SOCIETY CLUBS
Iwanis Club Members entertain Wives at Annual Ladies' Night Party
Approximately 125 members of the Iwanis club, their wives and friends attended the club's annual ladies' night program given Tuesday evening at the Anaheim Elks club. Entertainment for the evening was planned mainly by wives of members of the club.
The group was divided into 10 tables, each of which represented nation and presented a skit which related to the country represented. Costumes depicting characteristics of the various peoples were worn at tables were decorated in such a manner as to suggest some nature of the country.
Each table had a hostess, who was in charge of the skit given by at table. Miss Dorothy Yunguth was hostess at the China table and its stunt was a streetene in front of a Chinese laundry.
Italy, with Mrs. Harry Horn as hostess, offered a skit touching on themes of Italian immigrants entering the United States.
Mrs. Ted Kuchel was hostess at the Ireland table which offered a skit depicting several Irish scenes. Billy Robertson of Fullerton sang several Scotch songs as the representative of the Scotland table. Mrs. George Henry was hostess at that table. Mr. Robertson was accompanied by Missatherine Steward.
"Royal Spanish Bullfight" was the theme of the Spanish table, of which Mrs. Ewald Lemcke was hostess.
Mrs. J. P. Brastad was hostess at the Norway table and the skit nowed winter sport scenes.
The Olympic games was the motif of the skit given by the Greek table, of which Mrs. Max Henderson was hostess.
The Birth of Christ was depicted by the Palestine table. Mrs. Mary Mitchell New President of A. B. Paul, W. R. C.
Mrs. Mary Mitchell will serve as president of the A. B. Paul Woman's Relief Corps No. 134 during the year 1937, having been elected at the regular meeting of the organization last Tuesday afternoon at the I. O. O. F. hall. Mrs. Mitchell will succeed Mrs. Mamie Brumegim.
Other officers elected Tuesday are Nora Dodge, senior vice president, Rosetta Sparks, junior vice president; Mrs. Elva Bruederle, treasurer; Mrs. Nina Law, chapain; Mrs. Emma Yale, conductor; and Mrs. Elizabeth Sparks, guard.
Appointive officers will be announced at the corps' next meeting.
Delegates to the convention at Stockton, next April will be Mrs. Nora Dodge and Mrs. Elizabeth Sparks, with Mrs. Alma Pressell and Mrs. Clara Heying named alternates.
Reports of various committees occupied the remainder of the business meeting.
Whittaker-Raine Wedding Event of Thanksgiving Day
Added pleasure was given to Thanksgiving dinner party at the T. H. Hollingworth home last week when the occasion also marked the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Hollingworth's daughter, Mrs. Myrtelle Whittaker, to Clyde Raine, both of Newport Beach.
The Hollingworths live at 325 E. Broadway. Preceding the turkey dinner, exactly at noon, the Rev. R. Kells Swenerton read the marriage service which united Mrs. Whittaker and Mr. Raine. Attending them were Mrs. Whittaker's niece and nephew, Miss Margaret and Mr. Tom Crosgrove.
Betty Jane Cosgrove, of Los Angeles, was also a guest while other members of the family present included Mr. and Mrs. D.J. Hollingworth and their three children; Mr. and Mrs. John Michaeli and two sons; and Mr. and Mrs.Ted Hollingworth and son. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. Margaret Winslow of Santa Ana, Mrs.Susie Hall of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mrs.Lily Brinkerhoff of Oneonta, New York.
Mrs. Whittaker came to Anaheim as an infant, and grew up here, attending the local schools. She has made her home at Newport Beach for the past six years. Mr.Raine was born and raised on a ranch near Santa Ana. He is a retired naval officer and served actively during the World war.
The couple will be at home at Newport Beach following their brief honeymoon.
Christmas Theme

Present and incoming officers of the club were introduced during the evening and retiring President Ernest DuBois and incoming President William P. Webb each spoke briefly. DuBois was presented with a suit case by the club.
Dr. Homer Nelson was introduced as the newly elected lieutenant-governor of the California-Nevada district and it was announced he would be formally installed at Buena Park December 8.
The annual Christmas party for under privileged children will be given at the meeting of the Kiwanis club December 22, it was announced by Curtis Case.
Following the program dancing was held.
Hold Christmas Benefit Party
The annual Christmas benefit party of the Ladies' Elk's club was held yesterday afternoon at the clubhouse. Funds from the event will be devised to use for the holiday activities for the less fortunate.
Committee members in charge were Mrs. Frank Newton, ways and means chairman, refreshments; Mrs. J. H. Brunsworth, cards and tables; Mrs. C. F. Grim and Mrs. Henry Mang, Sr., decorations; and Mrs. William Payne, prizes.
Appointive officers will be announced at the corps' next meeting.

The social club of the corps will meet with Mrs. Mary Mitchell, 717 S. Los Angeles street, for a pot luck luncheon Monday, December 21, it was announced. Each member will bring a 10 cent gift for the Christmas party to be held at that time.
Following the meeting refreshments were served by Hazel Davis and Elizabeth Sparks.
Junior Ebell Club To Give Party For Small Girls
The Anaheim Junior Ebell club will hold its annual Christmas children's party at the Elks club on the evening of December 15, it has been announced. The program will take place of the regular monthly meeting, and a short business session will be conducted by Mrs. Kenneth Walker before the entertainment.
Each member of the club will be hostess to a small girl, according to plans made by Mrs. Robert Rossberg, chairman of the social service committee. The feature of the evening will be a puppet show given by two Santa Ana girls, and Santa Claus will distribute gifts to the youngsters.
Section meetings for the month include a party for the child study group to be given at the home of Mrs. Robert Hatfield in Fullerton, December 8, and tap-dance class meeting at the Richards-Martin studios tonight and December 17. The literature and travel section will not meet this month.
Christmas Theme Feature of Round Table Club
Christmas activities centered the theme of the meeting of the Placentia Round Table club yesterday afternoon at the clubhouse with a talk on "Christmas Wrapings" by Mrs. Enid Case. Miss Mabel Faulkner of Orange gave brief sketches of books suitable for Christmas giving to the different age and taste groups.

Ebell Members Will Hear Dr. Carl Knopf
Dr. Carl Knopf of the University of Southern California school of religion will be the speaker at the annual Christmas program of the Anaheim Ebell club next Monday afternoon. Dr. Knopf will use as his topic, "The Meaning of Christmas," according to Mrs. A. P. M. Brown, program chairman.
Musical entertainment will be furnished by Mrs. Walter Ross, who will sing several numbers. A violin ensemble from Anaheim union high school will accompany Mrs. Ross.
A luncheon will be held preceding the program in the afternoon, it was announced. Mrs. William P. Webb, Jr., is arranging the program for the luncheon, reservations for which may be made by telephoning Mrs. John Brastad.

Parent-Teachers Association Sponsors Dance
Students of Anaheim union high school will dance tomorrow (Friday) night at the high school gym in an affair sponsored by the high school Parent-Teachers association.
Dancing will start at 8:30 o'clock with Frank Neimann's orchestra from Laguna Beach furnishing the music.
Chaperones for the affair will be Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Armentrout, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cran, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Alden, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schumacher.
It was announced today that the P.-T. A. will honor members of the high school's football teams at a banquet to be given at the school a week from tomorrow night.
Barbara Prizer, Donald Hobbs Engagement Told
Announcement of the engagement of Miss Barbara Prizer, Donald Hobbs was made recent at a party given at the home of the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Prizer, in Fullerton. Mr. Hibbs is the son of Mrs. Grahobbs of Anaheim.
Date for the wedding was set January 23.
Bridge was played during evening with prizes given to Mrs. Eloise Wright of Anaheim, M. Gena Troy of Los Angeles and Miss Winifred Eadington of Fullerton.
Refreshments were served Mrs. Prizer, assisted by her daughters, Miss Prizer and Mrs. Kenneth Chesley of Long Beach.

Miss Barbara Prizer, Old Hobbs Management Told
An announcement of the engagement of Miss Barbara Prizer to Hobbs was made recently partly given at the home of one-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Prizer, in Fullerton. Hobbs is the son of Mrs. Grace of Anaheim. For the wedding was set as 23.
