Increase Recorded Sales in Gasoline Sale
California gasoline sales continued to climb steadily, according to a report issued by the state board of equalization.
On the basis of gasoline district buted during the month of January, the tax amounted to $3,974,767.03, as compared with $3,800,938.78 for the same month of the previous year. This represents a gain of 4.57 per cent.
The tax, according to R. E. Collins, board chairman, was assessed against the sale of 132,558,901 gallons of gasoline as against the 126,764,626 gallons sold in January, 1938.
Motorist Arrested on Traffic Charge
Walter J. Wilson, 23, of Fullerton was arrested by police of the city Monday on a warrant issued from Anaheim charging Wilson with failure to appear on a traffic citation.
The Fullerton man posted bids of $15 for his appearance in Anaheim city court Saturday morning.
Radio Group Coming to Anaheim Church
"First Mate Bob" and the "crime of the Good Ship Grace," radio artists, will be heard Sunday evening at 7 o'clock at the White Temple Methodist church, according to Rev. R. Kells Swenerton.

Charges Dismissed
During Examination
R. M. Johnson, 30. Anaheim
resident, was released Tuesday of
charges of issuing bad checks
when he appeared before City
Judge Frank Tausch for preliminary examination. Dismissal came upon the motion of the district attorney's office on the grounds of lack of evidence.
Johnson was taken into custody last Thursday after he had been released from the county jail, where he had served sentence on a different charge.
PEACE OFFICERS TO
CONVENE AT Tustin
The Orange County Peace Officers association will meet at the Tustin American Legion hall next Wednesday evening. A barbecue dinner will be served by the American Legion Auxiliary of Tustin.
The entertainment will be presented by Vera Merilyn Getty of the Studios of the Stars. The speaker will be Inspector O. M. Murphy of the Long Beach police department, who will speak on "General Police Tactics."
There will be a victory service Sunday at 9:30 o'clock. Rev. Swenerton will preach on "The Victorious Church." A special offertory program is planned.
