Sweeney of Burton Avenue, and Robert Joseph Truxaw, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Truxaw of South Los Angeles street, were solemnized last Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Church with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Truxaw, uncle of the bridegroom and pastor of Immaculate Conception church of Los Angeles, officiating. Assisting at the altar were Fr. Henry Gross, Fr. James Gallagher of St. Boniface church, and Fr. Francis Keane, Hollywood, formerly of St. Boniface. More than 250 friends and relatives were guests for the ceremony. The traditional wedding marches were played by Mrs. A. F. The altar was beautifully appointed with a background of white chrysanthemums and dahlias with palms and candelabra holding tall white lighted tapers at either end of the satin covered kneeling altar. White satin bows marked the aisle posts for the entrance of the bridal party. Immediately following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's mother on West Burton Avenue. The bride's table was centered with a large four-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bridal couple and was flanked on either side with white flowers and lighted candles. The young couple shared the age old custom of cutting and sharing the first piece of the bride's cake. In the receiving line with the bridal couple were the mother of the bride, Mrs. P. J. Sweeney, and Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Truxaw, the bridegroom's parents. Mrs. Sweeney was gowned in a fuchsia colored dress with black trim and wore an orchid corsage. LeVecke, and Mrs. William Sutherland, sister of the bridegroom, at the coffee urn; Miss Maurine Sweeney, sister of the bride, who presided at the cake, and Miss Jean Truxaw and Miss Joan Truxaw, both sisters of the bride-groom, who had charge of the bride's book and other duties. The beauty of the City Park greatly enhanced the exquisite blossoms that were displayed last Friday afternoon when the public was invited to enter their blooms and flower arrangements for criticism. The original plans for this show was strictly for a show of common weeds and after the announcement was made a large number of requests were received from local flower growers for the privilege of showing their prize blossoms of fall flowers. The members of the Garden Club were happy to comply with this request so the common weeds were also exhibited with several unique and unusual displays shown. The splendid and beautiful varieties of orchids from the collection of Mr. and Mrs. George Greder proved to be of especial attraction to the visitors. Preceding the opening of the show at two o'clock, a luncheon for the club members was held with the chairmen being Mrs. Elmer Hamilton, Mrs. A. E. Christensen, Mrs. H. F. H. Schneider and Mrs. R. J.
