Eastern Star Installs Officers
Mrs. Mary Ella Coorfs was installed as worthy matron of Chispa chapter, Order of Eastern Star, at impressive rites last week Tuesday evening. Installing officer for the new leader of the lodge was her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Gregg, who previously had served as worthy matron of the chapter.

Three Hostesses Give Unique Party
An unusual party of interest was that given last Friday morning at the home of Mrs. Robert Harvey on North Clementine street, by Mrs. Harvey, Mrs. Raymond Todd and Mrs. Allison Polley.
Guests were invited for a 10 o'clock breakfast, after which bridge was played until early in the afternoon. Winners of prizes at the card games were Mrs. Glenn Eustis, Mrs. Carroll Cone and Mrs. Charles Greenwood.

Whittier College Students at Home
Home for the Christmas holidays are five residents of Anaheim who at present are attending Whittier college. Edward Bonkosky, who is taking graduate work, and Irene Zitzman, who is enrolled as a special student, and the Woodwards, Erlene Lee, and Tom dropped their campus activities for a two weeks vacation which will end January 2.
Erlene Woodward is social chairman of her freshman class, Lee is captain of the varsity basketball five, while Tom is active in the Squires organization, a service group on the campus.
Luther League Elects Officers
New officers of the Senior Luther League of Grace Lutheran church for the coming year were elected Friday evening when that organization held its annual Christmas banquet. Guests at the banquet were members of the winning team in a membership contest, while the losers put on the dinner.
Elected as president for next year was Arthur Michael, who will succeed Samuel Huzniker. Bill Schweiss, vice president; Frieda Schubert, secretary, and Bill Geiger, treasurer, were the other officers chosen.
Entertainment during the dinner was provided by Anita Romero who sang and played. Following the banquet, Miss Geneva Johnson, instructor of Spanish at Fullerton junior college, discussed Christmas customs of Mexico and displayed colored motion pictures of her summer's trip to-Mexico City.
Officers Seated by St. Agnes Guild
St. Agnes Guild of St. Michael Episcopal church combined an annual installation of officers and its Christmas party during its meeting Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Earle T. Jackson. Installed as officers were Mrs. Hug Schulz, directress; Mrs. Ronal Brandon, assistant directress; Mr Wilson Phelps, treasurer; Miss Hazel Tilson, secretary, and Mr Robert Rossberg, director. Two other directors, Mrs. J. R. Killdu and Mrs. Robert Easton, were unable to be present and Joan Jackson, daughter of the hostess, acted as proxy for them.
Mrs. Schulz then announced members of standing committee They include Miss Adah Loui Wilcox and Mrs. Ted Kuche membership; Mrs. Harry Horn and Mrs. Easten, ways and means Miss Marjorie Pibel and Mr Cortez Hoskins, courtesy; Mr D. Howard Dow, historian; Mr Douglas Phillips; parliamentarian; Miss Betty Crane, publicity; and Miss Mary Reasoner, devotions.
Four leading steel ingot producing states in 1937 were, in respective order, Pennsylvania, Ohio Indiana and Illinois.

Hiram Bowen Is Complimented
Mrs. Hiram Bowen was hostess at a family gathering Sunday in honor of the birthday anniversary of her husband and the 30th anniversary of his affiliation with the city administration. Mr. Bowen is now street superintendent.
Decorating her table in a Christmas motif, Mrs. Bowen served an elaborate turkey dinner. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Bowen, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Dugdale, Miss Martha Whisnant, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bowen, Miss Beverly Jean Bowen, John Stichtman and Mrs. M. J. Waller of Anaheim; Mr. and Mrs. R. J. New Singing Group Makes Debut
The Elizabethan Madrigal Singers, a newly organized singing group, made their first public appearance Saturday afternoon when they presented a program over the public address system being utilized by the Anaheim Merchants association to provide Christmas music in the business district.
Organizer and director of the group is Miss Betty Fackiner, who for two years was a member of the Lee Jones Madrigal Singers on the NBC network. Others in the organization are Mrs. Stratton Phillips, Mrs. Glenn Hipes, Mrs. Flcyd Stockwell, Mrs. Harry Fackiner, Mrs. Ralph Focht, Dr. C.O. Patterson, Stratton Phillips.

GIRL SCout Troop Enjoys Outing
A tour of the new union railroad depot, Chinatown and Olvera street in Los Angeles was enjoyed last Saturday by members of the Fremont Girl Scouts troop. Accompanying the girls were Mrs. Stanis Doerr, Mrs. Kenneth Paden, Mrs. E. E. Power and Miss Adah Louise Wilcox.
Members of the troop who made the trip were Harriett Bernard, Beverly Baker, Alice Bengochea, Barbara Cain, Marjorie Doerr, Marcella Eby, Kathryn Gauer, Mary Jean Hansen, Shirley Harling, Betty LeDuc, Marian Merrill, Louise and Patricia Paden, Janet Power, Barbara Wood, Lois Vipond, Betty Asper, Rose Marie Soto and Patty Shanks.
Christmas Party Planned by Club
A musical program and Christmas party will be held this evening following a short business session of the Anaheim Townsend club No. 1 at its headquarters, 224 E. Center street. Each member is asked to bring a small gift for exchange. Refreshments will be served at the close of the party.
New Palm Springs Approach is in Use
The new three and one-half mile section of highway connecting U.S. 99 with Palm Springs from the north has been opened to travel, reports the National Automobile club. This new section of road eliminates a number of sharp turns on the old highway and shortens the distance nearly one mile.
A new concrete bridge has been constructed over the Whitewater river and a 200-foot subway under being utilized by the Anaheim Merchants association to provide Christmas music in the business district.

Wrestling Show is Delayed to Friday
Promoter Harry Lewis o'Orange County Athletic club announced today that a change been made in the regular school of the weekly wrestling co-The show, which ordinarily would be presented Monday night, December 25, has been postponed until Friday night, December 6 to give way to the Christian observance.

Euneral services were conducted Tuesday from the Catholic church at Elsinore for Timothy Carroll, former resident of Anaheim, who died at Elsinore last Saturday.
Carroll was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Carroll. Anaheim old-timers, and was born in this city 54 years ago. He is survived by his widow; a brother, Joseph Carroll; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles Carroll; two nephews, Tim Wallace and Morris Carroll, and a niece, Miss Elizabeth Ann Carroll, all of Anaheim.
The elder Carroll was the first nurseryman in this area. His establishment was called the Evergreen Nursery.
There are sixty-two voluntary local tuberculosis association in California, all devoting their full time and energy to fighting tuberculosis. The annual Christmas Seal Sale is the sole means of supporting the programs of these associations.

Coyote Creek Job Contract Awarded
Spicer and Thompson, Los Angeles contracting firm, was awarded the contract for Coyote creek flood control work by the county supervisors late Tuesday. The bid was $28.830.
Work is expected to start on January 10 and to be finished by May 15. Included in the project are widening, deepening and straightening of the channel, and chill milk until icy cold. Mash 1½ cups strawberries with pastry blender or fork. Add sugar and salt. Let stand in refrigerator while preparing gelatin. Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Cool, then add strawberry mixture. Chill until mixture begins to thicken. Rub bottom and sides of 6 individual pie pans or a 9-inch fruit chiffon pies

Cool, then add strawberry mixture. Chill until mixture begins to thicken. Rub bottom and sides of 6 individual pie pans or a 9-inch pie pan with tasteless vegetable oil. Line bottom and sides with vanilla wafers. Whip chilled milk with rotary egg beater or electric beater until stiff. Fold into strawberry mixture. Continue chilling until almost firm. Divide among prepared pie pans. Chill until firm. Garnish with remaining ½ cup sliced strawberries. Remove from pans and serve.
Note: 2 cups canned sour, pitted cherries (drained) or 1 cup canned crushed pineapple (well-drained) may be substituted for the strawberries. Fruit juices may be substituted for part of the boiling water.
