Violin Students Appear in Recital At Melrose Abbey
The accomplished violin students of Vladimir Lenski, faculty member of the Anaheim Conservatory of Music, were presented in recital last Sunday afternoon at Melrose Abbey chapel and the young performers won much applause from the large audience present.
Several piano students of Mrs. Anna Siegel, head of the conservatory, were accompanists, including Mrs. Zeta MacMahan, Mrs. Jenny Lou Taylor and Mrs. Naomi Clarke. Myrtle Volz Diehl of Los Angeles accompanied Judith La Mori when she played "Air Varie V" by Danla.
Particularly outstanding in the recital were Philip Taylor, Carol Joan Hochuli and Virginia Casey whose young artistry promised even greater accomplishments for the future.
The program was as follows: Kenneth Sorensen, "On the Wings of Love" by Mendelssohn; Janice Malmsten, "Allegro, Concerto Op. 34" by Rieding; John Morter; "Allegro, Concerto No. 2 op 13" by Seitz; Wendell Taylor, "Allegro Moderto" by Mendelssohn; Judith La Mori, "Air Varie V"; Albert Nichols, "Ave Marie" by Bach-Gounod; Marilyn Keniston, "Czardas" by Monti; Philip Taylor, "Concertino op. 5" by O. Rieding; Carl Hochuli, "Romance in F" by Beethoven and "Serenade" by Chaminade-Kreisler; Priscilla Jean Orman, "Concerto 6" by De Beriot and Virginia Casey, Concerto 9" by De Beriot.
Following the recital a reception was held by Mrs. Siegel at her conservatory on West Center street. The affair was in observance of her arrival in Anaheim just 25 years ago from Germany. She was accompanied by officers installed wore flowing grecian gowns and carried bouquets of purple and white gladioli tied with net bows. The honored queen and two princesses were vested with the purple robes of authority and crowns and were seated on the dias.
The ritual was opened by the candlelighters, Tommy and Ronnie Browne, after which the guardian and assistant guardian, Mrs. Faye Hall and A. B. Cross entered. Retiring president, Darlene White, was then escorted to the lodge rooms after which the installing team of officers entered. They were Helen Wharton, Shirley Eaton, Barbara Cross, Shirley Beneke, Margaret Edens, Ben Bowen, Roselle Welty and each wore a corsage of baby gladioli.
The honored queen was escorted by Dean Masson, worshipful master of the Blue lodge. Other distinguished guests were Charles and Myreta Organ, worthy matron and worthy patron of Chispa chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and Worshipful Master Taylor of the Artesia Masonic lodge.
Vocal solos were sung by Miss Loretta Dean with Mrs. Betty Rees as accompanist. She sang, "Solveig's Song" by Grieg, "The Lass with the Delicate Air" by Arne, and "A Heart That's Free"
EDITH BROWNE INSTALLED HONORED QUEEN OF JOB'S DAUGHTERS MONDAY
In a beautiful and impressive candelight ceremony Miss Edith Browne was insalled honored queen of Job's Daughters, Bethel Nine 5, Monday evening at the Masonic temple. The ceremony was witnessed by 150 guests in the flower-filled lodge rooms where the bethel's colors of purple and white predominated in huge baskets of gladioli while an archway of greenery formed an attractive background for the musical numbers that interspersed the formal ceremony.
Frances Marshall And David Dubois United in Marriage
Marriage rites were solemnized last Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Francis B. Dubois at 814 North Doheny drive West Hollywood, where Sadie Marshall became the bride of David F. Dubois, both of Anaheim and well known here in business and social circles. Rev. H. Wesley Roloff read the service.
The bride was charming in an afternoon dress of beige and brown while her attendant, Mrs. Dubois wore a frock of blue silk crepe. Mr. Dubois attended the bridegroom as best man.
For the reception that followed the lace covered bridal table was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake while ice-creams, molded as wedding cakes were served with the cake.
Among the guests present were the bride's three daughters, Misses Elwanda, Pauline and Dorothea Marshall and Mrs. Colee Marshall, daughter-in-law. Twons, Ashford E. and Bill Marshall and a son-in-law, Duane Davey were unable to attend they are serving with the Navies.

Those enjoying the early evening occasion besides Mr. and Mrs. Siegel were Mr. and Mrs. John Rickert, Miss Elizabeth Siegel, Mr. and Mrs. Vladimir Lenski and her aunt, Mrs. Eva Dorwin of Santa Ana and their three daughters, Beverly, Audrey and Virginia.
Jr. Ebell Contract Bridge Section Has Meeting
Contract bridge section of the Junior Ebell met Tuesday evening at the West Anaheim ranch home of Mrs. David Clark. Mrs. Richard Clark was co-hostess.
Prize for high score went to Miss Bobbette Stein while Mrs. J. J. Schneider won the prize for second high score. There were seven tables in play.
The group will meet again in July at the home of Mrs. Alan Wallace on North Clementine street. Other Junior Ebell sections were suspended for the summer months.
Thomas Rainey's Enjoy Surprise Visit from Son
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rainey of West LaPalma avenue here pleasantly surprised last Sunday when their son, Seaman First Class George Rainey and his wife and two children, Billie and Sylvia Ann, paid them a surprise visit.
Seaman Rainey is stationed at Del Monte where he is in training as a radio technician. His family is temporarily making their home in Monterey.
Garden Club Has Annual Playday
Anaheim Garden club members enjoyed their annual playday last Friday when they gathered for the last time until next fall. It has become traditional on this occasion to tour a number of southland's outstanding nurseries and gardens and last Friday's trip proved one of the most interesting of recent years.
In the morning the group visited the Paul Howard Flowerland Nursery in Santa Monica. Following an enjoyable luncheon at a cafe on Wilshire boulevard, they visited the Evans-Reeves gardens at Brentwood.
Enjoying the trip were Miss Mae McGaw of Santa Barbara and Arthur Burson of Anaheim and the following members: Mendames George Greder, David Toms, Earl Dahlman, George Tedrick, J. H. Burson, Amanda Schneider, Ethel Shultz, Etta Countess, Albert Cranston, J. C. Smith, Elmer Hamilton, A. E. Christiansen, A. Nagel, A. Fischer, Anna Pember, C. W. Austin and Thelma Degitz.

Sgt. Beach will report to the Santa Monica Rehabilitation center on July 25. Having lived in Anaheim all his life, he attended local schools and graduated from the Anaheim Union High school in 1937. Taking a pre-dental course he attended the University of California at Berkeley for three years and entered the service just three weeks before he would have graduated.

The birthday anniversary of Lloyd Fuller was pleasantly commemorated on Monday evening when Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rainey of West LaPalma avenue entertained with a dinner party in his honor.
The lace-covered table was attractively appointed with nut cups and individual birthday cakes.
The evening was spent conversationally and was interspersed with accordion solos played by Miss Dorothy Link of Anaheim. The popular tunes of World War I and this war were greatly enjoyed by the guests.
Covers were laid for the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Fuller and son, Sammy of Fullerton; Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Nichols, Mrs. Walter Chaffee and two sons, Douglas and Paul and Mrs. Dorothy Link and daughter.
Eighty Girl Scouts
To Attend Camp's First Session
Due to cancellation of reservations, two Girl Scouts can still make reservation for Camp Le-Roy, summer camp in the Angelus National Forest, if they telephone Mrs. Helsing at 2498 at once, Mrs. Arthur Roquet, commissioner announced today.
Two one week periods of summer camp are scheduled and 80 girls have signed up for each period. The first group will go next week and the later period will start on July 2.
Leaders to attend are Miss Adah Wilcox, Mrs. J. Lee Rogers, Miss Mildred Mauerhan, Miss Anaclaire Mauerhan, Mrs. Margaret White, Miss Betty Coleston, Miss Alice Williamson, Mrs. Harold Banks, Miss Lois Gobar, Mrs. C. M. Long, Miss Elaine Schumacher, Miss Joyce Munger, Miss Nancy Ganahl and Mrs. Jerry Schiller. Miss Adelaide Price will attend as nurse.
Fifty-six girls will go from Anaheim and 22 from Fullerton the first week.

Mr. and Mrs. Orval E. Li are honeymooning at La Beach following their marriag last Thursday at the Mission Inn in Riverside.
Mrs. Liddell was the for Miss Betty Jean Sims, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. of 881 South Claudina street. bridegroom is the son of Margaret Norrup of 1060 42nd street, Los Angeles.
For her wedding outfit wore a smart three piece pin-stripe suit with white hat gloves and black patent leather shoes and purse. She wore shoulder corsage of a single w orchid.
Upon their return from La Beach the young couple will re their home at 534 East Wa street, Whittier, and will be home to their many friends July 1.

Y. L. I. members enjoyed a carefree social occasion last Monday evening when they gathered at the home of Mrs. A. F. DeWitt, 125 South West street. Mrs. Opal Rimpau was co-hostess.
The evening was devoted to playing bridge and "tripoli" and was concluded with the serving of light refreshments.

Ms. Liddell was the former Betty Jean Sims, daughter Mr. and Mrs. William E. Sims 31 South Claudina street. The guestroom is the son of Mrs. Magaret Norrup of 1060 West Street, Los Angeles.
For her wedding outfit she wore a smart three piece gray stripe suit with white hat and ties and black patent leather shoes and purse. She wore a tiger corsage of a single white band.
On their return from Laguna with the young couple will make home at 534 East Walnut St., Whittier, and will be at the many friends after.
Mrs. Liddell is a graduate of the Anaheim Union High school where she was active in campus and social activities. During her senior year she was secretary of the student body, on the Girl's League board and took a prominent part in Girl Reserve activities. She attended Fullerton Junior college and since then has been employed at the Wilshire Oil company.
Mr. Liddell is a member of one of Los Angeles' pioneer families. At one time the family had extensive holdings in that city. He is a graduate of Cal-Tech and a member of the Tau Beta Pi fraternity. He is employed as chief engineer at the Wilshire Oil company.
