Frank Belmont, Jr., Home on Leave
One of the happy home-comings of the holiday season is taking place at the Frank Belmont home since the arrival last week of Frank Belmont, Jr., home on a 12-day leave from the U.S. Navy after almost a year of service in the Mediterranean area. He has seen service in the invasion sector but under Navy rules his experiences cannot be told until after the war.
Frank, Jr., joined the Navy at 17, when he was still a senior in the Anaheim high school, because his older brother, Jerry, was already serving with Uncle Sam’s Sixty-four men are scheduled to leave from the local selective serve board on Friday morning to report for induction. As a parting gesture, the members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, will provide refreshments of doughnuts and coffee and a short program. Jimmy Heffron will serve as master of ceremonies and the principal talk will be given by Grover Walters, prominent VFW member of Fullerton and head of the water and light department in that city. Susan Whippo, of the VFW Auxiliary, is chairman of the refreshment committee.
PVT. CAMBURN MILLER LEAVES FOR CAMP HOAN
Pvt. Camburn Miller, son of Geo. Miller of North Sabina Street, left Tuesday to assume his new duties at Camp Haan after spending the past several days here with relatives and friends on a short furlough enroute from Camp Maxey, Texas. His address is: Pvt. Camburn Miller, Bt. D, Gun Bn., 140th AAA, Camp Haan, Calif. Three years ago last Tuesday Camburn enlisted in the services and has been on foreign duty for twenty-three months of that time.
ORANGE AVIATION MATE LOST ON LIPSCOMBE BAY
Official word from the Navy Department lists Aviation Machinist's Mate LeRoy A. Grierson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Grierson of Orange, as definitely among those lost when the big airplane carrier was sunk by a Jam submarine over a year ago. Of the ship's crew of officers and men only 260 were saved, one of the lucky number being Marshall Bebee, Jr., of Anaheim who has visited his family here since the tragic incident.
Pfc. Geo.W.H. Missing in Acct
Pfc. George W. Hunt of Glen E. Hunter of Seif., and a former resident city, is missing in action Nov. 1 according to a notification received by Mr. Hu Washington, D.C. on D.D. George entered the s March 15, 1945 and was seas about October 15,
He is a graduate of the Union High School with about ten years ago quite active in the tenth of the local school.

Donald R. Rimpau Spends Leave H
Donald R. Rimpau of Navy, who had spent 21 days on leave from his duties Saturday to return to his Bremerton, Washingtonited here with his parents Mrs. T.R.Rimpau of We way and other relatives heim.
He has been in the more than two years months of this time w in overseas duty. He is e wear six stars for partici major battles in the Pa theater, being on duty o craft carrier.

Henry E. Davis Dies in Hospital
Henry E. Davis, 74 years passed away early 7 morning at an Orange hos

Incidentally, Jerry has been on duty in the Pacific while Frank, Jr., has served in the Atlantic and the two brothers have not seen each other for four years. There is a possibility that Jerry may also be able to come home on leave during the holidays, according to word received by the father Frank Belmont, operator of the Granada Packing House.
If the two brothers are to see each other at home during this Christmas season, however, Jerry will have to get home before Christmas Eve, for Frank, Jr., is under orders to report for further sea duty on that day.
ANAHEIM MILITARY POLICEMAN ON DUTY
NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES
Pvt. Frank Ramos Barrera, Combat Military Police, of 1042 Patt Street, Anaheim, Calif., formerly employed by the G. I. Barnes Construction company of San Diego, is a veteran of the Hollandia operation which cut off the entire Japanese 16th army and again advanced General Douglas MacArthur's forces several hundred miles nearer Tokyo.
ANAHEIM MARINE GRADUATES IN N.Y.
V. K. Rez, Rt. 1, Box 242B, Anaheim, has just graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y., and received his license as third mate and will be commissioned an ensign in the United States Navy, Merchant Marine Reserve. The Academy is the largest unit of the U.S. Merchant Marine Cadet Corps which trains officers for merchant vessels just as Annapolis and West Point produce officers for the Navy and Army. While an undergraduate, Rez served six months aboard a merchant ship transporting supplies and equipment to our fighting forces overseas.

Anaheim Marine Bomber Gunner Cited for Valor
Marine Tech. Sgt. Virgil S. Byrd, 20, of Anaheim, radio-gunner on a Marine dive bomber, has received a letter of commendation from Vice-Admiral J. H. Hoover, commander of a Pacific task force, for his participation in many flights over Jap-held atolls in the Marshall Islands area.
He was previously awarded the Air Medal for shootig down two of 10 attacking Japanese planes during an air strike.
Byrd's wife, Mary Lucille, lives at 148 West Center street.
Henry E. Davis Dies in Hospice
Henry E. Davis, 74 years passed away early morning at an Orange hospital an extended illness. His native of Illinois and had a resident of California for two years.
He is survived by his wife R. Davis; three sons, San Diego, Robert of Canaan and William of Los Angeles one daughter, Mrs. MaIntosh of Garden Grove.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Hilgenfeld Saturday morning at 10:30 Rev. Earl R. Berg, pastor Calvary Baptist church, vciate and entombment will Melrose Abbey Mausoleum.

Pfc. Geo.W.Hunter Missing in Action
Pfc. George W. Hunter, brother of Glen E. Hunter of Soquel, Calif., and a former resident of this city, is missing in action since Nov. 1 according to a communication received by Mr. Hunter from Washington, D.C. on December 2. George entered the service on March 15, 1945 and was sent overseas about October 15, 1944.
He is a graduate of the Anaheim Union High School with the class of about ten years ago. He was quite active in the tennis teams of the local school.
George was inducted at the Santa Cruz recruiting station.
Donald R. Rimpau Spends Leave Here
Donald R. Rimpau of the U.S. Navy, who had spent 21 days here on leave from his duties, left last Saturday to return to his station at Bremerton, Washington. He visited here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Rimpau of West Broadway and other relatives in Anaheim.
He has been in the Navy for more than two years and 11 months of this time was spent in overseas duty. He is entitled to wear six stars for participation in major battles in the Pacific war theater, being on duty on an aircraft carrier.
His present address is Donald R. Rimpau, SK2/c, USS Suwanee, CVE 27, Fleet Post Office, San Francisco, Calif.
