N. P. Robertsons
Celebrate Golden Anniversary
Children of Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Robertson of Caroline avenue, Placentia, honored their parents' golden wedding anniversary Sunday at the Ann Marie teareoom in Placentia. Mr. and Mrs. Robertson have lived in Placentia since shortly after their marriage.
A golden mass was read at St. Mary's church in Fullerton Tuesday morning by the Rev. Father J. I. Lehane, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Robertson.
Host and hostess for the Sunday dinner were Mr. and Mrs. William E. Robertson, Miss Marie Robertson and Miss Nell Robertson.
Guests included Mrs. P. W. Bondesen, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Prader, Miss Jane Bondesen of Salinas; Mr. and Mrs. Allan Johnson of Altadena; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Conners, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Tryk of Santa Monica; Mr. and Mrs. George Tryk, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tryk, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Tryk, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tryk, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Edwards, P. Pantry Shower Honors Bride-Elect
Miss Evelyn Hilgenfeld, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Hilgenfeld, was honored at a pantry shower given Monday evening by Mrs. Neil Campbell at her spacious home in Pasadena. Mrs. Campbell and Miss Hilgenfeld were college friends.
Many interesting and entertaining games were played and the gifts were presented in a unique manner. At a later hour refreshments were served by the hostess.
Those bidden were Ruth Eschbach of South Pasadena; Elizabeth Earl and Ruth Dunn of Pasadena; Vera Freeman of Torrance; Frances K. Hilgenfeld of Los Angeles; Mrs. Harvey C. Nunn of Glendora; Alma Ruth Show and Mrs. S. F. Hilgenfeld of Anaheim, and the honored guest.
Tenth Anniversary Celebrated at Party
The tenth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chambers of 306 W. Cypress was celebrated at a steak bake last Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Glick on North Pine street. Mrs. Peter Sowder assisted Mrs. Glick in hostess duties.
Guests gathered around a long table decorated with green and pink flowers. A seven-layer cake, trimmed in green and pink, was baked and honored guests were presented with a set of wishes.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Daughter Visits Lamar Walkers
Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Donald of Jerome, Arizona, spending a fortnight with Ms McDonald's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Walker of So Claudina street.
Mrs. McDonald is the former Miss Elizabeth Walker. She is graduate of Anaheim union high school and of the University of Arizona. For several years she has been a member of the faculty of public schools at Jerome, where she met Mr. McDonald.
They were married seventeen months ago and are receiving congratulations for friends in this city They will reside in Jerome, where Mr. McDonald is in business.
Daughter Born to Paul L. Winsors
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Leland Worst of 221 E. Wilhelmina strut became the parents of a daughter at St. Joseph hospital Tuesday evening at 10 o'clock.The lady has not yet been named.
The mother is the former M Charlotte Hapgood, daughter Mr. and Mrs.E.P.Hapgood North Philadelphia street.Winsor is a teller at the Bank America, and the baby's great father is city engineer.
Faster Service on Trains Inaugurated
Mrs. Yungbluth Entertains Club
Mrs. F. A. Yungbluth of West Broadway entertained the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge club with a luncheon and bridge game at her beach home at Laguna Beach Tuesday afternoon. Bridge prizes were won by Mrs. Joe Carroll, Mrs. Charles Harbeson and Mrs. Leo Sheridan.
Other guests included Mrs. F. A. Backs, Miss Winifred Melrose, Mrs. L. C. Vincent, Mrs. Ernst Borchert, Mrs. J. A. Clayes, Miss Sophie Rimpau, Mrs. C. H. Mann, Mrs. J. J. Schneider of Belmont Shores, and Mrs. Albert Karien of Columbia, So. Dak., sister of Mrs. Sheridan.
Mrs. Harry Foster Honored at Shower
A surprise shower was given last week for Mrs. Harry Foster at the beach cabin of Mrs. Ed Marion. Members of the Mother's Study group of the Loara Parent-Teachers association were guests. A pot-luck luncheon was enjoyed at noon.
The shower came at the close of the business meeting and was a complete surprise to Mrs. Foster.

Fire insurance policies, renewing coverage on the city hall, its furniture and fixtures, were accepted by the council. Coverage is for $58,000.
A resolution was passed accepting a grant deed from C. C. Chapman company, for property through which the extension of Commercial street from Patt street to Lemon street will pass.
C. C. Driver, Biltmore apartments, filed a claim with the council asking $1210 for repairs to his auto, doctor's bills, loss of time and pain and suffering.
Driver declared he struck a palm tree stump on Palm street near La Palma avenue on May 23 and that the accident was due to the negligence of the city. The claim was referred to the city attorney.

Dr. Ball Memorial Program Planned
A memorial program for Dr. C. D. Ball will be held by the Orange County Historical society at the Bowers Memorial museum, 2010 N. Main street, Santa Ana, tomorrow evening at 8 o'clock.
Two speakers are on the program: Mrs. Anita L. Alexander will speak on "Dr. Ball, Outstanding Citizen." Dr. C. C. Violet will speak on "Dr. Ball, Pioneer Physician."

This verse from the Psalm "Our help is in the name of Lord, who made heaven and earth," is the Golden Text in Lesson-Sermon on Sunday in branches of The Mother Church The First Church of Christ, St tist, in Boston, Massachusetts; question, "Is the Universe, including Man Evolved by At Force?" is the subject.
The Lesson-Sermon includes these verses from Jeremiah: LORD hath brought forth righteousness; come, and let declare in Zion the work of LORD our God.... He hath rived the earth by his power, he established the world by his dom, and hath stretched out heaven by his understanding; includes also this verse from Psalms: "Let Israel rejoice him; let the children of Zion joyful in their King."
Among the correlative passages from the Christian Science book, "Science and Health Key to the Scriptures," by B Baker Eddy, are the words: scientific fact that man and universe are evolved from Satan and so are spiritual, is as fix divine Science as is the proof mortals gain the sense of him only as they lose the sense of and disease."
EARL R. ABBEY
The announcement of Earl R. Abbey, coroner and public administrator, that he will be a candidate to succeed himself at the August primary was given to the press today.
A significant feature of the announcement was the statement that Abbey's candidacy has the backing of every mortician in the county.
"This fact is disclosed," said the announcement, "only to show that my effort to administer the office impartially as well as efficiently, has met with the universal approval and endorsement of the business group most nearly in a position to observe and judge my qualifications.
"It is hoped and believed that my efforts likewise have met with approval of others generally, since I have exerted myself to the utmost to administer my sometimes difficult and delicate duties with sympathetic understanding that should always reside in this office."
It is upon this record of capability and efficiency that Abbey is seeking re-election.

Minstrels Ready For Presentation
Presenting a program packed with variety, running from old Southern melodies to German semi-classical songs, Mexican folk dance to modern tap routine, negro dialect gags and jokes to the later musical-comedy sketches, the Townsend Minstrel will be offered in the auditorium of the union high school tomorrow evening at eight o'clock.
All dance numbers presented will be through the courtesy of the Richards-Martin school of dancing. These will include a Spanish dance by Tillie Sanchez, a tap duo by Warren and Harry Heckman, a Mexican folk dance, "Chiapanecas", by Shirley Tozer and Margaret Alvin, and a buck dance by Edith Brown and Wilma Fleddermann. Mrs. H. H. Heckman will accompany all dance acts on the piano.
Lending charm to the program will be a duet in German by Miss Estelle Seabourn, voice teacher at the Anaheim Conservatory of Music, and Max F. Trabant. Other singers will include George Jackson and Blanch Owens, of Santa Ana; J. D. Rasmussen, H. D. McBride, and Harry English. Mrs. Kate E. McCullah, Miss Elizabeth Heckman and Mrs. Anna Siegal will be the accompanists for the vocal selections.
The black-face comedy is in the hands of "Pinky" Gist, A. C. Peck, W. J. Crane and J. L. Bonnat. "Pinky" will also be featured in the minstrel after-piece, "The Wireless Telephone Station," a telebild comedy.

Harold Keirsey, Ed Keath, L. H. Loudon and Ernest DuBois followed Horn in order. Keirsey and Keath have since passed away and Loudon and DuBois were not present.
Breakfast meetings were inaugurated in 1937 under the presidency of Herb Eldred, creating better fellowship among the merchants. Eldred said the success of the association that year was due to the cooperation of the city council and other organizations.
Herron spoke briefly in appreciation of the cooperation he had received during the past year. He then introduced his successor, Cone.
"With the cooperation of the chamber of commerce, city council, merchants and other organizations, I hope to accomplish a little more than ever before, thus maintaining tradition of the association," Cone said in accepting the gavel.
Cadets Celebrate Corpus Christi Day
Corpus Christi day was celebrated this morning by St. Catherine's school with a procession. Rev. Father Heidker, C. S. S. R., officiated at the two outside altars, assisted by Rev. Father Michael Carlos, Rev. Father James Nevin, and Rev. Father John Quantannens.
Driving licenses of 1,374 motorists were revoked, suspended, cancelled or placed on a probationary basis during May, according to a compilation made by Paul Mason, chief of the division of drivers licenses of the department of motor vehicles.
Orange county had 24 suspensions, four revocations and cancellations and six probations. These actions involved 29 cases of drunken driving.

Sheppard Welcome Planned on June 28
The Sheppard homecoming has been definitely scheduled for Tuesday evening, June 28, according to announcement this morning by the committee on arrangements. This will supercede any and all states previously mentioned.
The city auditorium in Riveride has been selected for the homecoming celebration which will be attended by friends and supporters of Sheppard from all parts of Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Joe Shea is in charge of arrangements in Anaheim.

Huntington Library Visitors Set Mark
Nearly 17,000 visitors were received at the Huntington Library and Art Gallery last month, an all-time record for May. Among the guests were nearly 150 groups from colleges, schools, clubs, and conventions, the highest record for any month since 1928, when the exhibitions were opened to the public.
Over 100 of the organized groups were from educational institutions. Records show that school and college officials are placing greater importance on visits of students to the Huntington Library exhibition.
