Jump Without Parachute Will be Feature of Santa Ana Air Show
Slowly, deliberately the airplane circles the field at the Eddie Martin airport.
Thousands of eyes are glued on that plane, for in just a moment a figure will leap from the cockpit. No parachute is attached to the figure. The crowd is tensely expectant. How can he reach the ground without being smashed to bits.
But he will, and there are no tricks to the stunt. It's one of the big features of the second annual Santa Ana Air Show to be staged on June 19 at the Eddie Martin airport.
Little Bobby will leap from a speeding plane 1000 feet in the air, without a parachute or any other equipment to keep him from dropping to a sudden and horrible death.
It's all in the regular course of business for Little Bobby. He's made 178 such spectacular jumps already, and never yet has been hurt. Of course, his wings help some, but they weren't made for flying.
Little Bobby, you see, is a banity rooster, who took up his unusual sport after intensive training at the hands of Bob Nolan, of Los Angeles.
Roosters were not built to fly, but Little Bobby overcame the disadvantages of his kind. He started out just jumping off low places, a few feet in the air. Gradually his skill and courage grew, until he leaped from airplanes not far above the ground. And gradually the distance was increased until at times he hurtles himself out of planes as high as 2000 feet in the air.
And Little Bobby always makes a three-point landing after a thrilling period in an element unnatural to birds of his kind. He'll be one of the star performers at the air show on June 19, along with his human pals who will demonstrate and fly new ships and put on a colorful program that will last from dawn until dusk.

L. C. Herron, chairman of the chamber's parking committee, expressed his appreciation for the support given the work of his committee by the police department and newspapers of the city. Considerable improvement has been noted in the past three weeks in the amount of available parking space, he added.
"We hope, eventually, to have free parking for everyone in Anaheim," Ferron said.
"Storefronts reflect the personality of the business," L. H. Loudon said in urging that owners of business property modernize their buildings. The speaker pointed out that Anaheim is the logical city to attract business available from workers on the flood control project and declared that it will be the attractive stores which will get that business. Loudon also urged persons employed permanently in Anaheim to construct their own homes, thus providing dwellings for the many persons desiring to make their homes in this city who are unable to do so because of the housing shortage.
President Harry C. Arthur, Sr., named a committee comprising Victor G. Loly, Miss Irene Case, Mrs. Jack Corn, Earle T. Jackson and Lars Lund to canvas the ballots of the primary election to select six directors. The committee will meet next Monday evening.
