Hold-up Man Robs M. Hollingsworth
Accosted by a masked and armed bandit as he was walking along the 500 block on South Los Angeles street shortly after midnight Friday morning. Marvin Hollingsworth of 240 East Center street was held up and robbed of $30 in currency, he reported to Anaheim police a few minutes after the robbery.
Hollingsworth told officers the man stepped from behind a palm tree, thrust the gun at him and commanded him to turn around. The bandit then removed the wallet from the victim's hip pocket and ordered him to "start running."
Frank C. Latham of Santa Ana was elected president of the Orange County Farm Bureau last Thursday, succeeding Ralph W. Hull.

Who said they hate to dress up? Keep it comfortable and keep it masculine and you'll have no trouble getting him into that Sunday suit. The young man with the lollypop wears a brand new but comfortable rough finish blue miniature hat with blue accordion pleated band—an exact duplicate incidentally, of his dad's sport hat. The two button lower-school suit is also brand new and is made of bright navy corduroy. The jacket collar is finished plain so that the wide shirt collar will lie flat all around.

Know Your Orange County
Following is another of the special articles being prepared for publication in Orange county on communities which are members of the Associated Chamber of commerce. Another will follow soon.
Olive is situated near the south bank of the Santa Ana river at the foot of the Santa Ana mountains. It is nestled atop the rolling hills, and is familiarly known as the "Gateway City" of Orange county; because from this point, the lower Santa Ana valley spreads out fan shaped to the sea. It is due to the location of this community that it played such an important part in the early history of Orange county.
This community has the distinction of being a part of the Rancho de Santa Ana, the only Spanish land grant in Orange county made to Don Antonio Yorba. Here Theodosia Yorba, a son, built one of the first white man's dwellings in the county; where he welcomed weary travelers on their way from San Diego to Los Angeles. General Portola with his band of soldiers passed through here, as did the padres during the mission days. Later Theodosia Yorba's son-in-law, Burriell, built his home on the bluff overlooking Olive where he planted olive and other trees which are still there; and the locality was known as Burriell's Point until 1880 when it was named Olive.
The community spirit of Olive has been developed over a period of years and has resulted in the Olive Improvement association,a member of the Associated Chambers of commerce. General welfare of the community is the objective while it also serves as a medium through which the people meet and have community dinners, picnics and other gatherings.
Citrus fruit is the chief agricultural crop; most of which is marketed through the two local modern packing houses; the Olive Heights. Citrus association and Olive Hillside Groves. The Mission Clay Products company is also located here under the supervision of H. A. Shugart.
Shipping facilities are taken care of by the Santa Fe railway; supplemented of course by truck lines; as desired by the public.
All modern conveniences are available; and the surrounding hills offer the "Home-builders Paradise" for sites of beauty.
The recently completed $75,000 school gymnasium-auditorium; with basement dining rooms and kitchens; reception rooms; etc., which is used as a "Civic Center" for community gatherings; is the most recent acquisition of community interest. The grounds and surroundings are now being landscaped; and tennis courts and picnic grounds with barbeque pit; being installed. The site of the entire project was the gift to the school district; of the Bixby company; which concern is preparing to open for sub-division; the exceptionally lovely district reaching from the Santa Ana Canyon road to the recently extended Tustin avenue.
Olive has its grammar school on its hillside setting overlooking the Santa Ana Valley. Also the St. Paul's Parochial school and Lutheran church are integral parts of the community. The cooperation of all factions for the general

Valencia Season Ends This Week
Navel Shipments Will Start From Central Counties on November 17
The California valencia shipping season will be finished by the end of the week making way for navel orange shipments from central California and Arizona, starting November 17.
Last week's valencia averages as reported by the California Fruit Growers Exchange sales department show a 13 cent increase over the previous week. In the auctions California valencias averaged $1.13 above Florida offerings.
"Compared to the same week last year our valencia sales were 60 per cent greater in volume and the price average 55 cents higher," states L. H. Wohlwend, Exchange orange sales manager.
The navel orange crop in central California is estimated at 10,750 cars, slightly greater than last year. There will be a good run of sizes, most shippers reporting medium to large fruit predominating. Arizona navels are reported to be running heavily to large sizes.
The quality of the Tulare county navels is expected to be extra good, according to the Sunkist field department. Some of the field inspectors report that the crop will average as good if not better in quality than in previous seasons.
In commending the central California shippers for their action in with holding shipments until November 17, Wohlwend stated, "Last week's wide margin between California and Florida or..."
Association Helps Crippled Children
Forty-seven cases were brought to the attention of the Crippled Children's Relief association of Orange county during the past year, according to the annual report of Miss E. Kate Rea, secretary. Some of the cases were new, others were of long standing.
For these handicapped persons, the association furnished hospitalization, transportation, operations, nutrition, medicine, clothing, braces, artificial limbs, glasses, hearing aid, dentistry, a wheeled chair, crutches, corrective shoes, arch supports, exercises, examinations and X-ray, Miss Rea said.
The quality of the Tulare county navels is expected to be extra good, according to the Sunkist field department. Some of the field inspectors report that the crop will average as good if not better in quality than in previous seasons.
In commending the central California shippers for their action in with holding shipments until November 17, Wohlwend stated, "Last week's wide margin between California and Florida oranges was mainly due to the difference in eating quality. The navel shippers realized that to follow our high grade valencias with immature navels would result in an unfavorable consumer re-action and a loss in confidence toward future shipments."
Lemon prices remained unchanged but the volume of sales showed an increase of fourteen cars over the previous week. Demand was stimulated in several districts by the prevalence of colds following sharp weather fluctuations.
Peter Abbott Hurt As Auto Hits Train
Anaheim police do not yet have a complete report on the accident shortly before 11 o'clock last Monday evening when a Southern Pacific freight train was struck by an automobile supposedly driven by Peter Abbott of 325 South Clementine street, at the Los Angeles street crossing.
