Anaheim, Calif., May 23, 1940 SOCIETY St. Boniface Music Pupils in Recital The recital by the music pupils of St. Boniface school was presented at St. Boniface hall last Monday evening, under the direction of Sister Mary Bertha, O. P., music teacher. Students, in addition to the orchestra, who took part were Wanda Simeon, Betty Joe Simons, Mary Volz, Dorothy South, Marilyn Schmitt, Charlotte Orman, Mary Jean Eickholt, Patricia Crowley, Imogene Larson, Virginia Heinz, Dolores Pelitzer, Cecilia Heinz, Patty Ann Kirch, Rose Marie Meric, Joan DeWitt, Rita Beck, Betty Jane Robert, Nelda Schumacher, Elaine Schumacher, Evelyn Bevins, Patricia Orman, Thomas Willis, Rose Dominguez, Laura Karcher, and Gertrude Liekhus. These same students, plus Albert Steichen, Eugene Bevins and Larry Braddock comprised the orchestra. Club Members Attend Functions Anaheim Business and Professional Women's club was represented at two functions late last week. On Thursday evening Mrs. Mabelle Hathaway, club president, Miss Ruth Starr, Mrs. Vincenta Carleton, Mrs. Eva Boyd, Miss NEWSY NOTES Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Workman of 313 South Lemon street are the parents of a son, born May 18, at Orange county hospital. A son was born May 20 at St. Joseph hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Wilson of 403 South Claudina street. Dr. and Mrs. Llewellyn E. Wilson and family are now at home in their new residence at 558 South Illinois street. They formerly resided at 723 South Helena street. Mrs. J. H. Haines is the new president of the Dorcas society of Wesley Methodist church, having been elected last Thursday to succeed Mrs. R. E. Jeffress, who has moved to Whittier. Mrs. L. E. Wilson and Mrs. John Larson were elected president and secretary, respectively; of the Orange County Medical society auxiliary last week. Others attending the meeting from Anaheim were Mrs. Arthur Elliott, and Mrs. E. H. Kersten. New officers elected last Thursday by Circle Three, White Temple Methodist church, include Mrs. William Gunnell, president; Mrs. E. A. Becker, secretary; Mrs. H. H. Heckman, treasurer, and Wedding Plans Told During Tea Engagement of Miss Louise Humphreys of Buena Vista to Leo Cornelious Maley of Anaheim was announced Sunday afternoon during an informal at the Buena Park Women's club house. The wedding is to place on September 11. Humphreys is the daughter of Mrs. John Humphreys of Buena Park and Mr. Maley is the son of Mrs. Cornelious Maley of Anaheim. Some 80 friends and relatives called during the afternoon receive the news. Those from Anaheim were the Mesdames Maley, K. Maley, Fred Law, J. Olson, Joe Klapper, T. Engagement of Miss Maxine Vetter to Wayne Carlson was announced last Thursday night. The marriage will take place in August 11. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. W. J. Vetter, and Mr. Carlson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Carlson of Orange. Carolyn Fiscus, 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niles Fiscus underwent an appendectomy at St. Joseph hospital recently. Mrs. Emma Polhemus of South Gate, former resident of Anaheim and mother of H. D. Polhemus of Placentia road, is convalescing from a fractured hip suffered about two weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tausch and Dr. and Mrs. John Boege returned last week end from a two-weeks' trip to the south and east. Mr. and Mrs. Tausch are spending this week at Saboba HotSprings. Paul Davidson of Superior Radio service returned this morning from a visit of several weeks with his father in Des Moines, Iowa. Judge Westover to Speak Here Tonight Superior Judge Harry C. Westover will be the speaker at tonight's meeting of Anaheim Townsend club No. 1 at 224 East Center street. J. Burkhard formally announced the engagement. Mr. Dyckman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dyckman of Yorba Linda. Eldred and the former Nelle Jean Peacock were surprised last Friday to learn of their marriage, which took place on April 21 at Kingman, Arizona. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. J. B. Criswell of Anaheim. Both Mr. and Mrs. Eldred are both well known in Anaheim. Mr. Eldred operated a service station for some time, until he recently became affiliated with L. C. A total investment of $100,000 is being planned, it was said: The drive-in theater will have a capacity of 820 automobiles, with patented devices permitting the proper elevation of each machine.
