Members Of White Temple M
All-States Event
Attracts Crowd
Of More Than 300
An all-state dinner was held last night at the White Temple Methodist church dining hall, with 300 guests attending the unusual affair.
Ten large tables were attractively appointed with decorations suggestive of the groups of states they represented. The hall was lined with state flags and Christmas decorations. Mrs. Ralph Focht was hostess chairman and Mrs. Earl Woodward acted as program chairman. The other acted as program chairman. Other chairmen were Mrs. Maude Adams as head of the kitchen staff with Mrs. A. C. Riutcel and Mrs. Kathrine Campbell in charge of tickets and reservations. Mrs. A. Scutt was dining room chairman and was assisted in serving by girls from the high school Epworth league.
The New England table was appointed in the "Boston tea party" theme, complete with ships, Englishmen and packets of tea. A skit was enacted by Miss Betty Fackiner, Mrs. Harry Fackiner and Ray Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs. Fackiner was table hostesses.
The Nebraska and Kansas table was gay with golden rod and sunflower placecards, with Mrs. Merwin Miller and Mrs. Hulda Granere as hostesses. Mrs. Hazel Granere gave a reading pertaining to the two states.
The northwest was represented in table appointments by a miniature scene of pine trees and lakes. Mrs. Thomas Burden and Mrs. Dick Dickenson were hostesses.

FETED THURSDAY
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gough (Cecil Wimberly) were honored last Thursday with a surprise post-nuptial shower given at the home of Rev. and Mrs. W. I. Gough of Fullerton.
Invited to a Thanksgiving dinner, the newlyweds found themselves honored with a shower. The rooms were decorated with huge white chrysanthemums and the table was centered with deep-red roses.
Gifts for the newly-married couple were presented in a huge white umbrella, the handle tied with a French noségay. Games were played during the afternoon.

Bride of George Rainey
Miss Bonnie McGavran, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.I.A.McGavran of East Amerige street, Fullerton, was married Saturday to George Wililam Rainey, son of Mr. and Mrs.T.O.Rainey of West La Palma avenue, Anaheim, at a beautifully simple ceremony held at the First Christian church of Fullerton.
Ferns, palms and baskets on shell pink chrysanthemums made a lovely setting for the service read by Rev.Frank L.Purnell in the presence of 75 guests.Soft candelight set off the bride's costume of a smart blue wool frock and black accessories.She wore a corsage of gardenias at her shoulder.
Miss Cleta Banks of Fullerton was maid of honor and was attired in a two-tone dress with brown accessories.Talisman roses comprised her corsage.Walter Lewis of Temple City was best man and ushers were Darrel McGavran and Thomas Covey of Fullerton.
Mrs.Charles Peckham accompanied Mrs.Austin Salisbery of Ontario who song“I Love Thee,”and“Because.”Mrs.McGavran mother of the bride, was smartly gowned in a gold rayon frock with matching accessories.Shore a gardenia and coral bouquetia corsage.Mrs.Rainey,the bridegroom's mother,was attired in a two-toned velvet and wood costume with a similar corsage.
During the reception at the Rainey home,Mrs.Harold Covey,Mrs.Melvin Salveson,Mrs
Ray Hamilton, Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs. Fackiner was table hostesses.

Iowa's table was complete with a miniature farm, and candy corn was sprinkled about. Mary Jane Alden gave a reading and Mrs. F. R. Alden and Mrs. Paul Davidson were hostesses. Ohio and Indiana's table was attractive with a snow scene. Mrs. Earl Woodward and Mrs. Floyd West were hostesses.
The southern states' table hostesses were Mrs. Melvin Hilgenfeld and Mrs. Albert Stokes, and a Christmas scene in the south was the theme of the table appointments. Illinois was represented by a tiny cow and a lantern, signifying the "O'Leary's cow" tale. Skyscrapers and city scenes represented the great city of Chicago. An enjoyable skit written by Miss Ethel Campbell was given by Mrs. A. C. Riutcel and Miss Laura Gene Frantz, hostesses.
Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin's table was hostessed by Mrs. E. L. Hein and Mrs. Gene Frantz. A tiny scene of an Indian paddling in a lake was cleverly carried out. Betty Fackiner, in Indian costume, gave the reading "By the Waters of Minnetonka." Mrs. Frantz gave a short talk on the states' various industries.
California's table seated the largest number of guests. A mission scene centered the table, including tiny figures of padres, peons and gayly-dressed senoritas. Miss Ethel Campbell sang "La Estrallita." Mrs. Lyman Harpster and Mrs. Herman Lenz were hostesses.
At the Canada and foreign countries table, the maple leaf theme was carried out in decorations. A Dionne skit was enacted with Mrs. George Barfoot as the nurse, Rev. Burden as the dcetor and Charlotte Gauer as the off-stage sound technician. Earl Woodward acted as Mr. Dionne. Hostesses were Mrs. M. A. Gauer and Mrs. George Barfoot.

Past Noble Grands Sponsor Card Party
The Past Noble Grand association of the Lois Rebekah lodge held its card-party Friday evening at the I. O. O. F. hall, at which 100 guests were present.
Mrs. V. Veckel of Brea was the winner of the cedar chest. The beautiful hand-made quilt went to Mrs. Claude Moore, and other prizes went to Mrs. Nina Law, Mrs. Flossie Eaton, Miss Dorthea Blott, Mrs. Dixie Wilbur and Clayton Allen, all of Anaheim, and Izaac Malfield and Barbara Cannon of Placentia, and Mrs. Naomi Andersen of Los Angeles.
Tables of 500, bridge and pinochle were in play. For bridge, winners were Mrs. A. Cox, Mrs. J. O'Neil, B. L. Chandler, and A. Cox. Winners of 500 were Mrs. Catherine O'Brien, Mrs John Burton, H. H. Armbrust and John Burton. Pinochle prizes went to Mrs. D. Burry, Mrs. Etta Tuma, C. E. Robinson and Charles Schaffer.
C.E.Robinson won the door-prize. On the general committee for the affair were Mrs.Berthyle Reisinger, Mrs.Mabel Spencer, Miss Hannah Horwitz, Mrs.Mildred Allen, Mrs.Ora Horn, Mrs.Nina Law, Miss Barbara Myers and Miss Dorthea Blott. Refreshments were served at the conclusion of play.
Donald Spencers Parents of Daughter
Mr. and Mrs.Donald Spencer of Santa Ana are rejoicing in the birth of their first daughter, little Janet Ann, born last Friday, November 29, at the Fullerton Cottage hospital.
The child's paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.Earl Spencer of 202 East Adele street in Anaheim, and the maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.Fred Johnson of Yorba Linda. Mrs.Spencer is the former Anna Johnson of that city.
During the reception at the Rainey home, Mrs.Harold Covey, Mrs.Melvin Salveson, Mrs.Bessie Clanton, Mrs.Ethel Lewis and Miss Marie Place assisted in serving the refreshments and three-tiered wedding cake. The rooms were attractive with flower arrangements in pastel shades.The wedding supper was served from a long table exquisitely appointed in white, delphinium blue and rose.Silver roses and cane delabra centered the table.F.T.Cheberlen, of Fullerton, gave the toast to the newlyweds.
The new Mr. and Mrs.Raine are honeymooning at an undisclosed destination, after which they will reside in their own new home at 146 South Cornell avenue.Fullerton.
The bride and groom are both graduates of the Fullerton high school and junior college.Before her marriage the bride was denta assistant to Dr.Howe of Fullerton and the bridegroom is radio technician for the Lash-Stewart General Electric company,Santa Anita.
Anaheim Sextet Enjoy Hunting Trip
Mr. and Mrs.Lare Lund,M and Mrs.Carl Van Atta and M and Mrs.George Hatfield spent very enjoyable Sunday hunting at Perris valley,near Hemet.
The group captured their quotefoil and enjoyed a picn later in the afternoon.

Dental Auxiliary Holds Yule Party
The annual Christmas party of the Orange County Dental association was held yesterday and last night at the Hacienda County club, with Dr. H. H. Neville as program chairman.
Golf was the recreation of the afternoon, and a lovely dinner was held in the evening. A large Christmas tree in the middle of the room added a festive touch to the prettily appointed room. Dr. Charles Rapp of Fullerton distributed small cellophane and tinsel-wrapped favors to the ladies that when opened disclosed small bottles of cologne.
Dr. Niels Boege showed dental health pictures as the evening's entertainment. During the business meeting., Dr. Boege's place as secretary-treasurer was given to Dr. C. T. Tompkins.
Attending from Anaheim were Dr. and Mrs. C. T. Tompkins, Dr. and Mrs. Charles Schutz, Dr. and Mrs. H. H. Neville, Dr. and Mrs. Neils Boege, Dr. and Mrs. John Boege and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bernhard.
George Walters Feted on Birthday
George Walters was honored Thursday evening with a surprise birthday party held at his home, 301 South Illinois street.
Mrs. Walters hostessed a six-course dinner and presented her husband with a beautiful birthday cake. Pinochle was the diversion of the evening, with prizes going to Mrs. Ada Soyland and Godfrey Poetz.
Honoring Mr. Walters were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Whippo, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Soyland of Orange, Mr. and Mrs. Gcdfrey Poetz, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Sorenson and Mrs. Walters.
Former Residents Visit Mrs. Helmsen
Mrs. Fanny Lyon and Miss Margaret Higgins of Hollywood spent Thursday and Friday with Mrs. Joseph Helmsen. They celebrated Thanksgiving together on the time-honored date with a turkey dinner and all the "fixin's."
Mrs. Lyon and Miss Higgins are real "old timers" of Anaheim. Their mother was a well known physician of Anaheim and the first woman to practice medicine in this county. She died in Anaheim just 50 years ago.

Walter Graves, 309 West Center street, returned home Monday from the Fullerton General hospital where he had been under observation for pneumonia. Graves passed the danger point and is now able to receive friends.

Mrs. Grant Rude is resting comfortably at her home, 835 South Claudina street, after an appendectomy preformed at the St. Joseph hospital in Santa Ana.

Mrs. J. W. Curran of 754 Paulina is among the influenza patients. Her mother, Mrs. Mae Sowers, is recovering from a recent attack of the disease.
Mrs. Horn at Desert
Mrs. Harry Horn has left for Palm Springs where she will remain for the next week. With her went her daughter, Barbara, who is taking the trip as a health measure, having recently suffered a severe case of bronchitis.

Ed Howell left for Catalina Sunday afternoon where he will be employed by the Standard Oil company. Mrs. Howell will continue working for the S. Q. R. store until after the Christmas holidays, when she will join her husband. Their recently-purchased home at 452 South Ohio street will be disposed of.
Catherine Schroeder Reveals Bethrothal To Joe Lemons
Miss Catherine Schroeder clearly announced her betrothal wedding date to members of sewing circles of which she is member Friday evening at home on Lincoln avenue.
She will wed Joe Lemons Santa Ana, January 9. The new was announced by means of patriotic-colored boxes holding question and a dart. When the looms overhead were puncture they revealed the date and the that the wedding would take place at the Zion Lutheran church.

Mrs. Vincent Bruce of 833 South Lemon street is confined to bed with an attack of influenza.
Mrs. Goff Returns
Mrs. Clara Goff of 208 North Palm tree left November 15 for northern California to visit her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert LaFranchi of Berkeley. She also was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Goff of that city. During her stay, she witnessed the California-Oregon game and the California-Stanford game. She returned home last Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mauerhan of Katella road have returned from an extensive eastern tour during which they made purchase of a new car.

YLI PLANS FUTURE EVENTS
Miss Agnes Callens presided over the regular meeting of the YLI Monday evening at the Odd Fellows' hall.
During the business session plans were made for the Christmas party to be held at the hall December 16. Arrangements were made for the tour of the NBC studios December 9, and members were urged to make reservations with Elvira Hein.
Mrs. E. Perry, superintendent of the art division of Orange county schools, was the guest speaker. She demonstrated Christmas gift wrapping and home decorations.
Refreshments were served at the conclusion of the meeting. The table was spread with a lovely lace cloth and centered with a low bowl of flaming hybiscus. Mrs. Robert Rimpau was committee chairman, and assisting her were Mrs. Christina Pohlman, Mrs. Irene Wirt and Mrs. Victor Peltzer.
Miss Virginia Sims Reveals Marriage
Miss Virginia Sims' marriage to Joe Adair Burk of Whittier was announced recently to friends. The wedding date was October 12, and they were married at Whittier.
A new home has been established in Whittier. Mr. Burk is employed at the Wilshire Oil company in Norwalk, while his bride is organist at the White Temple Methodist church in Anaheim. Mrs. Burk is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Sims, of South Claudina street.
Ebell Club Holds Annual Christmas Party Monday Night
Anaheim Ebell club members were hostesses Monday evening to the annual Christmas party held at the clubhouse, with 200 guests present at the cheerful and entertaining program.
Christmas colbs were prominent in the decorations arranged by Mrs. Robert Grogg and Mrs. William Hall as chairmen and Mrs. Maude Adams, Mrs. George Gredler and Mrs. Alexander Grant as decoration leaders. Real holly, pine cones and tiny individual candles centered the small tables at which a delicious banquet was served.
In the receiving line were Mrs. D. Jerry Youngs, Miss E. Kate Rea, Mrs. Fred Weisel and Mrs. H. B. Pearson. During the dinner hour, several delightful selections were sung by the Anaheim union high school alumni sextet who included the Misses Betty Wingfield, Virginia Ward, Ruth Armentrout, Kay Van Buren, Jessie Thatcher, Betty Schneider and Lois Roquet as accompanist.
Mrs. C. A. Neighbors gave the club greeting to guests and Leo J. Friis responded in behalf of the guests. Mrs. Juanita Ross, acting as Santa Claus, distributed gifts to Albert Raymond, Dr. Howard Tews, Dr. J. P. Brastad, Mrs. A. P. M. Brown and Mrs. E. E. Smith who were the "good children" and who described their good deeds.
