Ceremony at Capilla de San Antonio
Mr. and Mrs. Ira M. Faubion,

announce the marriage of their daughter, Norma June, to William Ruddiman, of the United States Army stationed at the Santa Ana Army Air Base, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Ruddiman of Bridgeport, Conn., on Easter Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Capilla de San Antonio, Rev. A. L. Casebeer, pastor of the Christian church of this city performing the double ring ceremony.
The chapel for the wedding was beautifully decorated with calla lilies, white snap dragons and bridal wreath, with soft light from tapers in tall cathedral candelabra and the late rays of the afternoon sun casting a soft glow over the entire setting. The candles were lighted by T. Sgt. Gerhard N. Rostvold and Sgt. Floyd Jones, who also acted as ushers.
Miss Virginia Faubion, sister of the bride sang "Because" and "At Dawning" preceding the ceremony, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. J. E. Johnson, who also played the traditional wedding marches and a short prelude to the ceremony.

Miss Jessie E. Boyd, daughter of Mrs. Eva Boyd, 129 South Olive, returned to her home in Oakland last Thursday after spending several days here visiting. Miss Boyd is a lecturer in the school of librarians and is head of the high school library. In her teaching class, prospective librarians get their training.
HOLD Tea For Retiring Employee
The retirement of Mrs. Lillian Wilson of Fullerton from the Anaheim branch of the Southern California Telephone company was an incentive for an afternoon tea on April 1st, 1944. She is credited with 22 years of service with the Bell System, plus several years with connecting companies in California and two years with the U.S. Government Telephone company, Panama Canal Zone.
The tea was held in the lounge of the operators' quarters of the telephone company building on North Lemon street. Friends and associates gathered to offer their best wishes.

Miss Virginia Faubion, sister of the bride sang "Because" and "At Dawning" preceding the ceremony, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. J. E. Johnson, who also played the traditional wedding marches and a short prelude to the ceremony.
The bride was dressed in the traditional white satin, fashioned on beautiful simple lines, and a finger-tip veil held in place with a tiara. Her bouquet was a lovely arrangement of white sweet peas and heather centered with a white orchid and bouvardia. She was given in marriage by her father, Ira M. Faubion.
Her only attendant was her sister, Miss Virginia, who was dressed in a gown of blush pink maquisette and carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas. William Ruddiman, Jr., of Santa Ana, cousin of the groom, served as best man.
A reception in the out-door tea garden of the chapel was held following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Faubion and the groom's aunt, Mrs. William Ruddiman, of Santa Ana, and Virginia Faubion received the guests with the bridal couple. Mrs. Ruddiman was dressed in a black crepe dress with white accessories and Mrs. Faubion wore a navy dress and navy accessories. Both wore gardenia corsages.
The bride and groom cut and shared the first piece of the wedding cake after which the Misses Fern Faubion, Eunice Barnes, Evelyn Lieb and Beverley Johnson had charge of the serving.
Among the more than 100 relatives and friends who were present for the ceremony were the following from out of town: Mr. and Mrs. William Ruddiman, Mrs. Alice Ruddiman and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stagner, all of Santa Ana; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Housley and children of Hollywood; Mrs. Maude Stagner, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dachenhausen and Shirley; Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Taylor and Harold L. Taylor of Huntington Park; Mr. and Mrs. P. D. Maxson and Margaret Mattox of Long Beach, along with numerous friends of the young couple from the Air Base.
Mr. and Mrs. Ruddiman left later in the day for a short honeymoon in Los Angeles after which they plan to establish their home in Santa Ana.

Mrs. Clarence Rains of Fullerton, former telephone company employee and intimate friend of the honored guest, presided at the prettily appointed table. Mrs. Charles Quinn, another ex-employee and close friend of Mrs. Wilson, was in charge of the guest book. Other hostesses included Mrs. Kathlyn Wells, Chairman, Mrs. Frances Fitzgerald, Mrs. Charlotte Chandler, Mrs. Wilhelmina Keele, and Mrs. Margaret Murphy.
Vari-colored spring flowers and candielabra made a picturesque setting for the occasion.
Mrs. Wilson was attired in a trim soldier blue dress for this memorable day. Her gown was accented with beautiful white orchid and a double string of pearls with matching earrings, a gift from her co-workers as a token of valued friendship. The presentation was made by Mrs. Dorothy Jameson, chief operator of the Anaheim office.
Mrs. Wilson plans, when gas rationing is a thing of the past, to take some extensive tours. Meanwhile she will be busy with her garden, chickens and two cocker spaniels, "Dinah" and "Tuffy," at her lovely home in the Fullerton hills.
The guest list included Mr., R.J. Crissman, division traffic manager; Mr. H.B.Allen, traffic inspection supervisor; Miss Laura Pickle and Mr.J.R Stephens, traffic employment supervisors of the general office; Miss Edith Neel, traffic employment supervisor of the division office; Mr.J.C Norton and Mr.T.W.McIntosh, district traffic superintendents; Mr.J.F.Gray and Mrs.H.C.Williams, district traffic assistants; Mrs.Alda Gorton, Mrs.Helen Kennedy and Mrs.Winifred Faris of the Santa Ana district office.
Mrs. Faris was a former chief operator of Anaheim. Mrs.Fredonia Van Buskirk, Miss Kathleen White, Miss Lillian Lindsey, and Miss Marjorie Elkins of the Pasadena district office; Mrs.Edna Ross of Riverside; Mrs.Edith Kennedy of San-church, officiating.

Girl Scouts Make Plans To Entertain Troop Leaders
At the meeting of the Scouts held last Monday at the Scout House on Sourron, plans were laid for them to be held next month—the groups will entertain their leaders. This promises to interesting and entertaining.
Camp plans were discussed the Monday night meeting also discussion on the first drive to start May 1 was Plans are being completed to these two activities.
The Girl Scouts' next will be held on May 17 groups holding their meetings first Monday of each month.
Pan-Hellenic Volunteer Two Scholarships For Junior Colleges
Mrs.Jiggers Garner was tess to the members of the Hellenic Club at her home Grandview, Fullerton, on May evening, with Mrs.Betty Pco-hostess.
Mrs.Edith Caverly of 30 Center, Anaheim, president sided at the meeting and the business session, the clapped two scholarships to two for work at the Fullerton College. Plans were also owed for having a bridge berned furthering of these ships.Time and place announced later.

Mr. Ruddiman is a graduate of Fairfield High school in Bridgeport, Conn., and is stationed at present at the Santa Ana Army Air Base in base headquarters, in the Morning Report section.
V. F. W. Members Assist at Santa Ana Installing Rites
Installation services of the VFW Auxiliary in Santa Ana last Saturday was attended by members of the local chapter and also the Fullerton chapter. The Santa Ana team had charge of the installation rites at the VFW hall, Jim Sullivan, second district commander, being prominent in the program.
Members from the Anaheim lodge attending were: Esther Dougan, Susan Whippo, Opal Walter, Emma Daniel, Laura Tyreman, Mary Hund and Mollie Claes; Fullerton: Iris Birgo, Florence Phillips, Ina Cook, Ruby Jeffries, Bertha Johnson, and several other members of that lodge, who assisted in the work, and the following members of the Anaheim post, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Reagan, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moreno, Mrs. Frank Long; Mr. and Mrs. W. Ditmar, Geo. Miller, Margaret Householder, Grace Freese and Fred Green.

Garden Section
Ebell Hear About Begonia Culture
Mrs. Gene Frantz, leader of the Garden Section of the Ebell Club, introduced the speaker for the meeting held on Monday afternoon, prefacing the introduction with a poem, "Friendly Gardens," when E. V. Anderson, of the Anderson nurseries in Santa Ana, gave a timely talk on the culture and propagation of the sensitive begonia. As an added note of interest he displayed specimens from his own lathhouse, propagating these this past season. Mr. Anderson has won numerous prizes for his collections in begonia shows. He touched upon the subject of the culture of fuchsias and poses.
A delicious dessert course was served by Mrs. August Schumacher, Mrs. Evelyn Davis and Mrs. Ralph Focht, with each tray being accentuated with a cluster of sweet peas, the cakes topped with a miniature Easter nest.
Mrs. Ray Reafsnyder, Mrs. George Greder and Mrs. Ray Van Wagoner were elected to the nominating committee to report at the next meeting. A regular business session was held during the afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Schutz Honored on 48th Anniversary
In honor of the 48th wedding anniversary of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Schutz, a dinner party was given at Knott's Berry Farm last Friday evening by Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Payne and Robert Schutz, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Payne and Robert Schutz being children of the honored guests, and who live in Anaheim.
Preceding the dinner, the invited guests assembled at the A. L. Schutz home and all went in a body to Knott's Berry Farm, where they found the tables lovely with bowls of spring flowers used as decoration. A delicious dinner was served.
Unable to attend but sending congratulations were Lt. and Mrs. Chas. Schutz of San Diego, where Lt. Schutz is stationed and Lt. (jg) and Mrs. Warren Schutz and family of Alameda, where he is stationed with the Navy. A/S Howard D. Anderson of Minter Field, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Anderson, also sent congratulations. Additional guests unable to attend were Mrs. H. H. Heckman, who is attending a convention in Dallas, Texas, and visiting relatives in Colorado, Texas; Mrs. Sarah Anderson and Mrs. Emma Payne.

V. F. W. Auxiliary Officers Seated At Ceremonial
Installation of officers for the VFW Post and also the Auxiliary was held last Thursday evening at the IOOF hall on West Center street before an audience of between 150 and 170 invited guests and members of both organizations. Mrs. Opal Walter was the installing officer for the Auxiliary with the team of the Fullerton lodge assisting in the work.
Grace Schafer was installed as the president for the ensuing year; Mrs. Myrtle Mallin, senior vice; Martha Russell, junior vice; Opal Walter, secretary; Ida Trendle, treasurer; Susan Whippo, conductress; Bessie Poetz, musician; Agnes Hund, chaplain; Mollie Claes, patriotic instructor; Margaret Householder, flag bearer.

Camp plans were discussed at the Monday night meeting and also discussion on the financial live to start May 1 was held. Plans are being completed relative to these two activities.

Mrs. Jiggers Garner was hostess to the members of the Pan-Hellenic Club at her home at 848 Grandview, Fullerton, on Monday evening, with Mrs. Betty Price as hostess.
Mrs. Edith Caverly of 309 West Center, Anaheim, president, predeated at the meeting and during the business session, the club voted two scholarships to two girls or work at the Fullerton Junior College. Plans were also discussed for having a bridge benefit for the furthering of these scholarships. Time and place will be announced later.

Family Birthdays Celebrated At Bernstein Home
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bernstein, 608 East Broadway, entertained with a lovely party at their home on East Sunday in honor of five members of the family who had birthdays during April and to celebrate the Easter holiday. Those whose birthdays were honored were Harry Bernstein, Mrs. Earah Silvers, an aunt Miss Lilly Leibow, sister, Mrs. Francine Chase, a sister, and a niece, Miss Norma Leibow.
The entertainment for the day was an Easter egg hunt, and greatly enjoyed by the guests, and a magician's act performed by Charles Jacobs. The main feature of the party was the beautiful birthday cake, a piece of which was auctioned off by Maurice Bernstein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bernstein, bringing $15 on the sale. Mr. Bernstein added ten dollars to this and on Monday, Maurice and his brother, Billy, presented the $25.00 to the Red Cross.
Guests other than the honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. I. Leibow and daughter, Marylyn; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Jacobs; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Leibow, Mrs. Leibow's mother and children; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Leibow and two sons, Stanford and Lenny.

Minnie Raegan, retiring president, was honored with the presentation of the past president's pin following the impressive ceremonies.
Esther Dougan, who was in charge of the decorations, with her committee, used beautiful arrangements of vari-colored spring and Easter flowers throughout the hall, also using the same motif in the social hall where the entire assembly gathered after the rites to enjoy a social hour and a refreshment course. Mary Hund was chairman of the refreshments committee and Opal Walter was in charge of the program.
Among the lodges represented were members from Riverside, Fullerton, Costa Mesa, Santa Ana and Orange chapters.
The VFW post held their installation ceremonies the first thing in the evening with the ladies organization concluding the rites.
Convention of Assistance League Set For April 18
The annual meeting of the Assistance Leagues of Southern California will be held in Los Angeles on April 18 at the Mother League on DeLongpre Ave., meeting scheduled to be held in the Geranium room, according to an announcement made several days ago.
Souvenir booklets contain many items of church history in 1874 to the present presented to each family.

Church Birthday Celebration Held Last Friday Eve
Fifty years of happy memories and a full half century of faithful service was commemorated last Friday evening when the large concourse of friends and members of the Christian Church celebrated the fiftieth birthday of this institution, the event being held in the church. James A. Baker was master of ceremonies.
The principal address of the evening was given by James A. Hurst of Huntington Beach, which was of an informal nature. During his discourse he issued a challenge to the future, the goals set for the world of tomorrow and the place that religion will have in the new order of the world to come. He commended the local congregation on the past work in the church here.
The class of Bob Prichard presented the church with the beautiful picture, "Christ in Gethsemane," in a fitting presentation ceremony. The room was darkened and as this was being done, Miss Virginia Faubion, soprano, sang the lovely hymn, "In The Garden," as the picture was illuminated by an effective lighting arrangement.

Hold Meeting
Last Thursday
The missionary society of the Wesley Methodist church was well attended when they held their regular meeting at the church auditorium on Thursday afternoon of last week. Mrs. Myrte Addington had charge of the program on foreign missions, giving a very interesting hour of study. Mrs. C. H. Archibald presented the devotions for the afternoon.
The afternoon meeting was presided over by Mrs. Mary Oldham, president, who conducted the regular business session and heard reports of the various committees.
Mrs. J. H. Haines and Mrs. Lillian Mitchell will be dinner hostesses at the next meeting, April 20, which will be held in the church auditorium.
