sion of German rule.
Fantastic as this may seem, we must remember the rise of the Nazi party from a Munich beer cellar to the palaces of the Wilhelmstrasse has been due, to a great extent, to such semi-mystic organizations. The extension of methods, already proved so successful at home, into the foreign fields of conquest is logical and of a piece with the other materials of Nazi triumph. In their minds the world is divided into just two parts: the German Gau, or Germany at home, and the foreign Gau, or Germany abroad. It is in the foreign Gau that the nations of Latin America will be included if Nazi plans succeed.
RECALL TO EMPIRE?—Recent news from London tells of the renewed recognition of Haile Selassie as emperor of Ethiopia. This move by the British government, a move obviously designed to make Italy's position in conquered Ethiopia even more precarious than it already is, was followed by what means to be developing into a major Italian drive southward from Ethiopia into the British colony of Kenya. The capture of Moyale, a small outpost town, was hailed as a great Fascist victory, and in Rome much was made of the triumph which, by itself meant little or nothing. Despite extravagant Italian claims, it seems difficult to believe that overwhelming importance could be attached to the occupation of a small, sunscorched, desert outpost miles from anywhere. But then the Italians have had so little about which to be enthusiastic that perhaps their excitement is easily understood.
The real significance of the Intoxicating?

Eastern Star to Sponsor Picnic
Second Annual Event To Be Held Sunday, Aug. 4 at Irvine Park
The second annual basket picnic of the Order of the Eastern Star will be held Sunday, August 4, at Irivine park. The event is sponsored by Orange County Patrons, Associate Patrons and Junior Past Patrons association.
Several thousand members and families of O. E. S., including all Masonic bodies are invited to participate in the O. E. S. picnic. In addition to members of the Order of the Eastern Star, a general invitation has been sent to all Bluc Lodges of Orange county and their affiliated bodies including the Jobs Daughters, and DeMolays.
Grand Worthy Matron Helen Louise Edwards will be there to deliver the address of welcome Worthy Grand Patron Ernest E Williams of San Francisco, is expected to be present, with scores of other high-ranking officials on the order.
Dr. James Workman, junior past patron of Hermosa chapter, Santa Ana, was appointed general picnic chairman, and has named other competent committee chairmen and committeemen which have made elaborate plans for entertaining the large anticipate crowd.
Listed among the entertainers will be radio stars who will render vocal numbers, the Blue Note Accordian Band, Vera Getty's dancing troupe, professional Japanese jujitsu wrestlers, soft ball contests with all sorts of competitive racing, and pole climbing. Interspersed with a few but important snappy speeches.

and in Rome much was made of the triumph which, by itself meant little or nothing. Despite extravagant Italian claims, it seems difficult to believe that overwhelming importance could be attached to the occupation of a small, sun-scorched, desert outpost miles from anywhere. But then the Italians have had so little about which to be enthusiastic that perhaps their excitement is easily understood.
The real significance of the Italian advance southward, however, may well be that the natives of Ethiopia, never tranquil under the rule of their conquerors, have been encouraged in their resistance by the thought that British help may soon be reaching them. Despite every Italian effort at secrecy, news has constantly leaked out of revolts and uprisings against the invaders in what was once the domain of the Lion of Judah. With Britain once more unholding Selassie's claim to his throne, it is highly probable that a wide spread rebellion may break out against Italian rule. If it does, then the rebels will, if they can organize, be aided by British planes and equipment. No longer will they be fighting alone with bows and arrows against machine guns.
Italy has for the present not the slightest hope of reinforcing her armies in Ethiopia and Italian Somaliland, and therefore the situation of these Fascist garri-
sons may speedily become desperate, especially if a general Ethiopian revolt is synchronized with a northward push in force by British troops. Therefore Italy must now strive desperately to cut communications between British Kenya and the rebellious natives to prevent the organization of the revolt, the arming of the rebels. But even this move may not be sufficient, since aid to oppressed Ethiopians may also be moved over another frontier, that of the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan.
We have no way of knowing yet how large or how determined may be the movement to throw off Mussolini's shackles, but if it is as great as has been reported, if it is so determined that the almost hopeless struggle was carried on without cessation after Ethiopia had been abandoned to her conquerer by the rest of the world, then the position of Italy in East Africa is grave in the extreme and wholesale disaster may yet be the lot of Mussolini's venture into empire building.

Packinghouse Employes Get Orange Juice
If beverages are desired by citrus packinghouse employees certainly they should have fresh orange juice available. This is the idea of Walter Schmid, manager of the Garden Grove Mutual Orange association, Mutual Orange Distributors affiliate in Garden Grove.
Following cut this thought Schmid has placed a glass dispenser in the packing room and on a table near it are a small box and a holder for paper cups. The dispenser is kept filled with fresh orange juice and in the center is a special core of glass to hold the cracked ice which keeps the juice cold. Thus, any employes or any visitors who wish the refreshment of fresh, cold orange juice may have it and, the little box beside the cup dispenser is to receive the payment.
L. H. Burr, office manager of the association, is superintendent of the "soft drink department." The dispenser is filled as needed and five or six cents worth of cracked ice lasts throughout a work day. The plan is working out well, according to Schmid.

Canvas to Shade Ball Park Stands
Anaheim baseball fans who have stayed away from Sunday games at La Palma park because they didn't like to sit in the hot sun will find that problem solved next Sunday. Park officials are stretching a large canvas over the center grandstand to provide a wide area of shade.
Meanwhile, Manager Joe Huarte's Athletics continued their winning ways by edging out the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks last Sunday by a 10 to 9 count. A five-run outburst in the sixth round knotted the count for the Anaheim club and another two-run rally in the seventh provided the winning margin.
Jim Glimpse was not much of a puzzle to the Trainmen and had to call on Manager Huarte for relief. Huarte had what it took to stop the assault and his mates eventually picked up enough runs to win.
Ray Amling, University of California star, shared the spotlight with Huarte with his powerful hitting. He whacked two balls over the distant left field fence, rammed another against the wall good enough for three bases, and topped off the day with a single. He went hitless in one trip.
