CHRISTIAN SCIENCE "Christ Jesus" will be the subject of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. The Golden Text, chosen from Isaiah, reads: "Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the Lord, and my God shall be my strength." A passage from Mark's Gospel reads, "Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, . . . Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat . . . And he said unto them. Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature . . . And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; . . . they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" "The highest earthly representative of God speaking of Local Speaker Sees More Cooperation With Old Mexico Using his experiences and observations while on a mining project in Northern Mexico several years ago as his theme for an interesting talk, Leonard Schwacofer, local clubman, told members of the 20-30 club Monday night that he believed there would be more co-operation between the United States and the southern neighbor, Mexico, following the war. "A much more friendly feeling than at any time in the past now exists between the people of the two countries," he said, "and this spirit of cooperation will continue to improve to the mutual benefit of both nations," he predicted. Mexico's vast natural resources will be a valuable aid to production in this country while we will be able to help the people of Mexico raise their standard of living by providing them with commodities. At the same time, he added, with the assistance of American capital, the industrialization of Mexico will take on a new impetus and speed the day when Mexico can be made self-supporting. With the development of better highway systems, temporarily held up on account of the war, American tourist travel through the enchanting and varied lands of Old Mexico will further bring about a better understanding between the two peoples, the speaker intimated. Gavito and Sister Irene of the Order of the Holy Cross; and one brother, Gregorio Guterrez. Guest speaker at Tuesday's noon luncheon meeting of the Kiwanis club was Rev. J. Davenport, for 17 years a resident of Venezuela, who gave an interesting account of that South American country and the reaction there to this country's current attempt to "buy" their friendship. Naturally the South Americans are taking millions of dollars being poured into their country by this nation while they "laugh up their collective sleeve" at our gullibility. As compared to our past unsuccessful attempts to trade with the Venezuelans in our usual cold-blooded business way, he said, the Germans and Japs cultivated their friendship by first learning to appeared first to Mary Magdalene, . Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" "The highest earthly representative of God, speaking of human ability to reflect divine power, prophetically said to his disciples, speaking not for their day only but for all time: 'He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also,' and 'These signs shall follow them that believe.'"
