Virgil Harman Home Scene of Twenty-Four Persons Enjoy Gay Evening
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harman were hosts Sunday evening at a very novel and cleverly-arranged Christmas dinner and bridge party at their home at 518 South Indiana street.
The home was decorated for the affair with silver bells, wreaths and a large lighted Christmas tree. A miniature snow scene of pine boughs, snow, logs and deer was cleverly arranged on the mantel. The room was cozy with a crackling log fire and from each side of the fireplace hung a red stocking filled with toys, candy and small articles. Guests were asked to draw one article, from which their dinner partners were chosen by the corresponding article.
The table appointments were in keeping with the Christmas theme. The cloths were green and red and centered with a red starbased candle. A unique refreshment course was served in the individual plum puddings centered with burning candles.
Contract bridge was the diversion of the evening. Ten travelling prizes were the source of much mirth and the final winners were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Heffern, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Ralston, Robert Baker, Mrs. S. L. Keith, Mrs. Richard Glover, and Richard Ryan. Mrs. Glover also captured the women's high score prize and Mr. Ryan the men's high.
Elementary School Teachers of Anaheim Hold Annual Christmas Party Tuesday Evening
Anaheim elementary school teachers and their husbands and wife enjoyed one of the most charming Christmas parties of the season at the Ebell clubhouse Tuesday evening.
The evening began with a delicious turkey dinner served at a table attractively appointed with red candles, poinsettias, and based candle placecards. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Smith distributed canvases.
In the receiving line were Miss Laura Dean, president of the Elementary School Teachers club, Miss Lois Clark, Miss Clara Mork, Miss Della Fisher, Miss Edith Spencer, Miss Nona Plantnig, Miss Elizabeth Stroum, Miss Beryl Kennedy, Miss Alice Williamson and Miss Frances Gilbert.
Miss Katherine McCullah entertained with piano selections, including "Liebestraum," "Ballard in G. Minor," "St. Louis Blues," and Edward Valentine's adaption of "Mary Had a Little Lamb." Miss Jean Louise Sutherland gave an interesting reading.
Board members extended greeting to the group. Board members are Miss E. Kate Rea, Harry R. Fox, E. E. Smith and Superintendent M. A. Gauer. Mr. Gauer led the group in singing, accompanied by Miss Ethel Campbell.
Social chairman of the evening was Miss Nona Planting; dinner chairman, Miss Elizabeth Stroum; decorations, Miss Lois Clark, and program chairmen, Miss Beryl Kennedy and Miss Alice Williamson.

Lee Benson, well-known Anaheim man, was married Saturday to Miss Atha Tallman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Talpan of Sebastapol in a quietly intimate ceremony held at the Methodist church in Sebastapol.
Mr. Benson is the son of Mr. Mrs. F. L. Benson of Keswick. The bride wore a sturdy costume of blue wool, with trim and brown accessories. Hides were at her shoulder.
Lois Tallman was maid of Helen Donald Dickenson, of Anaheim, was best man.
The Occidental hotel in Rosa was the scene of the dining party. Members of the dining party and the families of bride and groom were guests.

Telephone Workers Enjoy Celebration
Thirty three employes of the Southern California Telephone company met Tuesday night at Staar's Orange Gardens for a gay Christmas dinner-party.
A gift exchange was held around the lighted Christmas tree and carols were sung by the entire group. Mrs. Hilda Johnson, Miss Evelyn Maahs and Mrs. Minnie Stanley arranged the party details.

Church Adult League Honors President
Re-elected to the position of president of the Adult League of Salem Evangelical church, Mrs. Gladys Zahl was honored at the Christmas party held at the R. C. Hein home Tuesday evening.
Chosen to serve with Mrs. Zahl were Mrs. Edna Pannier, vice president; Mrs Mildred Odeegard, secretary; Louis Haman, treasurer, and Lydia Betz, corresponding secretary.
Assisting in serving were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Black, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stockwell, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Peters. Plans were made for the next meeting to be held in January at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. keller on North Palm street.
Legion Auxiliary Has Christmas Party
Members of the American Legion auxiliary held their annual Christmas party and gift exchange in the Legion rooms Tuesday evening.
Santa Claus, in the form of Mrs. Clark Scott, distributed the gifts to each one present and assisted the group in packing a box of gifts to be sent to the auxiliary's adopted nurse, a patient in the San Fernando hospital. The gifts will be sent December 20 with a committee from the county auxiliary organization who will go to the hospital to decorate ward three and take gifts.
Gift articles and food was brought by members for the Christmas baskets. Serving the delicious refreshments were Mrs. Fred Hayes and Mrs. John Jaggers.

The regular meeting of the George Washington P.-T.A. was held Wednesday at the school and an entertaining Christmas program was given.
The executive board met at 2:30 o'clock and made plans for the next regular P.-T.A. meeting to be held January 15, beginning with luncheon. Teachers will be guests of the pot-luck. It was also decided to sponsor a candy sale beginning January 14.
At yesterday's program Christmas carols were sung by fifth and sixth grade children. A one-act Christmas play was enacted by the drama department of the Anaheim union high school. The Rev. Stanley F. George spoke on "Spiritual Growth in the Home and Community."
Hosteses for the tea served later in the afternoon were Mrs. A. C. Hoffman and Mrs. Lewis fifth grade mothers.
Mrs. Jennie Lyon Leaves For Home
Mrs. Jennie Lyon left Tuesday morning for her home in Omaha, Nebraska, after spending a very pleasant two weeks with her aunt, Mrs. Jennie Nickles of 314 South Bush street.
Many enjoyable affairs planned by the relatives and freinds of Mrs. Lyons, including Mrs. G. McDivitt, Mrs. Merle Gautsche and Mrs. Nickles were held. Mrs. Nickles and Mrs. Lyon were dinner guests of Mrs. Bertha DeLong in Alhambra last Thursday. Mrs. DeLong is an aunt of the visitor.
Mrs. G. McDivitt entertained Friday evening with a turkey dinner in honor of her husband's birthday, at which Mrs. Lyon was a special guest. Mrs. Kiene of Los Angeles had as her guests Monday Mrs. Nickles, Mrs. Lyon and Mr .and Mrs.E.T.Nickles.
Tuesday afternoon Mrs.Gautsche entertained with a very enjoyable tea at her home, after the guests had bade farewell to Mrs.Lyon.

TOTS’N’TEENS CHAS YULE PARTY
Members of the Tots'n' were participants in a Christmas party last Thursday when met at the home of Mr Lemcke, 832 North Lemon ready to go to a “secret tion.”
The destination was the P.O.Box hotel, where a delicious dinner was served at a large attractively appointed with settias, red berries and Clever Santa Claus placed to the Christmas programs. Stockings of candies presented and a gift for each was hidden in the stockings.
After the dinner, the guest journeyed to the home of Roehm of Orange road, where Christmas atmosphere was sonified in the pine cones lighted candles over the fire An exchange of gifts been program, and the year's “Pal” was revealed to each renter.

Ebell Bible Section Program Dedicated To Mrs. Johnston
The Anaheim Ebell Bible section's Christmas meeting was dedicated Monday to the late Mrs. H. A. Johnston for her services in Anaheim. Mrs. A. P. M. Brown, group leader, led the dedicatory service.
Betty Fackiner directed selections from Handel's "Messiah," sung by a chorus of 15 women, assisted by William Fackiner. Heard in the service were Mrs. Ethel Kraft, William Fackiner, and Mrs. Lyman Harpster, soloists; and Mrs. Earl Requarth, Mrs. E. G. Beddall, Mrs. Floyd Stockweyy, Mrs. Melvin Hilgenfeld, Mrs. Fred Edwards, Mrs. A. C. Peck, Mrs. C. H. West and Mrs. Ralph Focht.
Mrs. Walter Ross set up special light effects for the beautifully rendered story by Mrs. Carrie Lou Sutherland, accompanied by Sutherland. Bible study was led by Mrs. Brown.
Mrs. R. L. Royalty, Mrs. Roy Helsing, Mrs. Walter Ross and Mrs. C. A. Sisson were hostesses for the Christmas tea served in the women's lounge. Lovely Christmas appointments were resplendent on the dining table. Mrs. William Falkenstem and Mrs. Brown poured.

The new Mrs. Benson is a graduate of Sebastol and Santa Clara schools. Mr. Benson is a graduate of Anaheim union high school and the University of California at Berkeley. He is now employed in the agricultural extension service in Los Angeles.
Present at the wedding were Mrs. Lester Tallman and daughter, Lois, and two aunts of the bride, the Misses Pheobe and Frankie Tallman of Sebastol, Mrs. and Mrs. F. L. Benson, Mrs. Nona Benson, Miss Esther Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dickens, of Anaheim and Mrs. Lucy Nelson, the bridegroom's grandmother, of Los Angeles.
Louise Gallagher Celebrates Birthday
Five candles lighted the beautiful birthday cake of Louise Gallagher when her mother, Mrs. Stephen Gallagher, invited 12 little friends to a party Friday at the family home, 900 West Broadway.
Assisting in hostess duties was Mrs. Patty Loly. Red and green appointments carried out the Christmas motif. Prize winners were Margaret Cain and David and Jimmy Kersten.
Complimenting Louise were Rosemary and Carolyn Poyet, David and Jimmy Kersten, Elizabeth Easton, Margaret and Billy Cain, George Critchfield, Leon Walker, Carol Truxaw, Gary Matoon, Vincent DeWitt, Edward John and Bobby Gallagher.
Mrs. Tews Hostess To Club Members
Mrs. Howard Tews of 322 North Pine street was hostess Friday afternoon to members of her bridge club for a Christmas party and dessert-bridge.
Individual tables were set with poinsettia centerpieces and seasonal appointments. A tiny and complete manger set in the music room gave a Christmas touch.
After the games, the party gathered around the open fire nad exchanged gifts. Enjoying the charming affair were the Mescames Thecdore Kuchel, J Ben Kaulbars, John Wood, Everett Cone, John Poyet, Wilbert Bonney, H. W. Wilbur of Tustin, B. B. Miss Walker On Visit
Miss Bella J. Walker left Tuesday for Tucson, Ariz., to spend the holidays with her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Walker.
Mrs. Graham in hospital
Mrs. George Graham underwent a major operation at Fullerton General hospital last Monday. She is reported resting comfortably as can be expected, but will not be able to receive visitors for a few days.

Mrs. Theodore B. Kuchel was installed as directress Monday evening when the St. Agnes Guild of St Michael's Episcopal Church met at the home of Mrs. Robert Easton, 326 North West street, for its annual Christmas party and installation rites.
Others installed were Miss Mary Reasoner, assistant directress; Mrs. Wilson Phelps, treasurer; Mrs. Robert Easton, secretary; Mrs. Harry I. Horn, historian; Miss Adah Wileox and Mrs. Faye Kern, Schulz, directors.
Plans were made for the third in the series of card parties to be held Friday, January 17, at the parish house. A corsage of camillas was presented to the ingoing and outgoing officers, and Miss Susan Hilleary entertained with several piano selections. Mrs. Edward Howell was honored guest. Mrs. Howell will establish residence in Catalina.
Mrs. Wilbert Heiden Hostess to Group
Mrs. Wilbert Heiden entertained members of her bridge club Tuesday evening at her home, 404 North Janss street, with a combined Christmas party and bridge session.
A beautifully decorated Christmas tree centered the living room, and a miniature snow scene was on the cleverly appointed dining table. Mrs. Carl Wollenman and Mrs. Fred Schafer captured prizes for bridge. Mrs. Henry Bamesberger won the travelling prize.
Seasonal refreshments were served at the conclusion of the games and gifts were exchanged. Enjoying the party were Mrs. Wilmar Trouttman, Mrs. Clyde Martin, Mrs. Charlotte Scott, Mrs. Carl Wollenman, Mrs. Clinton Griggs, Mrs. Fred Schafer, Mrs. Joe Sholz, Mrs. Lawrence Poirer, Mrs. Francis Elliott, Mrs. Earle Jackson, Mrs. Henry Bamesberger, and the hostess, Mrs. Heiden.
