Their friends will appreciate it too. Clip this column and enclose it with your letter when you write them.) Sgt. Ted Sheridan Expected Home Sgt. Ted Sheridan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo J. Sheridan of 420 North Lemon street, is expected home today (Thursday) from Camp Polk, La., for a two weeks furlough and visit with his parents and friends. Ted has recently received his rank of sergeant. At the conclusion of his furlough he will return to Louisiana. Lt. M. P. Thompson Sent to Biggs Air Station Larry M. Lansdowne Spending Leave Here With Parents Larry M. Landsdown, ARM3/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Landsdowne of 804 North Los Angeles street, arrived here Wednesday of last week from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for a twenty days leave from his duties. Larry has been in service for a year and is in aviation radio work in the Navy. He enlisted on November 17, 1943 and received his diploma from the Anaheim Union High school with the class of 1944, his seat at the graduating services being among those which were empty. He has received his training at schools in Memphis, Tenn.; Hollywood, Florida and Ft. Lauderdale. At the conclusion of his leave he will report to San Diego for advanced training in radio work. Allen W. Wisser Home From Duty With Navy Overseas Allen W. Wisser, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Wisser of 126 North Helena Street, who has recently arrived in this country after spending the past several months in foreign service, was the incentive for a family dinner party at his parents home last Sunday. Another son, Edwin Wisser, USN, San Diego, was also at home for this occasion. Allen is in the Navy and has been on the Fanshaw Bay, a baby flattop which escaped total damage in the battle of Leyete. He has participated in five major battles on the Fanshaw Bay, this same ship having previously engaged in combat. Both Allen and Edwin returned to San Diego Sunday evening where Edwin will continue his training and Allen will await reassignment. Wisser, parents, and their sisters, Mrs. Marian Wisser Harvey and daughter, Norma, Miss Emma and Miss Alice Wisser and Mr. and Mrs. Sam E. Loard and two children. Wahlberg, Santa Ana. “This morning several boxes of oranges were brought up from the hold, and I was happily surprised to see the box labels marked ‘Orange-thorpe Citrus Association, Fullerton.’ My memories spring back to the warm sunny days and golden orchards at home in contrast to the gloomy, cold and wet weather we have had here continually for weeks on end. “The oranges were in very good condition, better than I expected after the long journey here and the rough handling they must have had at the docks on both sides of the Atlantic. “Tell Mr. Hypes and the gang at Anaheim Citrus “Hello.” I’ve been looking for ‘Mother Colony’ brand wherever I see oranges stacked.” Ensign Wahlberg has seen action in several battles in the channel before, during, and after D-day. Buena Park Man Has Arm Amputated The parents of James Carol Bailey, twenty year old son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Bailey of 302 Darlington Avenue, Buena Park, have been notified by the War Department that their son, who has been fighting with the Fifth Army, had his arm amputated above the elbow. Bailey of 302 Darlington Avenue, Buena Park, have been notified by the War Department that their son, who has been fighting with the Fifth Army, had his arm amputated above the elbow. He was seriously injured in combat service. Last week they received a letter from their son in which he told of his injuries and his misfortune but stated that he hoped to be home by Christmas. His letter was cheerful and he stated that he was in a fine hospital where they had white bed linens "just like back in the states." Young Bailey was in the infantry at the time of the accident although he had been trained for a paratrooper. More Service Column News on Page 4.
