were destroyed. An additional 3200 feet near the screening plant site is buried under 10 feet of silt and its condition is unknown. About 18,000 feet between these two regions appears to be in good condition. The ocean end of the line is intact.
Mayor A. C. Boice of Orange last night assured the board that his city would have a definite decision by Friday evening relative to remaining or withdrawing from the district. As soon as that decision is made known to City Engineer E. P. Hapgood he will contact WPA officials in Santa Ana and the application for a grant will be wired immediately to Washington. Action there is expected to be prompt.
J. F. Johnson, WPA zone engineer, told Hapgood Monday that he would be able to have a crew at work in a week. Several changes, of benefit to the district, were made in the application by Johnson.
Breaks in section two of the sewer line will be repaired by tomorrow evening. Hapgood declared. There were 99 new breaks caused by the flood Thursday morning, which added to those during the rainy period brought executive board last night.
