Present official mark is 14-11, held jointly by Bill Sefton and Earl Meadows of U.S.C. Kuchel Speaks at Meeting of Group Young Republicans of County Hear Assemblyman at Dinner Session "The new philosophy" that is threatening to engulf California and America was caustically indicted by Assemblyman Thomas H. Kuchel in his address at a dinner meeting of the Young Republicans of Orange county at Santa Ana Monday night. A third party is now in power in California, Kuchel charged. "It is neither Democrat nor Republican, but is practicing socialism and communism, with its OGPU tactics of invading personal privacy, of taking over private business, wasting and destroying the American birthright." The speaker paid tribute to the Democrats of the state legislature who revolted against the Olson program at the last session and joined Republicans in calling a halt. Never before the Olson administration had there been partisan government in California and there should be none now, Kuchel declared. "Where is the partisanship in the question of increasing taxes? Or in the question of relief?" he asked. He cited the rise of the relief burden from $26,000,000 in 1937 to the $95,000,000 request from Governor Olson this year, when the legislature finally rebelled. Of the total spent, 25 per cent has gone to overhead and 24 per cent to foreigners, leaving only 51 per cent for Americans, including those thousands of people from other states who have come here, Kuchel said.
