Program Adopted for 4-H Clubbers Orange county 4-H club leaders held their regular council meeting Monday, at the Farm Bureau hall. Mrs. G. S. Davis, Anaheim, vice-president of the council, was in charge of the meeting. Club leaders reported satisfactory progress in club projects and enrollments. A program of county-wide events for the year was adopted. The program includes the following: March: Industrial and recreational tour to Los Angeles with probable visits to Griffith planetarium and radio broadcasting studio; May: local county tour to visit outstanding 4-H projects and commercial plants; June: summer camp; July: clothing clubs field day; September: annual state 4-H convention at Davis and Treasure Island; October: achievement program; November: Great Western Livestock show. 4-H club demonstration teams were discussed by Ross E. Crane, assistant farm advisor. It was decided that every club should develop at least one demonstration team during the year and put on a demonstration before some farm or service organization. Bids On $145,000 Bridge Job Asked New Span Will Be Erected Over Santa Ana River On Highway 101 Bids for the $145,000 bridge across the Santa Ana river on Santa Ana river on Santa Ana boulevard are to be opened at the office of the state highway engineer, C. A. Purcell, in the state building, Los Angeles, on February 23. Specifications for the structure call for a reinforced concrete girder span consisting of eight 53-foot spans across the stream and two 48-foot spans at each end. The major cost of the structure will be made from state funds accruing from the state gasoline tax and Santa Ana's share of the project amounting to about $53,000, will come from the city's share of the state gasoline tax. The bridge will be of the most modern type with a raised strip three feet wide in the center and two 12-foot lanes on each side. The former bridge, washed out in the flood of last March, had four 10-foot lanes without the center raised division line. According to J. B. Dr. L. E. Wilson, chairman of the Anaheim chapter of the Red Cross said today in announcing that a local chapter will receive contributions to be sent to Chile. Of the sum already spent, $000 was in cash and the remainder for medical supplies. Medical supplies will be needed was said. For that reason I Cross chapters are asked to accept contributions from the public in the distressed people of Chile. Monrovia Planning Anniversary Fies Monrovia will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the founding of the city on May 20, with a daily program. Highlights of celebration will be a community breakfast, followed by a parade the morning, an Old Time luncheon and horseshow during the afternoon.
