MORE AMENDMENTS THREATENED
In a recent address Representative Huddleston, of Alabama, one of the Democratic congressional leaders, made the rather disturbing statement that thoughtful members of Congress fear a strong attempt will be made soon to secure the enactment of socialistic amendments to the American Constitution. Representative Huddleston has never been an alarmist nor a sensation seeker. His statement bears food for considerable thought.
Most Americans may be surprised to know that in the recent Congress no less than sixty-five resolutions were introduced to amend the Constitution of the United States. Of course not all of them were socialistic or designed to change our fundamental law. Yet enough of them were of the radical type to give cause for considerable alarm on the part of thoughtful Americans. They went all the way from curtailing the power of the Supreme Court to pass on the validity of legislation, to permitting Congress to enact almost any kind of legislation it pleases under the "welfare clause."
The Constitution of the United States is, of course, the very cornerstone of American social and economic life and American traditions. Every school boy is aware of that. Never before, however, has there been so concerted an effort to change that law. Fortunately amending the Constitution is a long drawn out process and one that must necessary have careful consideration. It is to be hoped that if, and when, any of these socialistic amendments are offered to the people for consideration, they will be summarily rejected.
Congressman Huddleston offered the opinion, according to a member of the great New Dealers the chaplain driving. His views are well known to all, with mentions should be viewed wily demonstrated to be fundamental maintenance of American society.
Dear Editor and Fellow Countrymen:
As the Registrars of voters abroad in our land every year has an opportunity to add strength or weakness to this most perfect form of government known to man.
We call it a Democracy a can function perfectly only with a two party system with the cleavage being the most issue of the time and just to extent that we support a law that is true to our Constitution and to the people can we be citizens. In 1918 a distinguished Judge of California said to "The liquor question is more important to the welfare of this Nation than slavery ever was." Said "Slavery was confined to a section but there is not a nor corner in the United States that is not affected by the lia traffic." That statement was ever more true than today.
After fifty years of control a party both branches of war are false to their mission is it wonder there has been "produced the worst economic depression in the history of the country."

It is to be hoped that if, and when, any of these socialistic amendments are offered to the people for consideration, they will be summarily rejected.
Congressman Huddleston offered the opinion, according to the Associated Press, that a great many of the acts passed by the last Congress were unconstitutional, and that when the Supreme Court scraps these acts the radicals will speed up their appeal for Constitutional amendments on the theory that they are "working for the people."
"There are members who are greatly disturbed over the situation," Mr. Huddleston is quoted as stating. "They are the more thoughtful members and those with the better type of legal training, too."
Most of the resolutions introduced in Congress to amend the Constitution, were introduced by so-called "liberals," Congressman Huddleston said.
"But the only thing they are liberal in," he added, "is in spending other people's money. It is amazing that they should steal the name of 'liberals.'"
"True liberalism consists of standing for the greatest possible freedom of action on the part of a citizen, whereas these false liberals are all for restricting his freedom of action and for his regimentation under governmental control."
Congressman Huddleston is a statesman and not a politician whose mere purpose is to discredit the New Deal. He

A member of the great political party whose victory gave New Dealers the chance to seize the reins and to start building. His views are worthy of serious consideration. Now the time, above all, when proposed constitutional amendments should be viewed with suspicion until they are clearly demonstrated to be fundamentally sound and helpful in the maintenance of American ideals.
The Better Box
Editor and Fellow Entrymen:
The Registrars of voters are in our land every citizen can opportunity to add either strength or weakness to this, the perfect form of government to man.
Call it a Democracy and it function perfectly only under party system with the line evasion being the most vital of the time and just to the point that we support a party is true to our Constitution to the people can we be loyal citizens. In 1918 a distinguished leader of California said to me, "Liquor question is more vital than welfare of this Nation than any ever was." Said he, "Every was confined to a small town but there is not a nook corner in the United States not affected by the liquor crisis." That statement was never true than today.
After fifty years of control by forty both branches of which else to their mission is it any longer there has been "produced worst economic depression in history of the country."
sibility as citizens of their government.
The founders of this Democracy sensed the danger of mob action such as we have witnessed and they provided a bulwark, the Supreme Court for the protection of future generations that our heritage may not be swept away by a waft of the hand. Dare we call ourselves true Americans if we sit idly by and see the foundation of our government scorned and treated as a scrap of paper? There is but one method provided for our protection from the rum curse, viz. the right use of the ballot and every citizen is compelled to add support either to the liquor party or the no liquor party. "Choose ye this day" and we cannot evade that command.
Fellow citizens who love truth, justice and liberty, let us arouse from the stupor that has come over us from listening to false teachers and let us form in a phalanx that will unite the North, the South, the East and the West.
