CHRISTIAN SCIENCE The Golden Text in the Sunday Lesson-Sermon on "Everlasting Punishment" in all branches of the Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, will be this verse from Ezekiel: "Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel," According to a Scriptural citation from Numbers, "Mirian and Aaron spake against Moses ... And the Lord heard it ... And he said, Hear now my words: ... My servant Moses ... is faithful in all mine house ... and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: ... And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, where we have done foolishly, ... And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee ... And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again." Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "This is sin's necessity,—to destroy itself." "Belief in material suffering causes mortals to retreat from their error, to flee from body to Spirit, and to appeal to divine sources outside of themselves." To add to the entertaining feature of the pageant, Mrs. Elizabeth Hunziker will play on the pipe organ throughout the entire program, furnishing the music for all the specialty numbers and for the pageant numbers as well. Two well known writers of this type of program authored "Youth United" and it promises to be a program of much information as well as entertainment. Blevins Davis and Adele Nathan, who wrote pageants for the Chicago Worlds Fair and other prominent events, are the authors. One of the most entertaining parts of the pageant will be a demonstration of the first game of basketball ever played. The original basket was a peach basket with the bottom removed and then nailed on a post. This popular game was started by the YMCA in their early work. Volleyball is another game that was originally started by the YMCA a good many years ago and is one that has grown in popularity during the years. Another scene of much interest will be the first boys' camp that was held fifty years ago. The scenes and customs will be in keeping with that period. In this scene will be depicted the indifference shown at first change of attitude after this group and accomplished their objective in this phase of their program. The backdrop will be most interesting and will be a map of the world which will be eight feet by eight feet, showing the sixty countries in which the YMCA has been most active during the past 100 years. The public is cordially invited and the admission is free to all. The local organization feels this program will be of great interest to everyone and feel confident that a fine crowd will be present.
