And he Penny Potluck By Townsend Club Friends and members of the Townsend Club are looking forward to the scheduled "penny pot-luck" dinner on Thursday evening, June 21, which will begin at 6:30 o'clock. Mrs. Lenoir Martin Receives New Literary Honor The literary achievements of Mrs. Lenoir Martin of Richards-Martin School of Dance, has again been recognized and this week she was notified that she has been made an honorary member of the International Mark Twain Society. Seats on Sale for Richards-Martin Dance Pageant The most spectacular amateur production presented in Anaheim each year is the Richards-Martin Dance pageant and this year's affair will be held on Thursday evening, June 21, at the Anaheim Union High school auditorium. As in past years the Anaheim Council of the Parent Teacher's Association will sponsor the pageant with proceeds to go to child welfare and the Teen Age Canteen. Directed by Lenoir Richards Martin and Anna L. Richards, this season's production will include 230 dancers and singers, whichew will be the greatest number of performers ever to appear in the pageant. Mrs. Leah Pemberton will present several vocalists. Among the many talented young people to appear will be Bernice and Marilyn Hargrove, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Hargrove of Anaheim. The sisters have recently returned from a tour with the Orpheum Circuit and will be seen in some exceptionally clever numbers. This season for the first time seats may be reserved on the main floor of the auditorium. General admission seats will be in the balcony and will be on the door the night before performance. Pape passed away at the family home on Monday June 11th, at the age of 65 years Born January 22, 1880, in His stead, Penn., she had made home in Anaheim for the thirty years. Left to mourn her passing the husband, Albert H. (Al) of the home; one son, Norie Pape, who is with the air forces in New Guinea; one daughter, Mrs. Albert Claypool of heim; four grandchildren; brothers, Udde Bauer and J.L.Bauer, both of Anaheim; liam and Leo Bauer, both Homestead, Penn.; two sisters Mrs. Peter Cavanaugh of heim and Mrs. Orville Clark Fullerton. She was a member of the Lutheran church and the Diocese society. Funeral services were conceded today (Thursday) at 2 o'clock at Backs, Campbell and Kauchapel with the Rev. L. E. Bofficiating. Buy at VISU Preserve Mrs. Lenoir Martin Receives New Literary Honor The literary achievements of Mrs. Lenoir Martin of Richards-Martin School of Dance, has again been recognized and this week she was notified that she has been made an honorary member of the International Mark Twain Society, for having contributed much to literature through her book, "The Wise Old Mother Goose" that was published in 1942. As a token of her membership she will receive an award from the society's board of directors. She already holds honorary membership in the American Literary Society of New York and the Eugene Field Society of St. Louis, Missouri. The Mark Twain society has awarded honorary memberships to such distinguished world figures as 'Bernard Shaw, Booth Tarkington, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Chief Justice Harlan Stone, Franklin Roosevelt, Eugene O'Neill and many other men and women of renown. Mrs. Martin is also an expert choreographer and her ability in this line has brought her commendation from the national magazine, "American Dancer." Death Takes Mrs. Elise E. Frese passed away on Sunday, June 10, at the Pomona Valley hospital. Born October 7, 1883, in Germany she was 61 years old at the time of her passing. She had been visiting with relatives on Lincoln avenue for the past four months when she became ill. Surviving are three sons, Elmer Frese, Herman Frese and John Frese, all of Pender, Neb.; two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Wacker of Orange and Mrs. Olga Tonjes of Pender, Neb., and fifteen grandchildren. The deceased was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church in Pender. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars chapel. The body was shipped to the home in Pender for interment. The value of citrus products processed in the U.S. is estimated at two hundred million dollars annually.
