Girl Reserves and Hi Y Hold Joint Dinner Meeting Junior and Senior Girl Reserves joined with the Hi-Y group this week for a pot-luck supper and program that was held in the recreational rooms of the White Temple Methodist church. Speaker for the evening was Mrs. Schaler Arnold of Anaheim, member of the Fullerton YWCA board. Her subject was "Things to Consider in Choosing a Life Mate." She stressed the need of knowing one another's family in order to know inherited health traits and compatibility in standards of living and religion. She told the young people that if they couldn't get along with parents, sisters and brothers they would not make good husbands or wives just because the preacher spoke a few words at a marriage ceremony. She also stressed the importance of knowing whether or not the other contracting party wanted a family and children and pointed out that statistics prove that there are fewer divorces where there are children and that there is more certainty of lasting happiness. If a young person considers himself old enough to be married then he is old enough to save money, Mrs. Arnold stated and added that it is impossible to really know a person through dances or shows. Mutual conversation and outdoor activities are the best way to become acquainted, she said. In concluding her talk she urged that if either party contemplating marriage felt that he or she didn't have a chance of lasting happiness that the engagement should be broken immediately for in the end there would be less heart-break than in trying to go through with marriage. Mrs. A. J. Schutte Named Chairman Of Home Dept. Mrs. A. J. Schutte has again been named chairman of the Anaheim home department of the Farm Center and those who will serve with her are Mrs. R. C. The group met recently at the city park and enjoyed a talk by Rudy Boysen on the culture of flowers, plants, shrubs and trees. Afterward he conducted them through the glass houses where new plants are bedded. Simple Rites Unite Mrs. Pauline Guthrie and H.
