Temperance Talk Programmed for Union Service Miss Ethel Hubler of Los Angeles, editor of "The National Voice" and equally well known as a radio speaker on coast-to-coast networks, will be guest speaker Sunday evening at the Union church services to be held at 7 o'clock in White Temple Methodist church. A crusader in the cause of temperance, Miss Hubler, who is a member of the National Temperance council, will discuss repeal of the liquor amendment, and its effects upon the social and business structure of the United States. Civilian Defense Board Announces Dimout Rules Continued from Page 1 Garden flood lights, tennis and badminton court lights will be restricted to one foot candle, which means the light intensity at a distance of one foot from a lighted candle. The glow of embers in the ordinary barbecue pit offers little danger, but leaping flames must be shielded from above. Use of flashlights is forbidden in any location visible from the sea, but elsewhere in the restricted area, such lights may be carried if the glow is directed downward and the intensity reduced by a paper behind the lens. CAR HEADLIGHTS Automobile lights in any area visible from the sea must not exceed the maximum of 250 beam candlepower. The average automobile uses from 20,000 to 30,000 beam candlepower for two headlights. Dimout areas are to be posted so that drivers will know when to reduce their headlights. According to Chairman Mann, Army, Navy and Air forces will make a survey of the area after August 20, to see if communities are complying with regulations. After their report, the city will know what action to take on the matter of dimming its street lighting system so that no glow will be thrown skyward. A crusader in the cause of temperance, Miss Hubler, who is a member of the National Temperance council, will discuss repeal of the liquor amendment, and its effects upon the social and business structure of the United States. It is on her program to offer statistics on bootlegging, and all the evils that have followed repeal. Especially timely will be her discussion of conditions in and near government military camps where liquor is sold. The Rev. H. G. Dymmel will preside and lead in the song service, with Mrs. Gooden, organist of Bethel Baptist church at the console. YMCA Secretary Jerry Patton will read the scripture lesson; the Rev. A. L. Horn will offer prayer, and Miss Margaret McMillan will be soloist. MINOR OPERATION Carl Fisher, jr., of West Anaheim, underwent a minor operation on his knee Tuesday at the Anaheim Lutheran hospital. After their report, the city will know what action to take on the matter of dimming its street lighting system so that no glow will be thrown skyward. Sugarless Sweet Will Refresh Wilted Appetite Are you hot and bothered? Here's the way to make "Raspberry Mousse," a sugarless sweet to top off a hot weather meal to perfection: Take two cups of fresh raspberries, wash and mash them, add 1/3 cup of honey and let stand for an hour. Then rub through a fine sieve to eliminate most of the seeds. Soften a teaspoon of gelatine in ¼ cup of cold water and dissolve it over boiling water. Add the berry mixture to the gelatine, stirring as you add. Set your mixing bowl in a bed of ice and continue to stir until it begins to thicken. Now fold in two cups of whipped cream and pour into the freezer tray of your refrigerator.
