turbulent stream. He had seen water running down Orange- thorpe and sweeping through Ful- lerton, Anaheim and Garden Grove.
Supervisor Schumacher said the board is most anxious to begin work upon a concrete span bridge and also eager to see paving of the east side road taken up speedily.
The matter was discussed by a number of other gentlemen, and it was referred to the delegates present from various northern Orange county civic bodies to be taken up by them for thorough discussion.
W. T. Brown called up the matter of the wash between this city and Fullerton. The wash used to be spanned by a long bridge but this had been superseded by small culverts which were altogether inadequate to care for the volume of water flowing therein. He had seen the wash so filled with flood water that one might swim a horse across it. He said that before the state highway is built here the culverts should be replaced by a substantial concrete bridge. He moved that a committee of three be appointed from Anaheim to act jointly with a similar committee already appointed by the city trustees of Fullerton to take the matter up with the supervisors. The motion carried and Chairman Bishop announced that he would refer the matter of selection to the Anaheim Board of Trade.
A deal was consummated last week whereby the Pacific Mausoleum company has purchased the Terry property adjacent to the cemetery, and through the manager, L. O. Culp, it has been learned that this company will soon begin the work of grading and plotting the grounds and doing other preliminary work preparatory to establishing a perpetual upkeep cemetery. With the completion of the magnificent mausoleum which will be under course of construction soon. The cemetery at Anaheim will become one of the best on the coast.
Noll. Mr. Cook was presented with a beautiful meerschaum pipe by his guests.
For the 19th consecutive year C. Chapman, millionaire orange grower and packer of Fullerton, was on Sunday chosen president of the Christian Missionary Society of Southern California, and the announcement of that fact brought the Christian assembly to its feet. There is no man in the Christian faith more beloved than this busy layman and no one who gives more freely to religious and philanthropic work.
Sheriff Charley Ruddock has purchased a lot at the Modjeska Mineral springs and will build a house there for occupancy during the summer vacation season.
