ANN SHARPE FETED AT YULE AFFAIR
WILL PLIGHT TROTH FEBRUARY 23
Rejoicing to the tune of wedding chimes, as well as the tinkle of sleigh bells, combined for a two-way holiday occasion, with Miss Mabel L. Sharpe and her mother, Mrs. Mary E. Sharpe, duo-hostesses at their home, 233 East Wilshire, Fullerton, on Christmas day.
Miss Ann Sharpe, niece of Miss Mabel L. Sharpe, will exchange marriage vows Feb. 23, with Lee Vandenberg, honorable dischargee of three weeks, who served extensively in the Italian and Australian areas of war, attached to the transportation and ammunitions' division of the United States army.
This important "date of all dates" will climax their three-year engagement which began in the good old F. J. C. school days.
During the past weekend, announcement of their coming nuptials was revealed to friends and relatives at an affair given by the honoree's mother, Mrs. William Sharpe, at their home in Huntington Beach. Miss Sharpe has recently been released from her teacher's contract at Bakersfield junior high school and following their wedding ceremony, the new Mr. and Mrs. Vandenberg plan to reside in surrounding vicinity of Los Angeles.
Attending the family Christmas reunion were Mr. and Mrs.
William Sharpe and their children, Ruth, Lois, Lee and bride-elect, Ann, who motored from Huntington Beach bringing the "entree" for their Yuletide feast, old Tom Turkey, himself, with the Fullerton hostess supplying his tantalizing accessories.
Resplendent tree and lovely simplicity marked the table appointments and arrangements throughout their home, effecting a memorable day, long to be cherished in the hearts of all.
T/Sgt. Charles Sharpe, signal service and communications division of the army, is still actively serving in Manila but anticipates being home for his sister's wedding.
St. Michael Tots Stage Christmas Tableaux and Party
Santa Claus did come to town, via the St. Michael's Episcopal church, and was ushered in by the entire Sunday school's "vocal welcoming" at the annual Yule party given Saturday afternoon, Dec. 22, with 65 children attending. Preceding his "honored" entrance, program of special skits and presentations were participated in by each class. Mrs. Ted Kuchel's nursery class sang "Jingle Bells" followed by the kindergarten,
first and second grades' "spell pro gram," composing original verses by using the individual letters in the word, "Bethlehem" as a guide.
Third grade, Adah Louise Wexcox, teacher, presented a tableau of the manger scene with vocalizing background music. "Away in a Manger," leading rookie of Mary and Joseph were enrailed by Ann Kennedy and Joan Phelps. Miss Marjorie Pibe fourth grade was represented by Susan Arnold reading, "'Twas the Night Before Christmas,'' followed by John Barnett at the piano playing Christmas carols. Diana Cave, of the sixth grade, played a Christmas selection on the piano. A series of colored slides depicting the Christmas story, accompanied by reading appropriate Scripture passages, was followed by the entrance of St. Nicola carrying his huge bag of candies and overflowing with gifts for the children.
Final treat of the afternoon was a surprise refreshment hour fetched by Mrs. Ronald Brandon's fifth grade class. Piano accompaniment for the affair was by Mrs. Leoard Daigle.

HONORS TRIO'S RETURN FROM HAWAII
Laughter, glorious reunion and reminiscing reigned over the Yuletide celebration Sunday afternoon and evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Chiles on Bradford road, Placentia, as they welcomed home the hostess' two sisters, Mrs. William T. Bruce and Miss Inez Ivey, arriving by clipper from Honolulu.
Seven years have elapsed since these two sisters exchanged family greetings with their relatives in California and 17 years since the entire family had a get-together.
Mrs. Bruce has been living in Honolulu since 1938 with her husband, William T., dischargege of one month, who served for three years in the Seabees, Fifth marine division, as chief petty officer, and previous to his enlistment was employed by the Standard Oil company of California as engineer for four years.
Miss Ivey, the other sister, also living in Honolulu, has been buyer for Liberty House there for the past seven years, with expectations of returning to the islands shortly after the first of the year.
Direct from Honolulu, the trio reached San Francisco Friday night, motored from there to Anaheim, arrived here Saturday, loaded with surprises which they presented the following afternoon to each family attending their Christmas reunion. These symbolic island gifts were butterfly orchids and refreshingly exquisite carnation and Pikake leis.
