Ayers-Fellbaum
Marriage Held
Last Saturday
The marriage of Miss Marjorie Barbara Fellbaum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Fellbaum, route two, box 77, Anaheim, to Mr. Shirley Gilliam Ayers, was solemnized last Saturday evening at 6 o'clock at the Lutheran church before immediate members of the family.
The attendants to the young couple were her brother, Harold Fellbaum and Mrs. Fellbaum.
Those present for the ceremony were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Fellbaum and her grandmother, Mrs. E. Danker of 804 West Broadway.
Mr. and Mrs. Ayers are making their home temporarily with her grandmother, Mrs. Danker.

Engagement of Miss Stanfill and Cadet Graham Cleverly Announced At Party Last Saturday Evening
The engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Bonnie Stanfill to Av/C Robert M. Graham, was announced Saturday evening when Miss Standfill's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell entertained at their home on East North Street, with a delightful surprise party and farewell party for Cadet Graham, Mrs. Fenner Chambers, mother of Cadet Graham, assisting in the hostess duties.
A ruse was used to surprise the young couple when Mr. and Mrs. Chambers invited a number of young people to their home for an evening of fun. After the guests had arrived, they were invited to form a "Congo Line," this being wound around over the spacious living room and causing much hilarity, ending in the dining room where each guest was served with punch. The clever arrangement of announcing the approaching nuptials was tiny scrolls attached to each of the glasses. Shortly after the engagement of this popular young couple, Cadet Graham wrote a poem to her concerning their engagement. The words from this were used, each being placed on a scroll that was headed with the Air Corps insignia and Children’s Relief Group Hear Report On Old, New Case.
The Crippled Children’s Association of Orange met last Friday evening, ing their meeting at Drive-In Cafe. This was board of directors meeting was a most interesting session group hearing reports on old cases that they have working an as well as two cases that will be most interested to watch.

The refreshment table in the dining room was beautifully decorated with a low bowl of tiny varied-colored rosebuds and placed on a large blue mirror. Crystal candlesticks holding blue candles were placed at each end of the spacious table. Individual white cakes with a wedding bell decoration on each cake were served with the punch. Blue and white napkins further carried out the engagement motif.
Miss Stanfill is a graduate of the Anaheim Union High school with the class of 1943. She is attending Redlands University where she is president of La Ruedo Club, quite an honor for a first year student.
Cadet Graham is also a graduate of the local class of 1943 and is stationed at Santa Ana Air base at present but expects to be transferred in the near future.
The guests very pleasantly passed the evening with visiting and playing various games.
Those present to enjoy the delightful evening with Miss Stanfill and Cadet Graham, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fenner Chambers were Miss Vernice Hill and Ed Hill, aunt and uncle of Miss Stanfill, the Misses Julia Bartlett, Mary Harpster, Shirley Tozer, Margery Kraft, Marjorie Metzger, Lillian Fuller, Peggy Wilson, Charlotte Hodges, Alice Shoemaker and Barbara Farrell, Bob Roy McDonald, A/C Jim Burden, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Watt, Jimmie Vetter, USN, Sumner Gates, USN, Charles Hill, Tommy Bevins, A/C Bob Groh, A/C Roy Walker, Howard Withers of Long Beach and Charlotte Surbridge of Long Beach.

Children's Relief Group Hear Report on Old, New Cases
The Crippled Children's Relief Association of Orange County at last Friday evening, holding their meeting at Henry's Five-In Cafe. This was their first of directors meeting and was a most interesting session, the group hearing reports on several cases that they have been working on as well as two new cases that will be most interesting to watch.
The first new case reported is that of a nine year old girl of Sunset Beach, for whom the association plans to purchase a leg race and corrective shoes. The second case reported was a girl Anaheim who is about eight years old and who has a most unusual hip, having a very rare sease, with plans being made to purchase crutches and a pair of corrective shoes for her.
An Anaheim boy, who is eleven years old, and who has been a use of the association for over a year, was reported back in the hospital where he underwent another operation on one of his of the meeting. The reports of all committees were very gratifying and the members feel that much good work is being accomplished.

California school children led forty-four states of the Nation when they bought War Savings Stamps to the extent of $77,527,-500 from May, 1941, to February, 1944. Only New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois exceeded the California record.
B and PW Club Have Annual Election Of Officers Thurs.
The annual election of officers was the main point of business when the Anaheim Business and Professional Women's club met at the home of Dr. Hazel Nelms Thursday of last week. Miss Beulah Hineman was named president, Dr. Hazel Nelms, vice president, Mrs. Mary Heinlein, secretary, Miss Josephine LaRue, treasurer and Mrs. Sibyl Burdin, corresponding secretary. The installation of these officers will be held at the next meeting of the club.

Women’s Relief Corps Announces Annual Convention
The A. B. Paul Women's Relief Corps held their regular meeting Tuesday afternoon, April 18th, at two o'clock at the White Temple Methodist bungalow.
In the excellent committee reports given it was stated that eight hours of Red Cross work had been done by the members, a relief program of $13.00 had been given; Child welfare, $15.00; thirty-two calls were made, forty-eight bouquets were presented and 25 magazines given.
Mrs. Maude English of the Fullerton Corps was a visitor at this meeting.
The social club meets with Mrs. Katherine Peterson, 318 South Bush street, on Tuesday, April 25. A pot-luck lunch will be given at the noon hour and the business session in the afternoon. Co-hostesses with Mrs. Peterson will be Mrs. Mattie Dierberger and Mrs. Mary Nylen.
Announcement was made of the sixtieth annual convention of the Women's Relief Corps, Department of California and Nevada, to be held in Los Angeles on April 27, 28 and 29. The business sessions will be held in the auditorium of Patriotic Hall, 1816 South Figueroa Street.

Over a year ago when the Bellshaw estate was closed, the association was willed a lot which was recently been sold and a nice profit of $900.00 was made. This money is being put in Series 'F' ear bonds and will go to a fund that is being created by the society in the United States to give vocational rehabilitation to our service men and women that return from active duty. They feel that such a program will be much in demand after the war and the program of rehabilitation will be carried on nationally.

The main speaker of the evening was Mr. Carl Woodall, president of the Woodall Orthopedic Appliance Company of Los Angeles, who gave a very interesting talk and demonstration of his invention, the floating knee artificial leg, which enables the wearer to walk on his toes, dance, and handle himself easily in his daily life. This invention won the National Award at the show of the Inventors of America in 1940. Being physically handicapped himself since an accident at the age of seventeen, Mr. Woodall has made his life work the solving of the many problems that face the wearer of orthopedic and prosthetic appliances. Since the war he has invented a new laminated form of plastic and developed a hollow limb of this material which not only possesses unusual tensil strength, lightness and wearing quality, but has the advantage of resilience almost that of a normal leg. He is interested in the rehabilitation of war veterans and has a daily radio program, "Lest We Forget," over station KFWB.
The evening was in charge of the following committee: Dr. Hazel Nelms, Mrs. Ella Woodall and Mrs. Sibyl Burdin.
Margaret Duncan Recent Marriage Is Announced
Miss Margaret Duncan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan, who live in the 1100 block on East Broadway, was married two weeks ago in Texas to Mr. William Reese, whose home is in West Virginia, and announcement of which is being made.
The bride is a graduate of the Anaheim Union High School with the class of 1942. She is well known here among the younger set. Miss Duncan is a former student of the Richards-Martin School of Dancing, 719 North Los Angeles and has been dancing professionally for the past five months with the "Hollywood Cover Girls" company. At present she is visiting with his parents in West Virginia.

Miss Frazee is a former dance pupil of the Richards-Martin School of Dancing, 719 North Los Angeles Street, Anaheim, and her career is most successful. She is a ballet dancer and is soon to start on an extensive tour, going to San Diego from Seattle in the near future. The entire company will go to Mexico City following the engagement in San Diego and from there to New York City where they are booked for a long run.
Honor State Leader On Sunday
Helen Gahagan Douglas of Hollywood, Democratic National committeewoman for California, was honored last Sunday when the women's division of the state central committee of the Democratic party entertained at the Ebell clubhouse in Santa Ana.
The principal speakers for this meeting other than Miss Douglas were Alfred Robertson of Santa Barbara, chairman of the state Central Democratic committee, and B. Z. McKinney of Santa Ana, Democratic leader, and president of the State Bar Association.
Assisting in the duties at the tea table were Mrs. Mary Coons of Anaheim.
Wedding Vows For Doris Green Read Sunday Evening
Miss Doris Mae Green, 530 South Clementine, and Warren Theodore Judd, U. S. Naval Training Station at Los Alamitos, were married Sunday evening at Capillo de San Antonio with Rev. Thomas L. Burden, pastor of White Temple Methodist church, officiating. The rites were read at 6:30 o'clock before twelve relatives and guests.
Robert W. Hackett and Miss Phyllis Glass, both of Glendale, were attendants to the young couple.
Following the ceremony, refreshments were served in the out-door tea room at the chapel after which Mr. and Mrs. Judd left for a short honeymoon.
BPW Convention At Santa Ana Last Saturday, Sunday
The southern district convention of the Business and Professional Women's Clubs held at Santa Ana last Saturday and Sunday, had as the honored guest, Frances Marie Brey of Porterville, president of the California Federation, when the Santa Ana chapter were hostesses to this organization, with the six BPW clubs which form the Orange County Council, assisting.
The presidents of the county clubs held the business sessions, included among these was Alice Williamson, president of the Anaheim club, Dr. Mary L. Wilson of Fullerton and Marguerite Parks of the Orange club.
Music was featured at each of the sessions with the principal speakers for the two-day sessions being Miss Marguerite Twinem, recently returned to the United States from China, and Dr. Ballantine Henley, president of the Osteopathic College of Physicians and Surgeons of Los Angeles.
A most interesting program was held and much business was transacted during the convention.

Mr. and Mrs. H. L. King of Anaheim, announce the birth of a son, Danny Lee, born Wednesday of last week at 1:45 p.m. at the Lutheran Anaheim hospital. Danny Lee weighed 9 pounds and measured 24 inches in length at birth.
