Officer is Lauded For Quick Action
Action of Paerolman Dale Richardson of Fullerton in halting a freight train as it approached two automobiles which had collided on the railway tracks is believed to have saved the lives of three Orange county residents early Sunday morning.
Cars driven by J. A. Martin, 30, of Placentia and H. B. O'Donnell of Cypress had collided on the West Commonwealth crossing shortly before the train was due. He turned his red spot light toward the engineer and the latter stopped before hitting the wrecks in which were the two drivers and Mrs. O'Donnell.
Martin was booked for drunk driving as the result of the crash.

From stenographer to railroad president in 40 years was the story-book climb that today was completed by Edward J. Engel, newly-named head of The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway company.
Announcement of Engel's appointment to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Samuel T. Bledsoe, president and chairman of the executive committee of the 13,000 mile Santa Fe system since 1933, was made following Tuesday's meeting of that company's Board of Directors.
Farm Federation Seeks Law Change
Sweeping amendments to the Agricultural Prorate act are recommended by the California Farm Bureau federation as vital to the administration of this law in the interest of bona-fide producers.
Among the changes urged by the Farm Bureau, provided the administration of the measure remains in the Agricultural Prorate commission, are:
1. That only bona-fide farmers and growers shall be appointed as members of the commission; that processors, canners, packers, distributors and handlers shall not be permitted to serve on the commission.
2. That only bona-fide producers shall be appointed as members of the various proration program committees; and that processors, canners, packers, distributors, and handlers shall not be permitted to serve on such program committees.
3. That all details of the proposed proration programs be submitted to growers in advance, with Citrus Institute Date Announced
Citrus marketing and economic phases of the industry will be keynote of the annual Or County Citrus Growers institute held Friday, April 7, at San Ana, according to announcements from the farm advisor's office. The all day sessions, beginning 9:45 o'clock, will be held in auditorium of the Willard junior high school.
Among the subjects to be considered are the prorate program selling citrus fruits, factors in encing citrus income, what grower can do to improve prices and economies in orchard management suggested by the Hinde method recently publicized in citrus press.
LeRoy Lyon, Anaheim, dirs on the California Fruit Grove Exchange, and J. A. Baker, resident of the Anaheim Cooper Citrus association, will preside the sessions.
