Since pulling a typical "Prince o'Wales" last Saturday a number of my friends (?) have urged that I allow them to do my stuff this week so here's to it: I knew that you'd eventually fall down on the job... you know they have riding schools hereabouts and at least you'll learn... if it's possible... that there are no brakes, nor breaks... on a horse. Next time let somebody ride that's heavy enough to hold a horse on the ground.—Ray Smith. Ain't he the pal though? You had nothing to worry about. You had my men to the front of you and my men to the rear of you. — Chief Jim Bouldin. Yeah... I know that... and I think the horse had some idea along the same line... you know horses are somewhat particular... even more so than I... I'm getting so I don't like cops either. I'm glad you were riding with an army uniform on well a little bald but... still young... you know... well anyway... Yuarda Akerman and some of her co-workers took some stuff last Wednesday morning and started for the vet's hospital... (among other things some pillows—wonder if some of those boys have joined the cavalry too)... but they stopped to see Harry and get some gas and other essentials for a trip via gasbuggy. In the last minute instructions which come so readily from wives... Harry was informed that he would "find the dog food on the shelf..." and nothing was said about what was there for Harry... well now wouldn't you guess that Harry's been in the dog house a lot lately and now the Missus don't know which is which... so just to save time she bought all dog food? Would you?... er wouldn't you?... I don't know what to say. FOX ANAHEIM 229 W. Center Phone 8609 Sunday, Monday, Tuesday Jan. 19-20-21 Sun. Continuous from 2 P.M. There you go, suggesting a saddle again... but then it would be closer to the ground. The only reason Smitty wasn't philing leather Saturday was because he couldn't find any to pull.-Fay Barnett. Maybe it's a good thing I couldn't, I probably would've pulled the whole saddle off. Ho, ho, ho, ha, ha... I'm still laughing. — Lieut. Chas. Schmitt. Well, what can I say to that? I hardly think we should laugh at a fellow's man's misfortune—Dr. Herb Johnston. Thanks Doc. But I guess if I missed fortune it wasn't between me, in the saddle, and the ground, that is a certain portion of a certain corner on a certain street. I heard somewhere in the distant past something about, "Give a man a horse he can ride." Now it seems to have been changed somewhat... it's "Give a horse 'a man that can ride..."—K. B. Rigby. Et tu Brute. (I wonder if I have a friend in town.) Well, now that most of them have had their say ... and after all I was there, so I'll tell my story. This horse that I was atop of ... was a high-strung lady and inasmuch as I can't make much of a hit with the ladies, anyway, and this little (14 hands high) girl wanted to show me how well she was reared and ... well what was there for me to do but part company with her. Being of a naturally clumsy disposition where the ladies are concerned, I parted with her rather rudely and just once more I'll write in my diary... "thrown down by a lady... horse" and that's the final straw in any man's diary. Well now that we have the horse situation all settled, here I find, comes another animal story ... or is it... There's a story going the rounds that Yuarda Akerman, popular president of the American Legion Auxiliary is somehow mixed up with a dog story ... nothing was said about her husband being in the dog house (her husband happens to be one Harry Akerman who is...
