Vance Fitzgerald Rites Solemnized In Vallejo, March 21
In a simple, but impressive ceremony on March 21, marriage rites were solemnized between Miss Virginia Vance, niece of Cleo McGaugh of Vallejo and Lieut. John Nelson Fitzgerald, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fitzgerald of 410 North Pine street. The double ring ceremony, witnessed by a few close friends and relatives, was performed by the Rev. Father Joseph A. Smith in St. Basil church, Vallejo.
The altar was banked with white calla lilies and candles and an organ prelude of appropriate hymns preceded the ceremony.
The bride was given in marriage by her uncle. She was smartly gowned in a soft gray dressmaker suit with which she wore snakeskin shoes and purse and a delicate pink hat and gloves. She carried a white prayerbook with orchids.
Miss Lois Williams of Vallejo attended the bride as maid of honor, and was attractively gowned in dressmaker suit of apple green with which she wore fushia accessories and corsage of deep red roses.
Lieut. Claude L. Preston of Anaheim, now flight instructor at Livermore, California, attended the bridegroom as best man.

Bride-to-Be And Recent Bride Given Attractive Shower
Miss Norma June Faubion and Mrs. Carl Richardson (nee Maxine Koch) were complimented last Thursday night at a pretty miscellaneous shower given in the parlor at the Church of Christ with Mrs. Wallace Leib and Mrs. Rollo McClellan as co-hostesses.
Miss Faubion will become the bride of William Ruddiman of Bridgeport, Connecticut, who is with the Army Air Corps stationed at the Santa Ana Army Air Base. Nuptial rites will be read Easter Sunday at the Capilla de San Antonio wedding chapel.
Mrs. Richardson was married last month to Cpl. Richardson, USMC, who has recently returned from overseas duty.
Games and contests provided entertainment for evening hours and prizes were awarded Mrs. S. H. Buckley, Mrs. Bernice Markley, Mrs. John Sweatt and Miss Faubion. Mrs. Al Casebeer was in charge of the games.
The honored guests were each presented with a beautiful camellia corsage by the hostesses.
A two-course luncheon was served late in the evening with the Misses Evelyn Leib and Virginia Faubion at the coffee urns.

Committees Named For St. Agnes Guild Bridge Benefit Tea
Committees for the springtime bridge benefit tea, given annually by the St. Agnes Guild of Michael's Episcopal church, we named last night at the monthly meeting held at the home of Mr. Howard Hineman, 207 South Kroger street. Mrs. William W. Grafton was co-hostess.
Mrs. Marguerite Olding and Ms. Hanna Clowes, as co-chairmen of the affair, named the following committees: refreshments, Norris Goodrich, chairman and Gertrude Hubbard, Gene Kuchel, Wilm Newland, Ethel Caverley and Katherine Shipkey; decoration Lois Warwick, chairman, and Carolyn Dow, Ethel Rundstrom, Gertrude Jackson, Florence Newkirk, Jackie Phelps and Elizabeth Arnold; prizes, Eloise Horne chairman and Pauline Brasta Gertrude Anderson, Mary Ree soner and Faye Kern Schult serving, Marjorie Frye, chairma and Lillian Knutzen, Fern Chowning, Jo Dahlman and Eleonor Chapman and tickets, Ferry Rossberg and Martha Grafton.
The party will be gijen on Saturday, May 6 at the Ebell club house and tickets may be secured from any of the members.

Mrs. Fitzgerald, mother of the bridegroom and his sister, Mrs. Georgia Rae Nieweg of Anaheim attended the wedding.
Following the reception, Lieut. and Mrs. Fitzgerald left for Anaheim and will spend their honeymoon here and in other parts of Southern California. On April 6 Lieut. Fitzgerald will report to flight school in Dallas, Texas, where the couple will make their new home.
The bride attended schools in Vallejo where she made her home with her uncle.
Lieut. Fitzgerald attended Anaheim schools, graduating from Union high school in the class of '37. The next year he attended Rutherford Preparatory school in Long Beach and in 1938 entered the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. He graduated with the class of '42 in Dec. 1941.

Mrs. Birdie DeLong was a recent weekend guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Bassler of Buena Park. While visiting them she accompanied them to Santa Ana where they were dinner guests in the Arthur Hodson home.
Walker Home Scenes Of Bon Voyage Party For Mrs. Hineman
Mrs. Howard Hineman was prettily complimented Tuesday evening with a bon voyage party and handkerchief shower when Mrs. Ewald Lemcke and Mr. Kenneth Walker entertained her honor at the latter's home 128 West Sycamore street.
Mrs. Hineman and daughter Penny, will leave April 7 for Providence, Rhode Island, where they will join Lieut. Hineman.

Those included in the occasion besides the hostesses, Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Lemcke and the honoree Mrs. Hineman were Mrs. William McCarthy, Mrs. Robert Rossbergen, Mrs. Helen Miller and Mrs. William Grafton.
Former Anaheim Girl Returns Here
Mrs. Cecil W. Hoff of San Bernardino has returned to Anaheim to make her home, temporarily with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Vogle of Nutwood road. Mrs. Hoff (nee Lucille Vogler) has many friends in Anaheim and vicinity who will be happy to know of her return.
Her husband, Capt. Cecil Hoff U.S.A., is chief surgeon in the hospital somewhere in England.
Mrs. Hoff is a graduate of the Anaheim Union high school, Fullerton Junior college and the University of Southern California.

Mrs. Charles Organ, who underwent a major operation at the Anaheim Lutheran hospital last week is now able to receive visitors.

Anaheim Couple Wed In Jackson, Miss.
Announcement was made this week of the marriage of Mrs. Naomi Wheeler McDonald, daughter of Mrs. Rena Wheeler of Sunkist avenue, to First Lieut. David E. Clark, son of Mrs. Inez Clark of Western avenue. The ceremony took place in Jackson, Mississippi on Monday, March 20 and was held at the post chapel of the Mississippi Ordnance plant. Chaplain Reinholtzen read the double ring service in the presence of few close friends and members of Lt. Clark's organization.
The bride was smartly costumed in a dusty rose dressmaker suit with which she wore violet accessories and an orchid corsage.

Mrs. Leo Friis was elected president of the Anaheim council of the Parent-Teacher's association last week at the regular monthly meeting of the group and will be installed at the April meeting that will be held at the home of Mrs. R. C. Hein on West Center street.
Other officers elected were Mrs. Richard Roehm, first vice president; Mrs. K. D. Figgins, second vice president; Mrs. Emory Simon, recording secretary; Mrs. Forrest Lee, corresponding secretary; Mrs. H. Vincent, treasurer; Mrs. Tex Middleton, historian, and Mrs. Burden, auditor.
The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. E. H. Kersten on North West street and was preceded by a delicious luncheon. An unusual Easter motif centered the table, the effect being carried out by a large wax Easter bunny, surrounded by her little ones, casually nibbling on spring flowers and grasses that were grouped on a large mirror.
The business session was principally devoted to annual reports. Mrs. Richard Roehm reported on the first class conducted by Shailer Arnold of Fullerton Junior college that was held at the high school auditorium last Tuesday night; Mrs. E. C. Anaheim College Women Enroll All Cadet Teachers
Due to the lack of teachers Anaheim young women are cadet-teaching at the University of Redlands under auspices University of Redlands, so education. They are Misraine Teasdale, daughter of Mrs. T. Wedding Set For
Saturday, April 8
Saturday, April 8, has been set
as the wedding date of Miss Bernice Linger and the Rev. Larry Ludlow of San Diego it was revealed recently to a group of friends who gathered at the home of the bride's mother and sister,
Mrs. Mary A. Linger and Miss Corinne Linger, 113 Emily street.
The engagement was revealed when a telegram was delivered to the home and read by the delighted guests. The marriage will take place at the Free Methodist church.
Miss Linger is a graduate of the Santa Ana high school, attended Los Angeles Pacific college, and is a graduate of Seattle Pacific college and studied at Whittier college. She taught in Hanford and Kingsbury schools.
Rev. Ludlow attended the Southern California Bible school in Los Angeles and is the service men's pastor at the San Diego Full Gospel church. He is also a worker at Mother Layne's Hospitality Home for Service men and pastor of the Del Sur Community church in San Diego. The new home will be established in San Diego.

Mrs. Fred A. Backs of North Philadelphia street left Monday for a visit with her daughter and son-in-law, Major and Mrs. Duncan Powers of Sacramento. Major Powers is with the army air corps and is stationed at Mather Field.
ANNOUNCE BIRTH OF SON
Sgt and Mrs. Barton Beach of Kenyon, Minn., announce the birth of a son, Barton Aase, on Feb. 26. Sgt. Beach is the son of Mrs. R. J. Beach of Rt. 1, and is well known in Anaheim. Mrs. Beach is the former Ardette Aase, who was with the nurses corps' at Camp Hahn. The baby weighed eight pounds and six ounces.

Cecil W. Hoff of San Berkshire has returned to Anaheim her home, temporarily, for parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vogle of Nutwood road. Hoff (nee Lucille Vogle) may friends in Anaheim and who will be happy to return.
Husband, Capt. Cecil Hoff, A., is chief surgeon in a somewhere in England. Hoff is a graduate of the Union high school, Full-Junior college and the University of Southern California.

Five Initiated Into Topperettes At Dinner Party
Five new members were initiated into the Topperettes at a recent chicken dinner held at Daniger's cafe in Santa Ana and as each initiate was introduced to the club she was presented with a beautiful camellia corsage. Those so honored were Beulah Morris, Dorothy Howell, Dorothy Anderson, Frances Steiner and Alice Lewis. They in turn will entertain the old members at the next meeting, April 4.
Guests were seated at a long T-shaped table that was beautifully appointed with large baskets of peach and almond blossoms.
Those seated, besides the initiates, were Reda McConaughy, Betty Redman, Jean Chamberlain, Doris Baker, Vangie Schumacher, Mildred Whitaker, Charlene Jaggers, Virginia Burk, Phyllis Woodrome, Rosemary Edgerton, and Betty Dodge.
RETURNS HERE
Mrs. Helen Roquet has returned to Anaheim and is now making her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Fowler. Mrs. Roquet has been in Oregon where her husband has been stationed.

Charlotte Hepp of Garden Grove was hostess last week to a YLI group that met at her home for Red Cross sewing. A social hour concluded the evening.

Anaheim College Women Enroll As Cadet Teachers
Due to the lack of teachers two Anaheim young women are now cadet-teaching at the University of Redlands under auspices of the University of Redlands, school of education. They are Miss Lorraine Teasdale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Teasdale, Route 4, ex 43, Anaheim and Miss Betty Wingfield, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar T. Wingfield, 1130 West Center street. Both of the young women are graduates of the Anaheim Union High school. Because of the demand for teachers most of the senior students at Redlands are signing contracts for teaching. The cadet teachers take complete charge of several school classes for a semester and in this way are able to get actual teaching experience. There are some 40 of these teachers in the area surrounding the university.
Farm Bureau Board Guests At U.I. Schutte Home
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Schutte of East Ball road were hosts to the executive board of the Anaheim Farm Bureau recently at a dinner party in their home. At a business session that followed plans were made for a ladies night meeting on April 11.

Mrs. H. H. Heekman, Commander of the local Navy Mothers' club left Saturday for Dallas Tex., where she will represent the local organization at the national convention. On the way she will visit her son, Warren, who is training at the Central college, Missouri State Teacher's college. On the way home she will visit Denver, Colo. and stop over in Berkeley and San Francisco where she will visit her daughter and son-in-law, Lieut.-and Mrs. Warren Schutz, formerly of this city.

MRS. E. P. WURTZ HONORED
A post-nuptial shower was given last week for Mrs. E. P. Wurtz of RFD 2, Anaheim when a group of friends called at her home. Hostesses were Margaret Crane and Iona Holt. They were assisted by Mrs. P. B. Lampman, mother of the honoree.
