Anaheim Union High School Husbands and Wives Guests At Annual Event Rain did not dampen the spirits of the 57 members of the Anaheim union high school faculty and their wives and husbands when they met for a gala Christmas party at the Lakewood country club Monday evening. Everything from a turkey dinner to an old-fashioned "meller-dramar" made the affair one of the most charming of the Christmas season. The evening began with the delicious dinner, served at tables appointed with red berries and red candles in unique apple-holders. Miss Winona Benson was in charge of table decorations. Special guests of the evening were Principal and Mrs. J. A. Clayes, Chester Shirk, faculty club president, and Mrs. Shirk, and Treasurer S. L. Keith and Mrs. Keith. After the five-course dinner, the guests adjourned to the living room where a large open fire greeted them. Miss Elizabeth Hunziker led the group in Christmas songs while Miss Dorothy Jester accompanied. "The Mystery of the Lost Necklace," a blood-and-thunder drama of the old pattern, was hilariously enacted by the new teachers of the high school, the women taking the masculine parts and the men assuming the "femme fatale" roles. Joseph Wilmore was the innocent heroine, Miss Margaret Hall was the protecting hero, Ralph Kings- Telephone Your News to Miss Anne Lee Anaheim 2414 Christmas Party Held Thursday by Women of Church Christmas cheer was personified at the party given at the woman's lounge at the White Temple church by the Women's Society of Christian service Thursday. Gayly wrapped gifts for the mission homes cared for by the church were placed around the Christmas tree. Mrs. F. R. Alden was program chairman and presented a galaxy of vocal chorus and instrumental music and readings. Mrs. Walter Ross sang two carols; Kathryn Gauer gave piano selection; the Anaheim Union high school stringed ensemble, directed by William Cook played three numbers; Miss Etho Campbell's Fremont Trouverie sang three numbers and Mary Joan Alden gave a clever skit. Mrs. Dwight Smith will act as secretary in place of Mrs. George Graham, who underwent a major operation Monday. Several Christmas parties of the various circles were announced. Mrs. Melissa Hauswald gave the devotionals of the Christmas story accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Foch. Hostesses for the tea hour were the Mesdames E. L. Hein, M. A. Gauer, Wilbert Bonney, Guy Holman, Louis Hoskins and Harry Jayne. Poinsettias and Japanese paper tree blossoms provided the lovely Christmas setting. The hall was festively decorated with silver bells and garlands of Christmas colors. Carol Bushman’s Birthday Feted Little Coral Bushman was honored guest Sunday at a cleverly-appointed birthday dinner given at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Casebier of 601 South Lemon street. Carol is the fcur-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bushman of 211 Ellsworth street. Appointments were in soft pastel shades and a 4:30 o’clock supper was served to the friends and relatives gathered to wish the little girl “Happy Birthday.” She received many lovely gifts. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Quarton, the honored guest’s maternal grandparents, and Mr. and Mrs. John Bushman, her paternal grandparents. Mrs. Mattie Bell Home from Visit Mrs. Mattie Bell, of South Helena street, returned Sunday from a two-week visit with her grandson and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Burnell Baker of Los Angeles. No sooner had she returned home than she was confined to bed with the flu. Mrs. Bell brought back word that Mr. Baker, a well-known former resident of Anaheim, would move back to this city early in the new year, due to newly completed business relations. With him will be Mrs. Baker and their Students of the Richards-Martin dance studio were treated Monday and Tuesday to a gay Christmas party held at the studio. A beautiful Christmas tree stood in the middle of the festively decorated room. Poinsettias and wreaths added a seasonal touch Santa Claus, in person, attended the two-day party and conferred with the children. All the little guests were given Christmas presents of candy, fruits and nuts. Mothers of the various dance classes assisted Mrs. Richards-Martin in hostess duties. Both afternoons were spent in informal enjoyment. Carols were sung and students called upon to entertain with several song-and-dance numbers. Special dancing games were held. Former School Mates Gather for Party School mates several years ago a group of young matrons met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Charles Raggio of Whittier for a gay Christmas party. The evening was spent in reminiscing and exchanging gifts. The Raggio home was beautifully decorated with seasonal appointments. Refreshments were served later in the evening. Attending were Mrs. Marcella Pack, South Gate, Mrs. Kati Williams and Mrs. Lorrenet Berry Whittier, Mrs. Helen Dickenson Centralia, Washington, Mrs. Mary Ferguson, Fullerton, Mrs. Irene Lund, Mrs. Eunice Sipple, Mrs. Nina Backs and Mrs. Edith Parks all of Anaheim. Auxiliary Members Attend Meeting Mrs. Mabel Sullivan department president of the V.F.W auxiliary made her official visit to the second district Christmas party and regular meeting held Thursday at Fullerton V.F.W.hall. Represented were Anaheim Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Orangi Riverside Beaumont San Jacinto Elsinore Coachella and Fullerton Distinguished guests were Mr Mattie Barr, Mrs Esther Hendrickson Mrs Myrtle Kepplinge Mrs Elsie Watson and Mr Thelma Price all of Los Angelo and Mrs Iva Iset second district president from San Jacinto and Mrs Edith Mauer of Orange. After the business meeting and party,the 150 guests and members were served refreshments in the dining hall.A miniature tree and gifts were presented to Mr Sullivan. Beavers of Stanton was hostess Monday evening to the Magnolia 4-H club's Christmas party at her home. Holly enlivened the Christmas setting of seasonal flowers and decorations. Games were played, with prizes going to Elsie Rice, Frances Domries and Mrs. Hazel Davis. Delightful refreshments were served at individual tables, after which gifts were exchanged. Enjoying the affair were Dorothy and Mary Jane Beavers, co-hostesses with their mother; Elsie Rice, Verna Rice, Betty Lou Benson, Frances Damries, Ruth Ann Lindley, Helen Lindley, Ruth David, Sybil Baker, Cynthia Dudley and Mrs. Hazel Davis. Elks Ladies' Club Has Card Session Bridge was the diversion of the afternoon when the Elks Ladies' club met Friday for their regular gathering. Winning prizes were Mrs. C. Arnold, Mrs. Nina Miller and Mrs. Herman Schindler. Announcement was made of the postponement of further meetings in December, and that the first January meeting will be Jan. 10. Hoskins of South Los Angeles street Saturday night seemed more realistic when the 45 post-office employees and their families braved the cold to attend, and huddled around the comforting fire. Hostesses were Mrs. Hoskins, Mrs. Roy Pendleton, Mrs. Harvey Kirk and Mrs. E. R. Deering. Informal games were the diversion of the evening, and gifts were exchanged around the beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Light refreshments were served and candy Santa Clauses were given as favors. Weekly Card Club Meets at Nash Home Fun reigned supreme Saturday night when the Weekly Card club held its annual Christmas party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Nash, 710½ West Santa Ana st. Husbands of regular members were the honored guests of the evening. Gifts were exchanged and "cootie" was the diversion of the evening, with prizes going to Mrs. Jeannette Van Delden and Mrs. Wes Dierberger in the women's division and Wes Dierberger and Walt Nankervis winning in the mens' division. The Nash home was decorated in the Christmas theme, with white roses and poinsettias giving a festive touch. A buffet supper was served later in the evening. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nankervis, Garden Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Wes Dierberger, Mr. and Mrs. "Sammy" Barnes, Mrs. Henry Van Delden and Mr. and Mrs. Nash. Missionary Society Meets at Baker Home Mrs. Gerald Baker hostessed the regular meeting of the Missionary society of the Church of Christ Thursday at her home, 114 South Cherry street. Hans for the annual dinner, in stipulation of officers and revealing of "flower sisters" January were made during the business session. Mrs. A. B. Cross was named decoration chairman. New officers to be installed are Mr. Rilla Miner, president; Mrs. J. J. Johnson, vice-president; Mr. Clarence Granere, secretary; Mr. Pearl Otta, treasurer, and Mr. A. B. Cross, flower chairman. The afternoon study was presented by Mrs. Miner, assisted by Mrs. Earl Boatman and Mrs. J. Daugherty. Mrs. Charles Miner and Mrs. George Watts assisted Mrs. Baker in serving the holiday refreshments. Miss Wilma Kerr To Attend Conclave Miss Wilma Kerr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Kerr of E Adele street, will attend the University of Redlands' co-education student Christian association session to be held this year Asilomar, on Monterey peninsula during the Christmas holidays. Miss Kerr was active in high school clubs and organizations and has joined many Redland university organizations, and he is the position of social chairman the YWCA. Gleason Miss Mary Easton, daughter of Mrs. Louis B. Easton of Harboulevard, Anaheim, was married Sunday to John Howes Gleason son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Berger Gleason of Boston, Mass., at home of Mr. and Mrs. Earle Weiler of Los Angeles. Dean A. G. M. Bode, former rector of the St. Michael's Episcopal church, Anaheim, perform the ceremony in the presence of the families. The ceremony performed before an altar where gardenias were massed at the base of a figure of the madonna. Christmas decorations were carried by sliver garlands and balls. The bride wore a smart cisture of brown and carried broth orchids. The new Mrs. Gleason is a graduate of Anaheim uni-high school and the University California at Berkeley. She taught art at Scripps college several years. The bridegroom graduated from Harvard university and attended Oxford university in England, is now assistant professor of history at Pomona college. After January 1, Mr. and Mrs. Gleason will be at home at Baughman, Claremont. Catherine Schroeder Honored at Shower Miss Catherine Schroeder honored Thursday evening with a surprise miscellaneous Giant Toys in the Making—Toys towering 15 feet high, and which will be moving replicas of famous children's toys, including many Walt Disney's famous creations, will highlight the spectacular Santa Annual Frolic parade to be staged in Santa Ana, at 9 P.M. New Year's Eve. Above is shown Madeline Best putting the finishing touches to one of the giant toys in the worship where they are being constructed. Marilynn Daigle Feted on Birthday Marilynn Daigle was complimented Friday afternoon with a gay party honoring her 10th birthday, given at the family home at 521 North Zeyn street by Mrs. Daigle. Mrs. John Beeson assisted in hostess duties. Even if the day was Friday the thirteenth and 13 guests were invited, the party was a tremendous success. Games were the diversion of the afternoon, with prizes going to Priscilla Orman, David Alsip, Gary Oelrich and Thelma Beeson. Informal songs were enjoyed by the entire group. Marilynn opened many lovely gifts, after which holiday refreshments were served, including a birthday cake with the inscription "Happy Birthday, Marilynn." Poinsettas were cleverly worked into the decorations of the cake. Red candles shed a soft glow as the refreshments were being served to Patty Mann, Michael Mann, Jacqueline Orman, Caroline and Joan Carter, Gene Beeson, Phillip LaMori, Eva Cottle, Priscilla Orman, David Alsip, Gary Oelrich and Thelma Beeson. Mrs. Herman Schacht Will Head Class Members of the Keystone class of the Church of Christ elected Mrs. Herman Schacht president at the festive party held Friday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Johnson in Orange Acres. Other officers named were Clyde Owings, vice-president; Mrs. Mildred Hardy, secretary-treasurer; Herman Schacht, song leader, and Mrs. Dorothy Heinze, reporter. Resh street, by the Misses Lo and Elsie Willers. Miss Schroeder is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Schroeder of Anaheim and will marry Lemons January 9. Court wives was played and Miss Margaret Musch and Miss Lorriane Teasley won prizes. Christmas decorations were ried out in the red and green motif, with poinsettas adding festive touch. At the dining table miniature snowmen of pop-served as placecards, and the cakes were mounted by small vending bells. Miss Schroeder for recipes tucked inside each loft gift as she opened it. Complimenting Miss Schroeder were Mrs. George Schroeder, Berthel Lemons, Mrs. Henry Viers, the Misses Aline Schroeder Myrtle Geissler, Lorraine Tale dale, Esther Suhr, Dora Yo Olivette Popp, Rose Bouas, Irene Lemke, Betty White, Margaret Musch, Wanda Morgan, R.Gilger, Gertrude Klausing and hostesses. Those sending but unable to attend were Mildred Geissler of Santa Barbara and Miss Helen Heinemann Olive. One high school in New York has 10,000 male students. Employees of Gas Company Celebrate Employees of the Southern Counties Gas company in Orange county enjoyed their annual Christmas party Thursday evening at the Elks' club. Fred Merker, manager, opened the meeting at which R. H. Shallenberger and Wayne Tibbs assisted as general committeeemen. From the Los Angeles office came R. McKee and Tony Coombes as special guests. A delicious turkey dinner was served to the 300 guests, after which a six-act vaudeville show from Los Angeles was presented. Dancing was the diversion of the rest of the evening. Music provided the evening's entertainment, with Miss Margaret Hein singing and Miss Arlowine Kroeger and Miss Gertrude Fowler playing piano selections. A beautifully decorated tree centered the Christmas decorations, around which gifts were exchanged. Carols were sung at the conclusion of the entertainment. Mrs. Gladstone Brubaker and Mrs. Darrell Parkin assisted Mrs. Stuard in serving a late supper. Thirty members of the company's sales staff enjoyed the party. Mary Easton Homes Bride of John H. Gleason Mary Easton, daughter of Louis B. Easton of Harborward, Anaheim, was married by John Howes Gleason, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bemis, son of Boston, Mass., at the age of Mr. and Mrs. Earle Webs-Los Angeles. A. G. M. The first was a tiny replica of the nativity. A frost-spangled snow scene was protrayed by the second scene, a package-heavy Santa in the third, and a beautiful arrangement of bright globes and ornaments in the fourth scene. Mrs. Rudolph Wetzel was committee chairman and was assisted by Miss Norma Bastanchury, Mrs. Bridget Thomas, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones and Miss Babette Stein. Forty-four attended, and Rev. Father Patrick Keane was special guest. He pleaded guilty when arraigned before City Judge Frank Tausch and chose a 50-day jail sentence rather than pay a fine of $100. His operator's license was suspended.
