Anaheim, Calif., July 27, 1989 SOCIETY Friends Compliment Mrs. J. Frank Cone A group of friends of Mrs. J. Frank Cone gathered Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Paul Williams to compliment the former with a shower. Mrs. Williams was assisted in arranging the affair by Mrs. Mona Wallace, Mrs. Don Thompson and Mrs. Orena Bever. Bridge was played during the evening with prizes awarded to Miss Ruth Rymer and Mrs. James Reinert. At the close of the games the honored guest was presented with numerous gifts. Other guests included Miss Grace White, Miss Evelyn Sweeney, Miss Jean Barry, Mrs. Phil Akerman, Mrs. Ray Schofield, Miss Esther Zeppenfeld and Mrs. Dean Carroll. Col. and Mrs. Bailey Visit in Anaheim Colonel and Mrs. Neill E. Bailey of Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, were in Anaheim yesterday on a brief visit and were guests of Mrs. Henry Kuchel. Col. Bailey retired from active duty in the army in December and is making a tour of army posts in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. He goes from here to San Francisco and Monterey. Col. Bailey was for a number of years co-ordinator of traffic for Claire Quarton and Donald Doepke Wed To the soft strains of traditional music played on the organ, Miss Claire L. Quarton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Quarton of 215 S. Melrose street, and Donald D. Doepke, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Doepke of 409 E. Adele street, exchanged marriage vows last Saturday evening at St. Boniface Catholic church. Rev. Father James Nevin was the officiating clergyman and dhe organ music was played by Mrs. Clara Faust. The bride, gowned in black velvet, bolero style, with white chiffon blouse and black and white accessories, and carrying a cerise orchid corsage, was given in marriage by her father. Her only attendant was Miss Florence Doetsch. Edgar Holmson served Mr. Doepke as best man. Following the ceremony, which was witnessed by about 50 relatives and close friends, the bridal couple departed for a honeymoon to an unannounced destination. Upon their return they will make their home at 218 N. Clementine street. Both Mr. and Mrs. Doepke attended elementary and high school in Anaheim, and the former also attended Fullerton junior college. He is now employed by the Anaheim Laundry. Don Fehlmans Entertain Club Visitor from Iowa Honored at Luncheon Entertaining in honor of Mr. McComb's cousin, Mrs. Neville Bowman of Davenport, Iowa, Mrs Russell R. McComb was hostess at a luncheon today. Mrs. Bowman leaves this evening for her home after having spent about two weeks in California. Guests at the luncheon included Mr. McComb's mother, Mrs. B.F., McComb of Pacific Palisades his brother, Carroll F. McComb of Rosemead, Mrs. Lucille Webster of Westwood and her two daughters, Mary Frances and Dorothy and the honored guest, Mrs Webster is a sister-in-law of Mrs Bowman. Beach Cottage is Setting for Event Dr. and Mrs. Neils Boege entered members of their dinner and bridge club last week end at their summer cottage at Balbo Island. The afternoon was spent in swimming and boating and Mrs Boege served a chicken dinner on the patio in the evening. Prizes in bridge games which followed the dinner were won by Mrs. Richard Glover and Richard Ryan. Others who enjoyed the affair were Mr. and Mrs. Corte Hoskins, Mr. and Mrs. Cheste Ralston, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harmon, Mrs. Ryan and Ms Glover. Mr. and Mrs. Hoskins will entertain the group at their cabin at Big Bear next month. Family Reunion Honors Visitors As a compliment to Mrs. F., Noetzel, Dr. Noetzel, and Miss Ka Volz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin Col. Bailey was for a number of years co-ordinator of traffic for the army and was stationed in Washington. He is now engaged in private business and is enjoying a well earned rest from arduous army duties. He and Mrs. Bailey will be in town again for a short visit later in the season. Don Fehlmans Entertain Club Climaxing an afternoon of swimming, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Fehlman enjoyed Wiener bake on the beach and an evening of bridge Saturday at the beach cottage of the host and hostess in Balboa. Prizes for the bridge games were awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Neil Schroth of Whittier, Alfred Bonney and Mrs. Albert Cranston. The guest list included members of the bridge club to which the host and hostess belong and Mrs. Frances Delzell, mother of Mrs. Fehlman, Miss Helen Dunstan of Jamestown, S. D., and Miss Thelma Delzell of Corvallis, Oregon. Club members present were Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Bonney, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cranston, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Curtis, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bonney and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Schroth. Family Reunion Honors Visitors As a compliment to Mrs. F. Noetzel, Dr. Noetzel, and Miss Kai Volz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin who are visiting relatives in Anheim, a large family reunion was held recently at the Ramona Hotel in Ramona. After the dinner, guests were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Volz at Point Lomont Among those present were J. Volz, Miss Kay Volz, Mrs. Ma Lehnen, Miss L. Lehnen, Mrs. J. Noetzel and son, Dr. Noetzel, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Osborne, Miss Helen Clay, at Mr. and Mrs. James Wirt. John A. Morgan, secretary of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, and Mrs. Morgan are vacationing in San Francisco and the bay area this week. Mr. Morgan is also attending the Western Conference of Commercial Secretaries which started yesterday at Stanford university. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY LTD. Doris Deane Sanford Weds Santa Anan Selecting the Los Angeles Wedding Manor-Parlor for the event, Miss Doris Deane Sanford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neuman H. Sanford of 320 N. Lemon street, was wedded last Saturday afternoon to Lewis H. Dance of Santa Ana. Rev. R. Dubose read the ceremony. The bride was attended by Miss Vivian Forester of Fullerton, while Bud Fickas of Santa Ana served as best man for Mr. Dance. The newly wedded couple left immediately after the ceremony for a honeymoon to be spent in Yosemite and San Francisco. Upon their return they will make their home in Culver City. Mr. Dance is an aircraft mechanic. NEWSY NOTES Joseph Carroll and son, Morris, returned to their home Friday after a three week's eastern trip taken by train. They attended the exposition in New York and made stopovers in Chicago, Washington, Pittsburgh and Denver. Gustavus E. Bruington is among the 180 members of the Purdue university unit of the Reserve Officers Training corps attending the summer camp at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Bruington's home is in Anaheim. Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Sellers returned Saturday from a 22-day vacation trip to the Elks convention at St. Louis. They also visited relatives and friends in Missouri, Colorado and Kansas.
