I was cited into court and among charges, was one that I had no driver's license. What can I do about that? Mrs. C. E. L. A.—If your driver's license was valid at the time you were cited, then that charge will be dismissed when you exhibit your license to the court. TRAFFIC QUESTIONS Q.—When I come to a railroad crossing in the city, and a wig-wag signal is in operation and I do not see a car in sight, Must I wait until the signal stops before I can cross the tracks? E. L. A.—Section 575 of the Vehicle code provides that under the conditions you name, you are required to stop your car within not less than ten feet from the nearest track of the railroad, but need not remain standing if the crossing can be made in safety. WORTH WEIGHT IN GOLD Owners of the 32,000,000 vehicles operating on the highways of America today pay for their license plates at the rate of $10 to $20 per pound, advises a recent survey. In states exacting heavy license fees on commercial vehicles, truck license plates sometimes are worth more than their weight in gold. In 1941 motor vehicle owners will pay approximately $475,000,-000 for those bits of metal—an amount greater than the combined value of all the gold, silver, copper, lead and zinc produced in this country. This, however, is only a little more than a third the amount they pay out in gasoline taxes.
