Vagrant sentenced to 15 Days in Jail
Arrested when he attracted suspicion by attempting to pass checks to two Anaheim merchants, James H. Sumpter, 40, of Long Beach was charged Friday with vagrancy. Neither merchant accepted the proffered check.
Sumpter was arraigned before City Judge Frank Tausch Saturday morning and sentenced to the county jail for 15 days after pleading guilty to the charge.
There are other signs of old age, but none more certain than the habit of telling strangers about your ailments.

Lot Six (6) in Block "A" of the Subdivision of Vineyard Lot "D3", as at page 592, of Deeds, records of Los Angeles, California, together with the tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining.
Public Notice is hereby given that on the 21st day of March, 1938, at 10:00 o'clock A.M. of said day, at the South Door of the Court House of said County of Orange, in the City of Santa Ana, Orange County, California, in obedience of said Order of Sale and Decree of Foreclosure and Writ for the Enforcement of Judgment, I will sell the above described property, or so much thereof as may be necessary to satisfy said Judgment with interest and costs and expenses of sale, at public auction to the highest and best bidder for Cash, in lawful money of the United States.

No playbill on the Pasadena list has attracted more attention in its premiere showing than the story of the two famous collaborators. Music from the 14 Gilbert and Sullivan operas, a dramatic microscope placed upon the lives, loves and quarrels of the men themselves, combine to the intrigue of the Allvine play.
The Playhouse company serves under the direction of William Williams, himself a former member of the Winthrop Ames' New York company.
Robin Jackson, whose golden voice has warranted the attention of Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein III, Earl Gunn as Gilbert and Dana Andrews as Sullivan head the cast of 80.
"Pride and Prejudice," current Pasadena Community Playhouse attraction, completes its run Saturday.
Jay G. Adams Rites are Held Saturday
Funeral services for Jay G. Adams, 53, were conducted from the Hilgenfeld funeral home last Saturday afternoon. Rev. Don Milligan, former pastor of Calvary church in Placentia, officiated at the chapel and the Masonic ritual was read at Melrose Abbey mausoleum.
Adams was a victim of an accident in El Segundo last Wednesday in which he was electrocuted.

WPA Office Here is Visited by Burglar
The trailer office of the WPA crew located at Citron and Sycamore streets was entered Tuesday night and a small quantity of property stolen, according to Anaheim police reports. Entrance was gained through a window.
The burglar removed a first aid kit valued at $3.50 and a quantity of loose lead refills for pencils, it was reported.
Indiana Society to Have Picnic Feb. 27
Indiana state semi-annual basket picnic and re-union will be held Sunday, February 27, at Sycamore park, Los Angeles, under the auspices of the Indiana State society.
A good program will be given at 2 o'clock, including music and short addresses, and county registers will enable friends to find each other under the spreading sycamore trees.
RE-SIGNING ROADS
Over 7,000 two-sided metal signs have been erected on unincorporated Los Angeles county streets and highways, according to the National Automobile club. The Los Angeles county road department will install an additional 7,000 before the work is completed.
