During her comments, she expressed the fact that where there is hunger and want, there is always trouble. Alice Williamson reported on the club's worth while Christmas project, and the reactionary smiles and appreciation expressed by patients at SAAAB hospital upon opening their gifts presented by the club women. Mrs. Boyd read a letter from S. T. Chang, of holiday greeting, one of her Chinese pilots, of the several she "mothered" during their training period at SAAAB. Eighteen dollars was the outcome of the white elephant auction, which will support one Chinese nurse in her homeland for one year. Auctioneer was Florence Davis. Fourteen pound ham was won by David Clark with Mrs. Ted Simers winner of the door prize offered by courtesy of Floyd Hubbard. Mrs. Robert Harvey introduced the entertainer, Franklin Lacy, well known in New York, other eastern cities and throughout the southland, who writes his own productions and composes his music and songs. With lighting changes and sparkling wit he presented six sketches; the first four challenged laughter in their exaggerated take-offs, including two studies of the stupid, drivolous "Hattie," "Lum" of Lum and Abner" and dramatic resturings and bespectacled "Grizzle" intermissioned by radio commercial satire. In a quieter mood he impersonated the "Wood Carver," with follow up, "Lullaby at Carnegie Hall," humorous study of an opera singer, one of his encore hits at the "Turnabout" theater. Lacy mentioned one of his first performances having been on stage at the Anaheim Ebell Auditorium. Mrs. William Cook at the piano accompanied him during his last sketch.
