Resolutions Adopted at Convention at Riverside Saturday are Listed
The Republicans of the 19th California Congressional District in convention assembled, at this time of crisis in the affairs of our government believe it to be our duty and solemn responsibility to all the people of this District to formulate and announce these principles which we believe should be translated into national action, and we do hereby resolve as follows:
Constitution
We maintain that the constitution of the United States is the supreme and fundamental law of the Nation.
We maintain that its provisions should remain inviolate, free from change, alteration or innovation, except through the due, orderly and regular processes provided for in the Constitution itself.
We charge the New Deal with a deliberate intent of subverting the Constitution by devious means, without the courage of resorting to legal methods of amendment.
This government has sought to make rubber stamps of the people's representatives; it has sought to subject the Supreme Court to the authority of the Executive; it has sought to place all the great departments under the dictation of the President.
We desire to praise those Democratic Senators and Representatives in Congress who have placed love of Country above party affiliations and have revolted at the shocking attempt to place our government under the absolute domination of a president, governed by a lust for power. We deplore the fact that we cannot include in this list of patriotic offenses can only be restored by the elimination of punitive tax measures, and the assurance of cooperation, rather than the continued policy of antagonism.
National Defense and Foreign Relations
We are opposed to interference in the affairs of other nations. We deprecate war. We maintain that the surest safeguard to our peace and prosperity is the maintenance of adequate army, a navy and aviation forces to protect all borders from aggressors or invasion. In this regard we call attention to the inadequate protection of the Pacific Coast and suggest further development and enlargement of March Field.
Agriculture
Agriculture should be assisted by adequate tariff protection which is in the interest of American Labor, the American Farmer and the Ultimate Consumer. The importation of low-cost foreign goods or food products can result only in depression of the American Market. We protest, therefore, the policy of reciprocal trade agreements where agriculture is penalized as destructive to the tariff principle.
We insist that the farmer have a free road to market.
Civil Service
We are opposed to any attempt to eliminate Civil Service from the Federal Government.
Social Security
Social Security is a national problem and we advocate the provision by the Federal government of Social Security compatible with American Standards of living, based on a "pay as you go" policy.
Services Yesterday for Catalina Rivas
Funeral services were celebrated yesterday morning for Catalina Rivas, 19, who died day morning. Recitation of Holy Rosary was held at the genfeld chapel Tuesday evening. Miss Rivas was born in Anaheim more than 18 years. She lived by her father, F. Rivas; two sisters, Eleanor Esther Rivas of Anaheim half-sisters, Stella Reos and Carmichael Reos of Anaheim and a brother, James F. Selma.

Nearly 85 percent of today's taxes were paid before deadline last Wednesday. Tax Collector J. C. Lamb ed. That is a slight increase last year, although the total roll was about $1,000,000 than in the previous year.
Of a total tax charge for 38 of $5,466,275.54, $4,60 had been paid during the from November 1 to April Lamb said.

We desire to praise those Democratic Senators and Representatives in Congress who have placed love of Country above party affiliations and have revolted at the shocking attempt to place our government under the absolute domination of a president, governed by a lust for power. We deplore the fact that we cannot include in this list of patriotic officials the present representative of the 19th California Congressional District.
We hold it essential to the preservation of the rights and liberties of American Citizens to preserve inviolate the integrity and authority and powers of Congress and the Supreme Court without any encroachment thereon by the Executive branch of the Government.
Labor
We recognize the right of groups to organize for the protection of their interests and hold it essential for the government, if called upon, to arbitrate and adjust impartially, differences between employees and employers, with equal responsibilities and accountabilities for both.
We condemn violence, intimidation and coercion on the part of employers and employees as being unAmerican, and hold to the principle of honest arbitration.
Unemployment and Relief
We propose that relief be taken out of politics. We maintain that relief can be more efficiently administered by placing it under the exclusive control of responsible local units of government and propose this method of caring for those now on relief until their absorption by private industry.
Business and Finance
We insist on a return to sound business principle in place of the present experimental theories being used in the handling of government finances. We advocate a sound currency and a return to the gold standard as soon as world economic conditions will permit. The continued competition of government with private business will lead to the destruction of initiative and private enterprises and will eventually result in economic collapse. We hold that business con-

Social Security is a national problem and we advocate the provision by the Federal government of Social Security compatible with American Standards of living, based on a "pay as you go" policy. If this cannot be provided by amendment to the present Social Security Act, we favor new legislation to cover the entire matter.
