Farm Advisor Gives Instructions For Preserving Eggs Lower prices of eggs at this time of the year have renewed seasonal interest in the preservation of eggs for a later day when eggs are more expensive. In answer to many inquiries, the Farm Advisor's office offers the following directions for preserving eggs in water glass solution: 1. Select eggs that are infertile and perfectly fresh, not older than 3 or 4 days, and preferably not so old. Choose eggs that are clean and free from foreign material. Do not wash them. 2. To one part of waterglass as purchased at the druggist's, add 9 to 10 parts of boiled or distilled water. Mix thoroughly and allow to cool. 3. Use scalded wooden or stone containers. A five-gallon crook is a suitable container and will hold about 200 eggs. 4. Place the eggs, small ends down, in the container and pour the cooled liquid slowly over them until the eggs are covered to a depth of at least two inches. PURCHASES ACREAGE W. P. Fluegge of Nutwood road has just finished levelling an acre and a half which he recently purchased from the Southern Pacific railroad. Cover all vessels containing the liquid, to prevent evaporation. Whenever the liquid is reduced by evaporation add more water to bring it back to its former level. 6. When small lots of eggs are "put down" from time to time in waterglass, put them in smaller containers and date them so that those first processed can be used first. 7. When processed by this method the eggs should keep 8 or 9 months. Candling is necessary to determine freshness and freedom from cracks in the shell and from blood spots or other foreign material in the egg. The egg best for preserving has a small air space at the large end and the yolk is only slightly visible. If eggs are home-produced, they should be gathered every day. House. Craemer To Ask Simplified Income Tax Law, If Elected “People expect to pay the costs of the war, but they don't believe they should spend half their time figuring out the bill.” said Justus Craemer, Orange County Grower, publisher and State Railroad Commission President, as he launched his campaign for election to the United States Senate. “My first official act in the Senate will be to introduce simplified income tax legislation. “Every honest public official knows,” Craemer added, “that there are not enough accountants in the world to check all these returns thoroughly; so the person who cuts corners hopes to obtain an advantage over the citizen who frankly reports the truth. “We were all told that the Prohibition Law corrupted our respect for all law because it was difficult to enforce. Just wait and see what this confused, chaotic income tax law ultimately will do to the average person's respect for all law.” Kiwanis Local Free of Debt The local Kiwanis Idyllwild in the San Jacinto tains has been cleared, debtedness, Charles A. Three Daughters To Share In Estate The will of Mrs. Rosetta Sparkes, who passed away last February 25, was filed for probate in superior court this week by a daughter, Mrs. Callye R. Sparkes Blum and it was revealed that valuable ranching property will be divided between three daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Blum of Anaheim Rt. 4, Box 240, Mrs. Nellie L. Snodgrass of 706 S. Palm street and Mrs. Philura L. Clemens of Huntington Park. Mrs. Snodgrass and Mrs. Clemens will receive 11.98 acres of the property plus interest in a water well on the land. The estate consists of real and personal property valued in excess of $10,000. The ranch property consists of 39.96 acres planted to walnuts and of this Mrs. Blum will receive 16 acres, plus all her mother's household furnishings, personal effects and her car. The will pointed out that this larger parcel of property was being left to Mrs. Blum because the land does not produce as heavily as the other acreage and Mrs. Blum has been under heavy responsibility in managing the property.
