LENA SCHACHNER
Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Schachner, 78, were conducted from the Hilgenfeld chapel Monday afternoon, with Rev. William Rogatzky, pastor of West Broadway Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in Anaheim cemetery.
Mrs. Schachner, a resident of Anaheim for 20 years, died early Friday evening at her home on Diamond street. She leaves one son, J. Fred Schachner of Anaheim; two daughters, Mrs. Ira E. Wells of Anaheim and Mrs. W. H. Schmitt of Beaumont; one brother, 12 grandchildren and eight garndchildren.
CHARLES J. NENNO
Funeral services for Charles J. Nenno, former resident of Anaheim who had lived in Montebello for the past seven years, were conducted Saturday morning in that city. Nenno died at Montebello last Thursday.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; one son, Clifford of Montebello, and four daughters, Mrs. Lucille Sidnam and Mrs. Naomi Oats, both of Los Angeles, Mrs. Dorothy Gullion of Colorado, and Miss Pauline Nenno of Montebello, and a brother, W. F. Nenno of Anaheim.
GESINE C. TEEBKEN
Funeral services for Mrs. Gesine C. Teebken, 89, were conducted Monday afternoon from the Backs, Terry & Campbell chapel, with Rev. H. G. Schmelzer, pastor of the Zion Lutheran church, officiating. Entombment was in Anaheim mausoleum.
Mrs. Teebken, a resident of Anaheim for 21 years, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marie Grussing on East South Street. She was a native of Germany. Mrs. Teebken is survived.
St. Catherine's is 50 Years Old
St. Catherine's Military school celebrated her Golden Jubilee last May — fifty years of teaching by the Dominican Sisters in Anaheim Throughout this half century the Sisters have maintained a school of high ideals, first a boarding school for boys and girls, then as an orphanage for boys and, since 1923, a military schoci.
Cadets are enrolled from many states and foreign countries, and are housed in one of the finest plants in the country.

Funeral services for John C. Wright, 82, was conducted yesterday afternoon from the Hilgenfeld funeral home with the Rev. D. Howard Dow officiating.
Wright a resident of Anaheim for the past four years, died Monday afternoon after a brief illness. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Laura McDowell of Anaheim.
Production of rayon and other synthetic textile fibres in France last year reached a total of 89,-132,000 pounds.
Air service was recently inaugurated between Moscow and Stockholm.

Furniture Store Starts New Sale
Anaheim Furniture Store, Inc., which recently moved into its new location at 301 W. Center street, is now engaged in a store adjustment sale to make room for new lines, it was announced today by C. B. Ralston, manager of the store.
Growth of the company in the past few years made larger quarters necessary and as a result the store moved to a bigger building than formerly occupied at 236 Center street. It handles a complete line of furniture and home appliances. Ralston has had long experience in both phases of business.
"We Sell for Less" is the name of Anaheim Furniture store where they follow in spite of selling an easy budget plan.
Record Made by State Sales Tax
Revenue totaling $89,400,725 from California's sales tax for fiscal year ending June 20, 1937, set a new high mark, according William G. Bonelli, fourth district member of the State Board of Equalization.
The best previous total was the fiscal year ending June 1937, with revenue of $88,381.91.
The record period included last two quarters of 1938 and first two of 1939. Revenue quarters was: third quarter, $20,997,269.41; fourth quarter, $25,061,681.84; first quarter, 1939, $20,440,842.93; second quarter, 1939, $22,900,935.07.

A group of YMCA members put on a skit which predicted what Anaheim would be like 25 years in the future, when the present YMCA boys were the business and professional leaders of the city.
Wilbert Bonnney, YMCA president, presided during the meeting.
Theo. Rimpau Owned Early Clothing Shop
Theo. Rimpau was another of the early-day merchants of Anaheim. He conducted a general clothing store for both men and women. It was located in an old adobe building that stood on West Center street on the site now occupied by the J. C. Penney company store.

A fellowship tea at 5:30 and a friendship circle at 6 o'clock will conclude the week's activities.
Pickering to Head State Contractors
Signal honor came to Orange county late last week with the election of George C. Pickering of Fullerton as state president of the Building Contractors of California. He succeeds H. Cedric Roberts of Los Angeles.
Those attending the association convention from Orange county in addition to Pickering were M. E. Beebe of Anaheim; O. T. Moore, Santa Ana; George A. Barrows, Santa Ana; and C. R. Young, Placentia.

La Jolla School to Dedicate Structure
Dedication exercises for the new outdoor stage of the La Jolla school will be held there tomorrow evening. It has been announced by Chester Whitten, school principal.
The program, arranged by Whitten, will include musical numbers, talks by various school officials and a conducted inspection of the new unit.
Built as an addition to the former shower and locker rooms, the new classroom when used for that purpose and an outdoor auditorium, the classroom forming the stage when opened.

Newport Will Vote on Pier Proposals
A $130,000 bond issue to cover the cost of constructing two ocean piers in Newport Beach will be submitted to the voters on December 5. The city council Monday night took steps calling the bond election, after a week of debate over the relative merits of the assessment district and general bond issue methods of financing the projects.
