ADULTS 15¢ Any Seat—Any Time ARTESIA GOLDEN JUBILEE DAIRY FESTIVAL SLATED ON JUNE 21-22 Anaheim Officer Assist in Arrow Long Beach Bandit Captain In Orange Grove After Exchange of Shots A series of chases from downtown Long Beach to an orchid grove in Orange county on Tuesday afternoon when a five bandit suspect, gun jammer surrendered to peace officers in Placentia avenue and 101 way. Defiant to the last prisoner, John R. Anderson alias William Hansen, is quiet by police as refusing to robberies attributed to him expressing regret that he failed an attempt to kill Detective Hall of Long Beach. Two-way radio communication is credited with being the deciding factor in Anderson's arrest. Less than two minutes after had been trapped at the edge the orange grove, more than police officers from Anaheim Fullerton, Orange, Santa Ana sheriff's office and California way patrol were on the scene closing in on the fugitive. The chase started in Beach when Hall and a fighter attempted to arrest Anderson and Granite W. Harrison, while they were riding an assertedly stolen automobile. Shots were exchanged before suspects jumped from the car ran in different directions. Rington was captured, but Anderson made his escape by stealing second car and heading for Orange County. ARTESIA GOLDEN JUBILEE DAIRY FESTIVAL SLATED ON JUNE 21-22 World champion cowboys, battling wild bucking horses and Brahma steers for the 1940 crown, will feature the rodeo shows of the Artesia Golden Jubilee Dairy Festival June 21-22. Four former all around champions of the Rodeo Association of America circuit are already entered, according to Paul F. Hill, rodeo manager. The accident occurred on 101 highway between Palisades and San Clemente. 'Top Cows' from southern California herds aggregating more than 200,000 animals will be shown in this special event which may set a new daily world's record for milk production. Excelsior union high school, Norwalk, will have change of the separate list of events for members of the Future Farmers as part of the festival. THREE SAN DIEGO PEOPLE ARE KILLED Three San Diego residents were instantly killed early Tuesday morning when the automobile in which they were riding crashed into the Aliso creek bridge on 101 highway near El Toro, according to reports of the California highway patrol. There were no witnesses to the accident. The dead are Edward V. Brassington, 30, believed to be the driver of the car; Mrs. Herman McCandless, 28, believed to be an advertising firm executive; and Frank C. Dean, Jr., 23. Officers expressed the belief that the car was travelling south at the time of the accident, set at approximately 2:30 o'clock.
