CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
"Adam and Fallen Man" is the subject of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon in all branches of the Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. The Golden Text from Romans reads,
"They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God."
A selection from Luke recounts that as Jesus "was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath... behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he... said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God."
Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures;" "The divine nature was best expressed in Christ Jesus who threw upon mortals the truer reflection of God and lifted their lives higher than their poor though-models would allow thoughts which presented man as fallen, sick, sinning and dying."

TANKER IS NAMED FOR FULLERTON OILFIELD
A speed tanker, "Fullerton Hills," was launched by the Marinship corporation at Sausalito last Friday and was named for an oilfield located at Fullerton. Invitations for the ceremony were sent to Mayor William Montague of Fullerton and to Carroll Cone, president of the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce and a former Anaheim resident, to represent their city at the launching. This ship is one of a series of 36 comprising the "Hills" class named for California oilfields.
Mayor and Mrs. Montague attended the ceremony as did Miss Elizabeth Chapman, granddaughter of late C. C. Chapman, first mayor of Fullerton and Barbara Lang of Fullerton. Both young women are attending Stanford university.
Leading officials of the San Francisco Security conference in this way paid their tribute to the victory merchant fleets of the United Nations.
Mrs. Henry F. Grady, wife of the chairman of the San Francisco Citizens committee for the conference christened the ship at 7 o'clock in the evening. Miss Minerva Bernardino, delegate to the conference from the Dominican Republic, was maid of honor.
The 523-foot "Fullerton Hills" is the 83rd Marinship vessel contributed to United Nations victory in less than three years of war production. Built to a super-modern important women of the western hemisphere. In addition to her duties as delegate from the important Central American republic to the United Nations conference on international organization, she is delegate from the Dominican republic and chairman of the inter-American committee of women which has offices in Washington with the Pan-American Union. She has maintained headquarters in Washington for the past nine years.
Anaheim Couple Found Innocent Of Car Negligence
Loser for the second time in an action brought by Mrs. Agnes C. Hanson against Mr. and Mrs. Ira M. Faublon of this city, the plaintiff was denied damages of $31,000 last week in superior court. A jury of nine men and three women reached the decision after only 28 minutes deliberation.
Mrs. Hansen contended that the defendant was negligent when his car struck her as she walked across the street at Water St. and 101 Highway. The defendants contended the plaintiff was guilty of contributory negligence.
More than a year ago Judge Raymond H. Thompson presided at a trial without jury and found for the defendant, then granted the plaintiff a motion for a new trial. At the trial just concluded Judge Kenneth E. Morrison presided.

Large Crowd Gather To Hear Bombardier
Shore patrolmen were somewhat concerned Saturday evening when they drove past USO canteen on West Center street and saw a large crowd blocking the entranceway and filling the sidewalk in front of the canteen. Crowds usually met that trouble is brewing, but the crowd looked pretty quiet and tented... still they figured that had better investigate. They came and this is what they found.
S/Sgt. Scott Warden, bombardier in the U.S. Army Air Force now stationed at SAAAB, was in the piano in the canteen "give out" with music and song ranged from boogie woogie through the classical Hungarian Rhapsody. His repetition included many novelty numbers such as "Rum and Coca Cola" and a Gershwin's difficult "Rhapsody Blue" as well as a score of eight time favorites and current popular melodies.
Sitting down at the piano play for his own amusement wasn't five minutes before Saturday night crowd had gathered in front of the canteen and for the next hour-and-a-half there were a smiling, intent audience. Now and then they applauded vorously as the 20-year-old turnee gave forth with music such as has seldom before been played on the old piano.
Within the canteen servicemen woke up from cat-naps and other stopped their ping-pong and played games or put down their coffee cups as they tapped out time to the music.

Henry F. Grady, who shared honors with his wife at the launching ceremonies, is the president of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and represented that city at the launching. The Gradys are parents of four children with all three of their sons in military service.

St. Catherine Students Honor Mothers at Picnic
Boys at St. Catherine's Military school honored their mothers last Sunday when a picnic was held at the city park. Almost 400 students, parents and faculty members were present for the occasion that will be given each year in the future.
Following the picnic the school played several selections after which students participated in two ball games.

The slim, red-headed bomber, without pause, went from one melody to another and novelty numbers gave excellent limitations of the drums, the clarinet, the slide-trombone and traps. The other servicemen smiled and forgot to leave on time for social engagements until no o'clock when the impromptu concert was over.
A shore patrolman looked at the crowd and said to one of the hostesses, "I bet everyone there would buy a bond right now if he were asked."
It is exactly what Sgt. Warden is about to do—help with bonds, and this week he scheduled to go on a two-week southland tour to help sell books for the Seventh War Loan drive. He has been in the service for two years and entered the Corps via the infantry. Not long ago he returned from seven months overseas combat duty where he served in Russia, Russia, North Africa and on many battle fronts. He has been convalescing at the Santa Ana Army Air Base hospital and will the war is over he wants to finish college and then go on with his music. Too young to play professionally before entering the service he has since appeared on many army programs and on the Dick Haymes radio show. His home is in Great Falls Montana, where his father is managing editor of the newspaper. Entered the service in December 1942, and took his basic air training at Fresno.

Buy More Bonds' Urges Chairman
The unconditional surrender on Monday brought an appeal from Robert H. McKinnon, War Finance committee chairman for southern California, urging everyone to join in buying an extra "E" bond to commemorate the occasion.
For a one-week period, all bond issuing agents will make each new bond with a special stamp indicating that it was purchased as a special tribute by General Eisenhower upon the feat of Germany.
The special stamp will read "Eisenhower." Such bonds are issued with approval of U.S. treasury department and are being termed "Eisenhower E day bonds."
"End of the war in Europe signal for us to dig in preparation to the start of a new phase of this great war—the final drive for the defeat of Japan," Moulton said.
"There is no time for slacking here at home. No time anything but harder work and larger bond purchases."
As the battle lines approach the heart of the enemy's homeland, the fighting grows fierer and more costly in men and material. Our men still need weapons, ammunition, food supplies to write complete wartory.
"The real way to commemorate unconditional surrender is to buy another bond."

Boy Scout Camp Will Open June 27
Wilbur Barr, camping and activities chairman of the Orange Empire Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, reported last weekend that the summer camp, RoKi-Li, will operate four 10-day periods starting June 27th and the camp bulletins have been mailed to 1,500 scouts and scout leaders in this county. As in the past years a large group will go from Anaheim.

The program will be troop centered with each troop coming under its own leadership, the leader being the guest of the Council. Set OPA Rules On Used Car Ads
OPA took another crack at the "black market on wheels" when new rules governing the advertising of used cars for sale were announced.
James Taylor, OPA's automobile price specialist in Los Angeles, said the new regulation, effective yesterday, Wednesday, requires all persons advertising used passenger cars for sale in newspapers or other publications, to include in their ads, the car's make, the model year, the model body type, the seller's offering price and the statement that the price is "within OPA ceiling."
Taylor said the new requirement is designed to aid in the enforcement of price control on used automobiles.
Car owners desiring to use for sale ads may obtain legal price ceiling information by telephoning war price and rationing boards, or by consulting the table of used car ceilings available at OPA offices or used car sales establishments, the OPA official stated.
