Hi-Point girls' Club Meets Here
The Hi-point girls' club of Dr. A. R., District No. 6, together with their sponsor Mrs. Wylie B. Moffett of Long Beach, and several reps of the district, met at the Bioteer House on north West street last Saturday afternoon. Mrs. June Malstrom of Anaheim, president of the group, presided.
For the name of their club the girls chose Barbara S. Whittaker since Mrs. Whittaker was the founder of the D.A.R. good citizenship pilgrimage movement. Mrs. Virginia Ward of Anaheim was elected corresponding secretary. A definite project was not decided upon as the girls felt they would like to investigate further in regard to their individual sections. Plans were tentatively made to send delegates to the conege to be held in Los Angeles on day 4.
The beautiful silk flag, on an appropriate stand, was presented to a group by Mrs. Estella B. Clark, regent of Los Cerritos chapel of Long Beach.
Mrs. Easton present. Mrs. Eckert is the good citizenship pilgrimage chairman of Mother Colony chapter for many years, until she moved to Claremont. Knowing the Anaheim girls so well, and having participated in the club work at Claremont, Mrs. Easton was able to offer excellent advice and suggestions, as well as to impart enthusiasm in the new undertaking.

Party Compliments The H. A. Harkers
Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Harker were complimented Sunday on occasion of their silver wedding anniversary when their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Harker, invited approximately 25 guests from Fullerton, Santa Ana, Placentia, Garden Grove, San Bernardino and Anaheim to their home on South Los Angeles street.
The evening was spent playing the game of fifty, with first prize being awarded to Mr. Harker and second prize to Stanley Wheeler. The honored guests were then presented with an electric mantel clock.
Mrs. Charles Harker was assisted in hostess duties by her mother, Mrs Albert Loptien of San Bernardino.
Four-Fours Meet At Zeppenfeld Home
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zeppenfeld were hosts to members of the Four-Fours club at their home on East Cypress street last Thursday evening. Cards were played following a dinner, with prizes being awarded to W. W. Dolan and Mrs. Fred A. Backs.
Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Yungbluth, Mrs. W. W. Dolan, Fred A. Backs, Miss Winifred Melrose, Mrs. Martha Wallop and Mr and Mrs. Ralph McFadden.
Journalism Society Sponsors Dance
"Colonial Women" Described by Speakers
A very pleasant afternoon was spent at the Pioneer House on North West street Friday by members and friends of Mother Colony chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
During the social hour Mrs. Bertha McCracken of Santa Ana who was dressed in quaint colonial fashion, gave the group a choice of two subjects. The talk on "Colonial Women" was chosen Mrs. McCracken then cleverly and most entertainingly traced the lives of three outstanding Coloniai girls, beginning with the day spent in Holland, then on the Mayflower, and lastly in the new home. The girls were Pricilla Mullins, later Mrs. John Alden Mary Chilton, later Mrs. John Winslow, and Elizabeth Tilly. The early home life of the coloniai women was most beautifully described.
Following Mrs. McGracken's talk the D.A.R. good citizenship pilgrimage pin was presented to Miss Virginia Ward, this year Hi-point girl.
Previous to the social hour the chapter elected as a nomination committee Mrs. Ernst Borchardt Mrs. David Toms and Mrs. Le Sheridan. Through the generosity of Mrs. R. Jansen the pictures of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Boege and Mr Luedke, mother of Mrs. Boege, an original pioneers of Anaheim were added to the exhibit. The chapter was delighted to have Mrs. Honor Easton, a member who is now living at Claremont, present.
The house was tastily decorated with iris and sweet peas. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. J. B. Hasty and Mrs. Charles Pearson.

were delighted to have Mrs. Easton present. Mrs. Elenora A. Parker gave a short talk on the early history of Anaheim, explaining why the chapter house is known as the Hoover House. Great interest in the exhibits was shown by the girls.
Among the out of town guests were Mrs. Helen H. Moffett and Misses Phyllis Corbin and Michael Galeen Long Beach, Miss Debbie Minnif of Santa Ana, Miss Ratliff and Mrs. Willis of Fullerton, Miss Alice Barbourne of Costa Mesa, Miss Mary Kott of Wilmington and Mrs. Easton of Claremont. The meeting will be held at Washington. Refreshments were provided by Mother Colony chapter.

Journalism Society Sponsors Dance
Anaheim Elks clubhouse was the scene of the annual Press dance presented by Gamma Delta Upsilon, journalism society at Fullerton junior college, last Saturday evening. Special guests were members of the Philadelphia Athletics and Portland Beavers baseball teams.
One of the largest crowds of the college's winter social season danced to the music of Walt Howell and his orchestra. Students in charge of the dance were Berenice Hargrove of Anaheim, general chairman; Maryann Callan of Fullerton, refreshments; Suzanne Sidnam of Anaheim, decorations, and Bill Rose of Westminster, tickets.
Mrs. Ernst Borchert Entertains Club
Mrs. Ernst Borchert was host Tuesday afternoon at her home on Euclid avenue to members of her bridge club. Games were played following a luncheon at o'clock, with prizes being awarded Mrs. Charles H. Mann, Mrs. L. Vincent and Mrs. W. W. Dolan.
Members of the club preserve were Mrs. Fred A. Backs, Mrs. J. Clayes, Mrs. F. A. Yungbluth, Mrs. Dolan, Mrs. J. J. Schneider, Mrs Joseph Carroll, Mrs. Vincent and Mrs. Gerald Sandilands. Subsultures invited were Mrs. Marr Mrs. Florence Davis and Mr Grant Van Valin of La Habra.

Fred Johnson's are Feted on Anniversary
The silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson, long-time residents of Yorba Linda, was celebrated Sunday afternoon at an informal tea at the Johnson home. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Wilson Harwood of La Habra, Mrs. Donald Spencer of Santa Ana and Mrs. Joe W. Johnson of Fullerton. Mrs. Harwood and Mrs. Spencer are daughters of the honored couple, and Mrs. Joe Johnston is their daughter-in-law.
Tea was poured by Mrs. Arthur Trueblood of Whittier, sister of Mrs. Johnson, and Miss Gevena Johnson of Fullerton, sister of Mr. Johnson.
During the afternoon, Monroe Sharpless of Fullerton sang, "I Love You Truly" and "Because," both of which were sung at the wedding. He also sang a composition of his mother, Mrs. Harry Sharpless of Tustin.
Decorations followed the silver anniversary motif. On the tea table were white stocks, white sweet peas and white camelias in a silver bowl with crystal candelabra.

Mrs. George Holden
Mrs. George F. Holden was re-elected president of the Benjamin Franklin school Parent-Teacher association during its regular meeting at the school auditorium yesterday.
Other officers chosen are Mrs. A. D. Smith, first vice president; Mrs. J. F. Jenkins, secretary; Mrs. T. W. Stuard, treasurer; Mrs. W. E. Whiteman, auditor, and Mrs. Glen Merrill, historian. The officers will be installed on April 10, during the next regular meeting of the organization.

Kathleen Sheridan
To Wed Santa Anan
Miss Kathleen Sheridan, whose marriage to John W. McFarland of Santa Ana will be an event of tomorrow evening, will be hostess to the wedding party at a dinner this evening at Daniger's cafe in Santa Ana. Final rehearsal for the wedding will follow the dinner.
Miss Sheridan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo J. Sheridan and is one of the most popular of the young people of Anaheim. Mr. McFarland is the son of Rev. and Mrs. O. Scott McFarland of Santa Ana.
The marriage ceremony will take place in the First Presbyterian church at Santa Ana, with Rev. McFarland officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry I. Horn and daughter, Barbara Ann, spent the past week end at Twenty-Nine Palms. They left Anaheim last Thursday and returned on Sunday.

Entertain Relatives
House guests Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gledhill of North Emily street were several relatives of Mrs. Gledhill from Los Angeles. Feature of the day was a dinner in the evening.
The guests were Mr. and Mrs. William Charles Toll and their two-months old son, William Charles, jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gerritsen and their daughter, Carrol Ann.

A son was born at St. Joseph hospital on Sunday, March 10, to Mr. and Mrs. Ned Wakeham, R. D. 1, Box 344-A, Anaheim.
Mrs. J. C. Kennedy of Los Angeles mother, of Mrs. C. A. Schmitt of Anaheim, leaves today for Kingston, Jamaica, where she will join her husband, Commander J. C. Kennedy of the Royal Navy. Mrs. Kennedy expects to remain in Jamaica for the duration of the war.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ryan, 527 S. Indiana street, are the parents of a daughter, born Saturday at Good Samaritan hospital in Los Angeles. The child has been named Carol Lee. She is the second child in the family, having an older sister, Barbara Ann.
WPA PROJECT OPEN
Visitors will be welcome to inspect the work being done in the WPA sewing project in Anaheim, it was announced early this week. The project is in operation daily, except Saturdays, from 9 o'clock until 3:30 o'clock, and is located at 265 E. Center street.
Two Anniversaries Feted at Dinner
Birthday anniversaries of two members of the family, Mrs. Marion Erwin and C. W. Hedges, were celebrated at a family dinner party last Friday evening at the C. W. Hedges home on West Center street.
In addition to the honored guests, those who shared in the event were Mrs. C. W. Hedges, Marion Erwin of La Habra, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Erwin of La Habra, Mr. and Mrs. Max Erwin of Fullerton, Mrs. Rose Chapman of Fullerton, Ernest Hedges of Ontario, and the children of the Robert Erwin and Marion Erwin families.
Beach Trailer Park Enlargement Asked
Improvement of 800 feet of beach frontage adjacent to the municipal trailer park at Huntington Beach has been advocated by the chamber of commerce of the beach city and is expected to be approved by the city council.
Last year the park netted a profit of $2,000, according to Councilman Lee Chamness, and it is believed that amount can be increased by development of the additional frontage.
