Fullerton Man will Direct Club as President for Coming Year
Herman Hiltscher, Fullerton city engineer, was elected president of the Orange County Engineer's club at the annual meeting held Friday night in Fullerton. He succeeded Richard L. Patterson of Newport Beach.
John King, Fullerton assistant city engineer, was named secretary.
T. C. Wasson, United States secret service agent, spoke on counterfeiting methods and the accomplishments of the secret service in running down makers of fake currency.
The speaker traced origin of the service which was established in 1865 and which for 73 years has carried on the work of protecting the life of the president and of warring on counterfeiters.
Wasson warned against prevalent theft of government checks, which he described as a new racket. He suggested that business men cashing such checks could definitely identify the person presenting it as entitled to the money by comparing the number on the check with the number issued to the individual on an identification card, in case of relief work checks.
Motion pictures of the Monolith Portland Cement company plant and color views of the High Sierra regions were shown.
