Keep kites away from electric lines—that is the advice of the Southern California Edison company to boys and girls, according to R.E. Bacon, manager for the company in this territory.
"The following safety rules do not detract from fun of flying kites and may prevent accidents," Bacon said. "Parents, teachers and leaders of juvenile organizations are urged to emphasize these rules to children, so that the spring season may be free of hazards."
"1. Fly kites only in open fields away from electric lines. Choose the spot carefully, and remember that the kite string travel at an angle and may pass over lines some distance away.
2. Use fabric cord for a kite string. Never use wire, tinsel or cord with metal strands If a cord — AXE THE AXIS —
Tire Rationing Quotas Slashed
Certificates for seven tires and six tubes had been issued yesterday during the first four days of February by the Anaheim Tire Rationing board, following the reduction of local quotas from January totals this week.
Four truck tires and three tubes and three passenger car tires and three tubes had been rationed out as of yesterday.
Current quotas are 28 passenger tires, compared to 36 in January; 24 passenger tubes, compared to 32 last month; 46 truck tires, as compared to 73; and an increase of 80 truck tubes, compared to 64 has become damp from rain or fog, let it dry thoroughly before using it.
"3. If a kite or string catch in an electric line—let go immediately! Do not pull it, or climb a pole to bring it down. Telephone the electric, telephone or street railway company to which the line belongs, and a lineman with proper equipment will come to take down the kite with the least possible damage to it and the maximum safety to its owner."

THRILLING EPISODE
Another thrilling episode in Old Scout Murphy's rip-roaring reminiscences of our last frontier badman from Bodle, where miners, gamblers, and hurdy-gurdy girls dug more gold and raised more cain to the running foot than any boom camp in the West. Read this fourth installment of rid-in' trail back to the Old Wild West in The American Weekly the magazine distributed with next week's LOS ANGELES EXAMINER.—adv.
