One of the Scriptural selections includes this verse about Jesus, from Matthew: "And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them." Another citation presents these verses from John: "Then said Jseus to those Jews which believed on him. If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." The Lesson-Sermon includes also this passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy; "The law of Christ, or Truth, but the so-called laws of matter makes all things possible to Spirit; would render Spirit of no avail, and demand obedience to materialistic codes, thus departing from the basis of one God, one law-maker." TAKES IN LOTTA TERRITORY The first president of these United States advised against entangling alliances with foreign countries. No doubt this was viewed from a military standpoint. But now along comes those reciprocal trade relations. Many of those foreign countries sell us ten times more cheaply produced articles, than they buy, thus crippling home industries. There, there, now, Mr. Bread Winner, don't cry! TAKING THEIR GRIST TO THE MILL A man who knows his onions says when a silver country buys anything from a gold country they pay the bill with silver. And when a gold country buys from a silver country they pay with gold. And here is where the big international money go-betweens get into the picture. The man says they collect the difference in the price of the two metals in order to keep thing going. AIN'T IT A SHAME About five or six life guards are needed for patrolling our beaches in unincorporated areas. The WPA has many men available—but they cannot work on Sunday. Well Sunday is not the proper day to swim anyway. Wife Preservers Dry slices of bread, dipped in milk and baked in the oven, make excellent toast. (Political Advertisement) Why You Should Vote to Nominate HARRY R. SHEPPARD (FOR CONGRESS) on the Democratic Ticket, at the Primary Election, August 25, 1936 "I am for the rights of labor to organize for collective bargaining. They should have the same rights as organized business. I further believe after they have devoted their lives in productive labor and creating the real wealth of the nation, the enactment of the Townsend plan should be called upon to provide the earned annuities for these laboring groups." SURE, I’ll Vote For Jim Tuffree Next Fall MANY VOTERS ARE BEING LULLED BY THE THOUGHT THEY CAN VOTE FOR ONE OF THE SUPERVISOR CANDIDATES AT THE PRIMARY ELECTION ON AUGUST 25 AND THEN CAST A BALLOT FOR THEIR REAL CHOICE. S. James Tuffree of Placentia IN THE NOVEMBER ELECTION But only the two candidates who receive the most votes in August will be in the November runoff election. Unless his many friends support him actively on Tuesday, August 25, when every vote will count, there may not be an opportunity to cast a ballot for him later. For this reason every voter should weigh carefully the platform and promises of each candidate. Be sure and mark YOUR Ballot for S. JAMES TUFFREE for Supervisor of the Third District of Orange County. Election Tuesday, August 25 THE OLD HOME TOWN Registered U: S.
