Good news for the Browns is that Maynard Glenn, Elks club chef, will have charge of the meals.
First players to come will be the pitchers and catchers. Then the others will follow shortly.
Beloved Connie Mack and his Athletics, who wanted to come to Anaheim after the Browns had made the deal, will train at Savannah, Ga., next spring.
ANAHEIM FARM CENTER MEETING IS CHANGED
Because of decorating at the High school cafeteria, the scheduled meeting of the Anaheim Farm Center has been postponed for one week. There was no Congress of P.T.A. Discusses Problems At Recent Meeting
At a meeting held in Los Angeles at Hotel Clark this week, Wednesday and Thursday (today), members of the California Congress of Parents and Teachers discussed the possibility of re-establishing the usual routine of meetings including that of a state convention in the spring. During the past war years these activities have been cancelled because of the transportation and housing problems.
With the close of the war, the activities of all branches of Parent-Teacher will be even more intense. One emphasis will be on study of the United Nations Charter in all communities and at all age levels.
Mrs. J. J. Garland, president of the Congress, stated: "The Charter is finished; the delegates have dispersed to far lands. The time has now come for action. The Charter will not keep the peace. Only in the wholehearted cooperation among nations lies the hope of continued world order. The document is the machinery, but the peoples of good will must provide the motive power. Nations must be willing to make the necessary sacrifices." This thought will form the working slogan for the 471,851 members during the coming year.

All is quiet in the 700 block on South Los Angeles—even the three persons asleep in their car parked in the middle of the street.
Police are called. Dr. Paige is called. The man and two women are found to be as sober as bar-tenders.
So they are given a citation by the officers, then told to get thee hence.

All-Day Meeting
Seventeen members of the Wesley Methodist church and their guests gathered Thursday of last week at the church for an all-day session that included a morning study hour, potluck luncheon and business meeting.
Mrs. C. H. Archibald was in charge of the study hour and Mrs. Emma Payne led the devotionals.
Mrs. Mary Oldham presided over the business session and plans were approved to donate a sizeable amount of money to China relief. Members are quilting and selling flavoring extracts as a means of raising money for the various enterprises that the organization is undertaking.
Hostesses for the delightful luncheon hour were Mrs. S. Y. Dohm and Mrs. D. Wagner.
J. W. McConnell of route 1, box 321-A, who recently was discharged from the United States army, will be employed with Wilbert Heiden in the orchard spraying business. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. McConnell of route 1.
Our sincere thanks to all of you who helped
When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Southern Pacific became perhaps the most strategic railroad in the United States Serving the West Coast ports of embarkation from San Diego to Portland, and more military and naval establishments than any other railroad, we were called upon to handle an enormous load.
We were able to handle this load successfully because of the great work of railroad men and women up and down the line, and with the help and cooperation of thousands of people not actually working for the railroad.
Now the war is over. The job is done But we of Southern Pacific will never forget the way people stood by us when the task sometimes seemed bigger than our railroad.
We send our sincere thanks—
— to the Army, Navy and Government authorities for their sympathetic understanding of our problems.
— to the shippers who cheerfully put up with delays so that more vital war freight could go through on time, and who cooperated in many ways to conserve equipment.
— to our passengers, for their good-natured acceptance of crowded trains and other wartime discomforts.
— to the thousands of people who stayed off the trains to make room for service men and other essential travelers.
— to the press and radio which understood our operating difficulties and kept the public informed.

We do not know how quickly Southern Pacific can convert from war to peace. Soon transports will be landing thousands of war-weary men at West Coast ports, and many more must be brought back from Europe. These men will want to get home as quickly as possible. We intend to do our best to carry them in the comfort to which they are entitled. This job comes first, of course.
Meanwhile, we are planning luxurious new streamlined trains, new travel comforts and refinements in passenger service, and improvements in freight service. We intend to go forward aggressively with the West, earning our right to serve you solely on merit and performance.
A. T. MERCIER, President
S·P The friendly Southern Pacific
