Of special interest to the people of Orange County is the announcement of the special services at the Redlands, Calif.
REDLANDS, CALIF.—That the national over-all supply of oranges will be as large this winter as it was last winter, in spite of the hurricane damage in Florida, is the opinion of Robbins Russel, sales manager of Mutual Orange Distributors, on his return from a trip to eastern markets. In fact, taking the total supply of fruit which will be available, the transportation situation, and the employment conditions throughout the nation, there is very little anticipated difference between the marketing of this season's California navel crop and that of last season.
While in the east Mr. Russel, who was accompanied by Clark Donmyer, advertising manager of M.O.D., got first hand reports of the Florida situation as the result of the hurricane. He learned that out of an estimated crop of 36,000,-000 boxes of grapefruit, some 15,-500,000 boxes were ruined by the storm. This leaves an estimated crop of 20,500,000 boxes compared with last year's estimated crop of 31,000,000. Out of a pre-hurricane estimated crop of 27,000,000 boxes of early midseason oranges, 6,500,-000 boxes were lost, leaving an estimated crop balance of 20,500,000 boxes compared with 25,800,000 boxes last year. Some 3,500,000 boxes of Florida valencias were lost out of an estimated crop of 25,000,000 boxes leaving 21,500,000 boxes compared with last season's 20,400,000 boxes. The tangerine loss was only 300,000 boxes out of 4,800,000 boxes leaving advanced by OPA uncle disaster clause 45 cents in November and December, ripe f.o.b. ceiling $3.90 a box containing 1 3/5 b California navel ceiling price to May 1, 1945, remains a box containing 1 2/5 b Under the disaster clause FI grapefruit ceiling was added 81 cents a box for the month November and December ripe it $3.32 (except Indian Fruit). Texas orange ceiling $3.45 a box f.o.b. and remains that figure until March 1.

NEW SUGAR STAMP
VALID THURSDAY
Sugar stamp 34 in War Ration Book Four will be good for buying five pounds of sugar beginning Thursday (November 16), the Office of Price Administration announced today.
(OPA has been validating a sugar stamp—good for five pounds—every two and one-half months since March 16, 1943.)
The stamp, like other sugar stamps now being used, will be good indefinitely for buying sugar. Other stamps, validated in the past, which also are good indefinitely for use in buying sugar are Nos. 30, 31, 32 and 33.
Sugar stamp No. 40, validated Febrauray 1, 1944, is good for buying five pounds of sugar for home canning through February 28, 1945.
An amendment to ration order 3, officially validating sugar stamp 34 will be issued soon, OPA said.
If the cans in the thirty million cases of citrus juices and segments produced in Florida in the past crop year were placed end to end, they would circle the earth twice, according to the canners association in Florida.

The tangerine loss was only 300,000 boxes out of a crop of 4,800,000 boxes leaving 4,500,000 boxes to market compared with 3,600,000 boxes last season.
The total winter supply of oranges for the whole United States is estimated to be only 5,-000,000 boxes less than last year. When the California valencia crop's present estimate is included, this 5,000,000 box deficiency will be wiped out and the total year's supply will be about the same as it was last year.
Under these conditions and in consideration of the determination of the Florida Citrus Commission to maintain the grade of fruit shipped at U.S. No. 2 and higher, it behooves other shippers to put out a quality pack, since there apparently will be an ample supply of quality fruit.
It is doubtful that there will be any change in consumer buying power for some little time. There should be no increase in unemployment, therefore, the public still is in position to buy quality fruit at prices satisfactory to growers just as they did last winter.
Ceiling prices on Florida oranges (except Indian River fruit) have
