CHRISTIAN SCIENCE LESSON ON “LOVE” “How excellent is thy loving-kindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.” This verse from the Psalms will be the Golden Text of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon on “Love” in all branches of The Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. In reply to a lawyer's question, "Who is my neighbour?" Jesus, according to a Bible selection from Luke, told the story of a man who went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.” A priest and a Levite “came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, . . . came where he was: . . . and bound up his wounds, . . . and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.” When Jesus asked the lawyer which of these three was neighbour to the injured man, he answered, “He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.” Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "The supremacy of Spirit was the foundation on which Jesus built. His sublime summary points to the religion of Love." GRACE LUTHERAN Rev. Harold Knappe, pastor. Arthur Michel, Sunday school superintendent. Sunday school is held at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages. The morning service will be held at 10:30 a.m. So. County YMCA Hears Prisoner of War Address A special meeting of the South Orange County Y.M.C.A. board was last Monday evening at the Presbyterian church in order that members could have the opportunity of hearing a talk given by Dr. Hugh Moran, representative of the War Prisoner boad of the Y.M.C.A. who works out of the New York office, and who gave them much interesting first hand information. Dr. Moran is touring the country and explaining the world service of the Y.M.C.A in connection with war prisoner aid that is handled through the world's committee of the Y.M.C.A in Geneva, Switzerland. The dinner meeting was presided over by Garfield Allen of Garden Grove, president, and approximately 40 members were present from Anaheim; Laguha Beach Huntington Beach and Garden Grove. Mrs. Gerald Patton and her committee arranged the dinner. The speaker explained that the Red Cross has the responsibility of furnishing food and clothing supplies and taking care of correspondence for war prisoners while the Y.M.C.A. provides recreational, educational and spiritual direction in the camps on both sides of the lines. He also told of the many "next of kin" groups that have formed throughout the nation for the purpose of exchanging information and hearing speakers who have been in prisoner of war. RATION FREE SHOE SALE COMING UP Limited quantities of men's and women's shoes may be sold to consumers ration-free at specified price reductions during the two weeks period of February 18 through March 3, OPA announces. Two-fold purpose of the temporary ration holiday, OPA states, is to give consumers the benefit of extra shoe mileage that otherwise might remain unused on dealers' shelves, and to help clear their stocks of the normal accumulation of odds and ends and broken sizes. Before rationing, such shoes were customarily disposed of in seasonal clearance sales. OPA estimates that about 4,500,000 pairs of shoes will be sold in this special ration-free "sale."
