Army Man Arrives For Unexpected Visit With Cousins
A first meeting between cousins was enjoyed Sunday in the John R. Gledhill home, 411 North Emily street, where Sgt William Holl of Milwaukee, was an unexpected guest. Sgt. Holl, who is stationed at an Arizona Army post, had been detailed on a mission to San Bernardino, and took the opportunity to come to Anaheim to meet his unknown cousins.
Miss Lilly Gledhill was the only one of the home's young people joining her parents in welcoming the visitor. Melvin Gledhill, aviation machinist mate 2/c at Los Alamitos Naval Air base, was not home for the day, and Seaman 2/c Jack Gledhill, Jr., who returned to Navy duty after a holiday visit home, is again on the aircraft carrier Saratoga somewhere in the Pacific. In a letter reaching his parents early this week, the young man said that it would probably be many months before he would again see his home and family.

Toastmaster Plan Ready to Launch For Study Course
Tuesday evening, Feb. 22, has been selected as appropriate Washington Birthday date for Anaheim Toastmasters to launch their eight weeks' course in public speaking, with a dinner event to be held in the Parker House.
As outlined by Charles Greenwood, general chairman, the course will provide a condensed study of fundamentals of public speaking, with instruction to be given by advanced members of the local club. It will be open to all men interested in developing or improving their speaking ability, who may enroll merely by contacting one of the club members.
The date for opening the study course was selected at the weekly meeting of Toastmasters club Tuesday night, under direction of President Richard Clowes. Dr. C. O. Patterson introduced the table topic of "Should We Continue to Have an Electoral College or Adopt the Direct Vote Method" which met with lively discussion.
In the speaking program with John Knutzen and Donald Schneider as critics, Royal Marten received the Patterson trophy for his talk on "What Price Children?" Second place and the Demaree cup went to Earl Smith whose subject was "Abraham Lincoln." Other speakers introduced by P. H. Pendleton, toastmaster of the evening, were Paul Demaree on "Calship" and Leonard Schwacofer on "Orange Blossom Time."
