott & Sons store that it is taking orders for these kitchen utensils again for the first time since 1942.
An initial assortment of Revere ware has just been placed on display in Alcott's housewares department as a means of reassuring the public that production of these utensils is actually under way, a spokesman for the store said.
Pieces for which orders can be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, include sauce pans in two and three-quarters sizes, one-and one-half and two-quarters double boilers, 10-inch French chef skillet four-inch sausage pot and a tendent of public instruction, a non-partisan office, pay only one fee for all tickets. The fee for the office of attorney general is $280.
Filing fee for congress and the state board of equalization is $100 for each ticket and the number of sponsors is not less than 40 nor more than 60.
A fee of $20 and not less than 20 or more than 30 sponsors are required for candidates for the state legislature.
Jordan said nomination petitions are to be filed with the county clerk or registrar of voters.

THE FRAZER — This artist's preview of the new Frazer automobile reveals the first American car designed with flowing front-to-rear fender lines. The sleek body features increased visibility and extremely wide seating capacity. The new car has a wheel base of 123½ inches and a specially designed 6-cylinder 100-horsepower engine. First peacetime product of Graham-Paige Motors, the medium-priced 1947 Frazer will be unveiled to the public in January as America's first all-new automobile since the war.
