Immediately following graduation he went to Montana and practiced law at Billings for 15 years, where he served two terms as county attorney. He came to Orange county. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCH "God the Preserver of Man" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon on Sunday in all Christian Science Churches, branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. The Golden Text is from Isaiah: "As the birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it." Among the Bible citations in the Lesson-Sermon are these words of Jeremiah: "O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters; Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved; for thou art my praise." 3—Township 4—Range 10, $1.55. Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved; for thou art my praise." A passage from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy, states: "Mortals obtain the harmony of health, only as they forsake discord; acknowledge the supremacy of divine Mind, and abandon their material beliefs... By lifting thought above error, or disease, and contending persistently for truth you destroy error." No property is exempt from seizure and sale for personal property taxes; even the homestead and house utensils are subject thereto. The law is imperative. (SEAL) 6/2-9-16 Beach Oil Wells to be Broadcast Topic Orange county will find one of its cities the subject of nationwide attention next Sunday when John Hix, on his weekly "Strange As It Seems" radio program, dramatizes the story of some of Huntington Beach's oil wells. Using the title "Encyclopedia Oil," Hix will present a playlet revealing how a New England publisher and a California real estate operator combined forces to sell books with city lots as premiums; and how later oil was discovered on the lots that had been obtained without cost by the fortunate owners. The program can be heard locally from KNX at 2 o'clock. "UNREAL REALITIES" NO BARBER SHOP HERE Members of the interesting cult known as the House of David have their community dwelling at Benton Harbor, Michigan. Newspapers have kept this odd Utopia in the rotogravure for many years—for the men never shave. Their beards are full grown—and they don't even compromise on a boyish bob, their hair is just plain long. BIGGEST ROOM If people could be packed like sardines, nearly half the population of the United States could be contained in the "Big Room" of Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico, at one time. This room is but one of many in the largest series of caverns yet discovered! LAST OF THE VOLCANOES Nature's most terrifying manifestation is a volcano spitting up fire and clouds of smoke and molten lava. When America was young, dozens of these "gateways to hell" lighted the skies and shook the earth—they only one volcano remains active in continental United States, Mt.Lassen; in California. MORE THAN 4 RAILROADS More miles of routes are served by Greyhound Lines and its connecting carriers than the four largest railroads in the United States combined! And with quantity goes quality as well, because Greyhound's schedules are frequent, comfort is the by-word, still it costs the traveler so little.
